From the article.... The source emphasized that no one suggested that Clinton wasn't running a strong race or questioned her performance. Instead, it was an acknowledgement that the presidential race will be very close even though many Washington-based strategists and pundits on both sides of the ideological spectrum question Trump's seriousness as a candidate. "There was concern raised about the race because we know it's going to be a close race," said the source. A senior Senate Democratic aide who was not in the meeting acknowledged that senators have raised concerns about the closeness of the polls at other times. "We wouldn't be Democrats if there weren't a few bed-wetters," the aide said.

Sometimes "The Hill" can be really comical. I wonder if that was a real quote, but some of the far left wingers probably have no bladder control whatsoever

Oh I think it was real alright. Sometimes us Democrats have a real inferiority complex. Not me, my ego is almost half of Trump's for cripes sakes. But I do know some mousey and self effacing Democrats. Not in Maine! Tell me it ain't so. New York and Vermont maybe, but not Maine

I don't know, Hillary seemed pretty gaffe/controversy prone. I highly doubt this is e-mail thing is the last controversial thing we'll see.

But I do know some mousey and self effacing Democrats. liberals are fundamentally "mushier" on issues than conservatives. they question, doubt, and speculate a lot more. and during times of crisis, that is seen as weakness, even though it really isn't.

Probably not, but when you compare the number of her gaffes in this campaign to the times Trump has opened his mouth when he should have kept it shut, her number pales in comparison.
The thing is, with Trump, everyone is kind of getting used to his outlandish statements. Imagine Jeb Bush or John McCain or Mitt Romney saying we need to kick all the Muslims out of the country, for instance, and imagine the shit fire storm that would set off - but when Trump says stuff like that now, it's par for the course and no longer worth a frenzy. Like he says, he could probably shoot someone on the street and all his voters would shrug it off as the Donald just being the Donald.

One of his most revolting comments was ,"I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose voters, okay?"

I won't deny there's a double standard. People are increasingly willing to write trump's comments off as "oh, that's just Trump being Trump."

In the wake of what has happened since he made this statement I would love to see this one come back and bite him big time! But alas this country seems to have a very bad case of short term memory syndrome.

Of course he doesn't realize how badly it reflects on his voters.
Trump only ever focuses on how he looks and feels. The thought that he could murder someone and he is so beloved by his voters that none of them would bat an eye makes him feel so warm and fuzzy.
They love him! They really do!

In other news, Hillary was on a cable channel last night saying " radical Islamic terrorism". Hmmn, she does agree with Trump on something Trump didn't coin the term of "radical Islamic terrorism". True, the democrats have avoided using it. I consider it acceptable to say "radical Islamic terrorism" since is very specific to whom is the perpetrator. However many conservatives just fling the "Islamic terrorism" around a bit too much and that specific term is very wrong and inapropriate. If I'm not mistaking, Trump used it quite a few times.

I would have no problem poking the Clinton campaign to use that quote again, and again, and again over the next 3 1/2 months in their TV ads.

But all of those Trumpisms are out there, just waiting to become campaign ad fodder. if i were a conservative, i would be saying things like "Hillary is going to make mincemeat of Trump", because it would be SO EASY TO DO. but truthfully, i don't know what will happen. she might flop. she might crush him.

If these are two of the best and brightest leaders our country has to offer, WE'RE SCREWED! The better and brighter candidates have no desire to have their private lives put through a meat grinder for media and public consumption. I don't blame them On the other hand, their closets might be just as full of skeletons as the current two contenders.

As much as we disagree over polling numbers, I have to give you kudos. here. I am in the same boat. I keep waiting for Trump to flop, but so far nothing kills him in his chances to win it all.

I think she'll get it because she'll get the electoral votes but not the popular ones.

I think she'll get it because she'll get the electoral votes but not the popular ones. I won't be surprised if this is the case if she does in fact win. I think there are states, Idaho for example, which will be close to 80% for Trump. Few if any states that Clinton wins easily will have that level of winning margin. States like Pennsylvania will be very close.

Trump is going to LANDSLIDE states that he wins and Clinton is likely going to eek out victories in states that she wins.

I suppose you aren't factoring in the fact that one of the politicians more hated than Clinton is actually Trump? If only he had picked Cruz as his running mate. The two most disliked politicians in the country banding together.

Actually she is more hated. She's been hated from the time she was only the governors wife. She won't be able to bury her past the way the obamas were able to.

Okay, but am factoring in conservatism and a belief in traditional gender roles. Time will tell.

What are you basing an 80% win in Idaho on?
