Board Upgrade Status- Adding Spellcheck : Not Gonna Happen
with all the configuration needed on the back end, and at a minimum of $120.00/year simply to buy it, it ain't gonna happen.
I recommend bookmarking the site www.jspell.com/public-spell-checker.html. You can copy-paste your post into it, check it, and copy/paste the result back into the reply box. Either that or follow Moonbeam's oft-repeated instructions on how to equip your browser with a built-in spellchecker.
- Adding Preview Button to Quickreply : Complete
The QuickReply should now function identically to the normal reply, with a complete WYSIWYG editor and smileys interface.
- Double-Click-to-Hide-Avatar : Complete
Note that this feature is now linked to your user account. On the options menu (gear icon) in the top right corner of every post, you will see a new menu item 'Hide Avatar'. Selecting this for a user will hide that member's avatar. To show the avatar again, select 'Show Avatar' from the same menu.
If you don't see the menu items, refresh the page. If you still don't see them, please notify me (Virgil).
- Full List of Smileys : Complete
The list will eventually be upgraded so that users can add their own smileys. But the basic interface is now complete.
- Adding List of Pages to Bottom of Threads: Top List Apparently 'Follows You' at Very Top as you Scroll Down
- Adding Custom Thread Icons : Complete
- Adding UBBC Support for Personal Text: Complete
Supported formatting is limited to bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, font size, font face, left/center/right/justified alignment, superscript, subscript, colour, and hyperlinks.
Unsupported markup or damaged markup will appear as UBBC. Hence if tags are showing up in your personal text, your markup is either damaged or unsupported.
- Most Recent Topics Page : Complete
- Leave Message in Deleted Post : Not Yet Complete (Medium Priority)
- Fixing V- Skins : Not Yet Complete (Low Priority)
- Collapsible Forum Groups with Memory : Partly Complete (Medium Priority)
- Jump to Latest Post : Not Yet Complete (Low Priority)
- Multimode Profile Link Highlighter : Complete
- No Avatar Means No Avatar : Complete
No more creepy-looking slender man placeholders.
- Word Games Enhanced Input : Complete
This thread will be updated as the updates are completed or new updated are added. Miscellaneous features:
- Navigation Tree added at the bottom of the page
- "Back to Top" links in each post
- "Reply number" in each post
- Added a Reply button to the floating pagination bar

Virgil, In the old version of PB we had a comment section in our member profile to store comments only we could see. In mine I had the URLs to various versions of my avatar. It is the only place I had that information. Will you be that feature to V5? If not, can you retrieve that info and send via PM or email to me? Also, I notice larger avatars are possible in the new version. I had most my avatars sized down to fit the 100x100 v4.5 requirements. I don't see an option to upsize my avatar to say 150x150. Will that be added too sometime in the future? What is the maximum size supported for avatars in V5? Thanks!

Virgil, the "save avatar" button is overlapping with the last choice (use no avatar?) in the avatar part of my personal profile. Obviously I was able to work around it but it should probably be looked at sometime.

Same in mine they overlap. THANK YOU VIRGIL for the New Topics Button.

I second Sugi's "thanks". It really helps since I have used that since Day One and I was lost without it.

Is this the thread for our wish lists? I noticed that the "Back to Top" button isn't on the v5 version yet, and the "New" button doesn't take you to the first unread post in a previously read thread. Those were probably the two that I used the most. Sroo, you need to either press the HOME button on your keyboard, or Alt+D. That will take you to the top AND give you a drop down menu.

Question 2. You would need to resize your avatar on your own then re-upload it. Max size is now 150x150.
There are an awful lot of things that people are wanting Virgil to do that would actually be PB's responsiblity. some things may be added in future versions, but please understand that we cannot do everything.

Adding List of Pages to Bottom of Threads: Not Yet Complete (Medium Priority) Virgil, we don't need (and I don't want) a page changer at the bottom of the page.
If you all look at the top of the page, above the first post showing, that page switcher will float down the page with you!

I don't know where I should post this so Moon move it if you need to.
I'm having all sorts of issues this morning. I am missing all the "image" "youtube", etc., buttons. In addition, my "participated" button isn't working. Thought it might be a pop-up blocker issue but it isn't. Anybody else having these issues? I had some of these issues this morning, with the page numbers not floating with the screen, participated button not working and the gears missing on the right side of posts. I figured out my "compatibility view" was running. Once I went into the Tools menu and unchecked "compatibility view" everything started working for me.

Will that be added too sometime in the future? What is the maximum size supported for avatars in V5? Thanks! See Moon's comment about the new home of the personal account notes. As for avatar size, it would appear the new maximum is 150 pixels wide/tall, with isotropic scaling. As far as I know, they've removed the ability to specify the size of an avatar. This was probably an attempt to simplify the interface. They didn't want people to have to enter the preferred image dimensions. I actually do think that's an improvement. We won't have as many stretched or skewed avatars, and people's avs will always resize to the largest possible dimensions without upscaling the image, which is nearly always the desired behaviour. In the case of your avatar set, the original image (and all of the modified versions) are native 100x100 pixels. If they were scaled up to 150x150, they'd lose their crispness. I think I might importune Moon to cap the maximum avatar size at 100x100. These giant avs fill up a lot of space. :-\ I second Sugi's "thanks". It really helps since I have used that since Day One and I was lost without it. Me too. I thought the reason we raced to be first to be messed with, was to be ad free. I have ads at the top and bottom of each page.

Thanks Moon. Not sure if the Personal Notes section was there when I checked earlier. Looks like all my enter characters have been stripped out so I'll need to fix that. Going to check on that compatibility view later as I'm working this afternoon. Thanks. It may take a day or two for the ad-free status to take hold, folks. This is a big change for us, and a big change for ProBoards. Let's give it a bit of time before we complain about it, eh? It won't last that long anyway, with as many hits as we have.

We were told we would be ad free for awhile, and I thought it was "another glitch" in the system.

Virgil, you know I'm using one of your V skins cause I'm testing everything out. It's definitely more usable for me on V5 than it was on V4.5. I like how they are wider.

I think we'll see a lot of these issues disappear as things progress. There are always little "bugs" in anything new.

I do feel slow today... I just noticed that the thumbs up icon is actually the "go to the top of the page" button. So I guess Yaaaa! Now... I've noticed that the page next doesn't float with me when I scroll down. Is it browser dependent? I'm on Chrome. Sroo, the thumbs up is the LIKE button. it shouldn't take you to the top of the page.

Not if your forced to use IE7 ... it doesn't "follow you" down the page.
Lots of businesses are still using older versions of IE and employees just don't have the option of upgrading or using something else. Software upgrades and changes are controlled by IT departments.

Not a good answer, Moon. Like I said in another thread ... It works for "YOU" maybe ... but it DOESN"T work for a lot of "US". We're the USERS

Ok, didn't read all the posts, but what happened to the back to top and the option to go back to whatever board you're on at the bottom of the quick reply box? I miss those already.

I'm on Chrome and like is just like and the page bar follows me, until I scroll past the quick reply box anyway. ETA: The keyboard shortcuts (like Alt-S to post) don't work for me though.

the breadcrumb trail was a code we had before.. but you can get to a menu from anywhere on the page by pressing Alt+D
