Bolded about the question in reference that I found offensive and I respectively disagree with the slightly insensitive. I do agree with the rest of your post. I agree with you on the "slightly" comment -> it was meant sarcastically but the subject matter was to serious for me to add this Got it, sorry I did not catch the sarcastic part of it, we're good.

This question is more than just slightly insensitive and my heart goes out to those among us who have lost a love one or are facing an imminent loss. The question is also very weird since we all know that the answer is "no".
Yet it has some validity on a financial board at a top level from a purely theoretical POV. It is a fact that in many two-income households every last penny is spend. And that is not even that strange since services that allow for two-income families to cope have become exceedingly expensive.
I can recommend that all who are interested in this subject read the Two-Income Trap by Elizabeth Warren. It sure was an eye-opener for me. Bolded about the question in reference that I found offensive and I respectively disagree with the slightly insensitive. I do agree with the rest of your post.

I need to not read this thread. You're right you don't need the hurt open again. Go look at MPL's adorable puppy picts or steffs kitty picts. the kids thread or something else that is happy/relaxing. I am sorry, this stupid question even came up, I need to read something else too, and I have not been in your or Athena's situation. My heart goes out to both of you. Life sucks.

Facetious question:
When someone loses a spouse, does their mortgage payment get cut in half? What about the house insurance and property taxes?
People say when one is married the expenses are twice as much. Someone I know lost his wife in a car accident. They both worked so they had two incomes. He only has to make 1/2 the house payment now, right?
WTF kind of question/post is this Are you living under a rock (if it is a true question) or a troll?

Zib, I just want to wrap my arms around you and give you the biggest hug. I'm so sorry that you have been dealing with this. I do feel your dh loved you and would never have wanted to hurt you. IIRC, he was the one that really wanted to marry you, but you had your reservations, which were understandable. Everything happened so fast that I think he never had the time or wanted to admit that time was short to change things. You are a very strong woman and will persevere.

I'm just SMH right now. Ex failed twice this month IN THE MORNING the thing in his truck that detects alcohol on his breath in order for his truck to start. I'm not familiar with the device, or how it works, but apparently it has a computer chip(?) that is downloaded and the results are sent to the courts. Supposedly, the first time he asked his boss for a ride and told her that his truck had something wrong and this last time, his wife who just had surgery and is not cleared to drive, took him to work. I have no idea what the court will do with this information. DD is so pissed and she made me to promise not to say anything, DS has no idea that this is happening. It should be an interesting month or so. Both kids are done with him, and I feel bad that he hasn't been there for them, but that is his choice. Only 4 more years until DS turns 18. I am so glad that I don't have to deal with him directly, but I do need to still be there for my kids. Sigh. Tell me about it. Not the life that I had planned for, but it's the cards that we have been dealt. Like I've said before, not the person that I married 20 some years ago.

While very anti-climatic, but no crazy Aunt P run ins. Nothing left on the grave, so odds are she hadn't even gone to the cemetery today. While very boring in the story telling dept, very good for mom that we didn't see crazy Aunt P. We did have some fun at the police station while mom got fingerprinted (for one of her real estate licenses) We're clearly in the wrong business, neither of us have good fingerprints. The guy scanning said we'd make great criminals because we woudn't leave fingerprints that could be used. I got fingerprinted for shits & giggles to see if mine were as nonexistent as hers are, and yep, I got next to no fingerprints. lol They never got a scan on either of us that wasn't "poor quality" They had to override the program to get hers accepted enough to print them out. LOL you are so easily entertained.

My wife just texted me all excited because she felt The baby kick for the first Time tonight! How exciting! What a wonderful experience for her, hopefully that will ease her anxiety level. That was when I really felt pregnant.

Two hours in. Thing 1 thinks she's funny and is texting people asking for name ideas for her new brother or sister. I hate her. Your girls are a hoot at least she is keeping you entertained. Take care.

So we asked how long it would be and of course, they won't tell us. They did say that the person who is up next has been here for 3 hours. FML. Better to be safe than sorry. If the pain increases, let them know. You don't know why the person before you has been there for 3 hours, you could take precedence over them. Hugs and I hope everything ends up ok.

Is there a way to file this electronically? My predecessor said that because it has 3 carbon copies, (IRS, producer, office), the forms have to be typewritten(?). In other words, I have to use a typewriter to fill these out.
It will be a PITA since I have over 200 of these that need to be filled out. Not to say that I haven't used a typewriter in over 20 years.

You know, you're a grown-up...you don't have to listen to your mothers if it makes you unhappy. I have decided not to speak to my parents anymore, since they agree with my husband on an issue of how to handle my anxiety. (They are all correct, but screw 'em! ) I didn't even go into detail about my anxiety issues. I just mentioned that the highways out here make me anxious. I forgot that my mom is my mom and has some small insight into my brain. I have the same issues. I don't like to drive on anything that has more than 2 lanes each way, or areas that I'm not familiar with. When I had to do a lot of driving to Orlando/Tampa, I would have to pull over in a parking lot for a few minutes to wait for the anxiety to subside. For the ones who don't suffer from this it is hard for them to understand, even when they try to offer you suggestions on "how to get over it". Hang in there, hopefully they will understand or you can find a way to cope. Best of luck.

LOL, she still has the dresser that she "painted", and she's now 19. We call it the creative dresser; it's just used for storage now, but when she colored her walls after I painted her room, I swore that I would never paint here room again and I didn't until she was 13 or 14. Needless to say she was not a happy camper for many years.

Dear guy in the REALLY nice Mercedes at last night's football game. Thank you, but I really was not looking to get high when I was collecting parking fees.
When you rolled down your window to pay, the smoke was so bad, it reminded me of the old Cheech and Chong movies. Oh and that wad of cash that you pulled out with one hand while holding the joint with the other, was priceless.
Volunteering for the high school football games is always interesting. I could probably write a blog on just the stupid things people do or say when having to pay a $2.00 parking fee that supports the football program.

Dear Life, Please go away. I'm tired of dealing with home ownership, vehicles, work, kids and a crazy ex that is making my kids' life hell, (yes, I said my kids no matter what the f---ing judge said. She has no idea of what the kids and I have gone through). Ex: Do you really think that crying "I'm going to kill myself" works anymore? Nope, nada, not happening. We've had too many years of listening to that crap. You've been offered help through different programs, but the alcohol has control over you. I'm sorry. You were such a different person when I met and married you 20 years ago, but I'm glad that I got out when the kids and I could survive. Signed, Pissed beyond belief and to think this only the top of the iceberg. I'm extremely tired right now. I'll go to Hell for saying this, but for some people, the best thing they can do it take themselves out of other peoples' lives sometimes. I am not wishing his death on him or anyone else. It sounds like he has been saying it for years. But it is hard to take him seriously on any issue when he keeps doing it. Well Nancy, I guess we'll be neighbors because I've been saying for years the choice is his. As sad as it may sound, because of the hell he has put me and the kids through, I really hope he can find peace and happiness. Everyone deserves a chance at that, but sometimes you have to work really hard to achieve that.

Who knows/cares about the brand name of the furniture for a kids room or any room for that matter. As long as it does what it needs to do and is sturdy, decent looking (not great), but meets all the needs, is good enough for a NB/child.
Although I do understand wanting the best for my kids, sometime it's just not practical, and believe it or not the kid will not care; ask me about a newly painted room, a three year old and a found crayon.

If I'm not mistaken, it depends. We have State and Federal employees that work that shift. As long as within the pay period (every two weeks) and you do not go over 80 hours, it's good. Although, most managers are steering away from that and it could be because it may be considered borderline stretching the rules or that it creates scheduling issues. IIRC, it matters if you're exempt or non-exempt. At my employer, non exempt employees can only flex time out in that same week (Monday through Sunday for us), but exempt (hourly or salary - we have both) can flex out in the two week pay period. You are correct now that I think about it, thanks for reminding me. Sorry for any confusion.

I'm pretty sure if you are hourly you can only give comp time in that week. Strict 40 hours per week. Several years ago we had admin staff request alternate work schedule of working extra hour per day and getting every other Friday off. Local management was fine, would have been win-win for everyone, but HR said it wouldn't be legal because you would work 45 hours one week and 35 the next and everyone would get 5 hours OT in week one. That was the law.

I'm glad that you made it safely. It must feel good to be around family that can help you and ease your mind about your DH and your car. The light being on is probably because of the gas cap, I have not tighten my a couple of times and that was what the issue was. I did laugh about you turning the wheelchair over and beating into submission.

OMG! Thing 2 turned the thermostat up to 80 and then went to sleep. I about died when I walked in the door. Who does that?! My DD or she will turn on the space heater in her room so that it is like a sauna when you walk in her room.

Another thought, some hotels have wheel chairs that can be used from parking to the room. Is that an option?

I'm sending the best of thoughts to you and your family. It is a hard time for everyone and you are doing the best that you can. I think that your husband is a trooper for taking this trip and knows how much it means to you.
I wish you safe travels and hope that this adventure leaves you with more happy memories than sad ones.
Safe travels.

Sam Elliott can put his boots under my bed any time. Oh that voice, sigh. Another voice that I can listen to forever is James Earl Jones.
