Folks who live in our state know that climate change is a real thing (of course, we've got a few deniers here too, but oh well). We've just set a record for the least snow EVER since they started keeping records, for the month of November (we just got a dusting of snow). And later this week, we're hitting 50 degrees, which just doesn't happen in December in this part of the country. In a "normal" year, we should have at least a foot of snow on the ground, but some folks think climate change isn't a big deal. Until it affects the ability of a farmer to harvest crops that is. Then, it's probably getting to be too late to fix the problem. And climate change is wreaking a different sort of havoc in my neck of the woods. The Great Lakes are the source of lake effect snow, which is usually happens mostly in late fall/early winter and late winter/early spring. Why? Because the lake waters have to be above a certain temperature to generate the lake effect snow. With the warmer temps, the lake stays open and warm longer, meaning longer lake effect snow periods, and the warmer waters produce even more snow. The end result: Syracuse, Watertown, Buffalo, Rochester, and the Tug Hill are getting absolutely pounded.

Video of Johnson actually saying that in the linked article. Mike Johnson: Must 'blur out' rioters' faces on J6 tapes so they don't face 'retaliation'
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said on Tuesday that House Republicans are taking steps to protect people who illegally broke into the United States Capitol on January 6th, 2021. When asked a question about releasing more internal batches of internal January 6th security footage, Johnson emphasized that "we're going through a methodical process of releasing them as quickly as we can." He then added a caveat about protecting some of the rioters' identities. "As you know, we have to blur some of the faces of persons who participated in the events of that day because we don't want them to be retaliated against and to be charged by the DOJ," he said. Johnson added that "all of those tapes" would eventually come out. The violent riots at the Capitol featured supporters of former President Donald Trump assaulting police officers, vandalizing government property, and chanting for the hanging of then-Vice President Mike Pence. While most Republicans condemned the riots on the day they occurred, Trump himself has begun openly praising many of them as "hostages" while vowing to give many of them full pardons and an apology from the government should he return to office. not very specific. all of the changes that are being made on abortion are on the part of conservatives, so don't blame liberals, please. ditto for religious liberties. let's go with climate change for 200: do you think climate change is real? do you think humans contribute? Yes climate change is real to what extent I do not know its not like we can trust the experts you know they said the polar ice caps would be gone by 2000. Yes humans contribute that is another reason why it is all crap unless all countries get on board then it will not matter. The earth will adjust we just may not be part of it. interesting perspective. rational. and one i mostly share.

They may be blurring the ones for public release, so that friends and family of the traitors don't recognize them and report their identities to DoJ. I would expect that DoJ would have their own copies long ago.

My guess is worried conservatives are pressing MJ to do this as they have not previously been identified as J6 peeps who should be charged. More than videos would be needed to convict in a court of law. If they are released without blurring some friend or family member might say, hey that's crazy uncle George. He said he was going hunting with the guys and here he is. I wonder if that's why none of them came home with deer ,,,,,,,,

Ida. Sandy. Hurricane Floyd and winter into January has totally changed since I came to NJ 35 to 40 years ago. It has certainly made managing my sinuses hard. At first I was happy last year about the wussiest winter I have ever experienced in NJ. But that led to the earliest spring/pollen season ever here. And like Swamp pointed out extended ... very long and crushing to those of us with allergies to tree, grass pollen, and just pollens floating around hoping to get lucky.

This fall has also been record breaking and totally off norms. Part of the reason I am this kind of sick and taking industrial meds to hopefully free me of my fall sinus crash and burn. Christian radio station I have on is playing an Easter song. The world has gone crazy. Saw the greatest Xmas card at the Spanish grocery store. Its a cat with a bottle of wine - I am dreaming of a white Christmas, because someone drank all the red.
I think I must get it. Or make my own version?

Kevin McCarthy to leave Congress at the end of this year
Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is resigning from Congress and will leave at the end of this year, he announced in a Wall Street Journal op-ed on Wednesday — a highly anticipated decision that comes two months after his unprecedented ouster from the speakership. McCarthy, who has been in office for 17 years and spent much of it at the leadership table, touted his accomplishments in the op-ed and made clear he has no regrets about his tenure. McCarthy, who battled through 15 grueling rounds to win the speaker’s gavel in January, was removed just nine months later after infuriating his right flank for putting a stopgap spending bill on the floor with the support of Democrats. “No matter the odds, or personal cost, we did the right thing. That may seem out of fashion in Washington these days, but delivering results for the American people is still celebrated across the country,” he wrote. What they've delivered is a nothingburger. They love the spotlight, but have given the average American nothing, and frankly have taken a lot away.

Because yes, he did do one thing right, and it cost him.

'Red Sea moment': Johnson likens himself to Moses, tells Christian nationalists God paved his path to speakerMike Johnson, delivering the keynote address to a far-right Christian nationalist group Tuesday, likened himself to Moses and declared God had charted his path to become the Republican Speaker of the House, after telling him in his prayers to prepare. Speaker Johnson, a Christian nationalist who falsely claims the Constitution’s separation of church and state is a “misnomer” and has declared the United States is not democracy but a “biblical” republic, is an attorney who once worked for a far-right organization that has since been designated an anti-LGBTQ extremist group by the Southern Poverty Law Center. Johnson was the lead sponsor last year of a federal “Don’t Say Gay” bill and has bragged that he and his teenaged son are accountability partners in a no-porn pledge that includes installation of monitoring software on all their devices. “I’ll tell you a secret since the media is not here,” Speaker Johnson said at the National Association of Christian Lawmakers (NACL) Gala (video below), where he was honored with their American Patriot Award for Christian Honor and Courage, as Right Wing Watch reported. “Thank you for not allowing the media in, I’ll tell you a secret because they wanted to come because they wanted to, you know, take my comments out of context as they’ve been doing with with great joy for the last few weeks,” Johnson charged, not specifying which of his remarks he believes have been taken out of context. “The Lord impressed upon my heart a few weeks before this happened, that something was going to occur,” Johnson continued. “And the Lord very specifically told me in my prayers to prepare, but to wait. ‘Prepare for what?’ I said to the Lord. You know, I had this sense that we were going to come to a Red Sea moment in our Republican conference and the country at large.” Rest of article here: 'Red Sea moment': Johnson likens himself to Moses, tells Christian nationalists God paved his path to speaker
