It's good to dive into stats and see their limitations. Turns out this is based on less than half of the killings in a year as racial information is known for less than half of the cases, about 39%. The most detailed racial data have limits: They are confined to cases in which one person was killed and one person did the killing, eliminating about 17 percent of homicides. Also, police have to know and provide the backgrounds of not only the victims but the perpetrators, too – meaning that thousands of cases left unsolved and with no description of the person who committed the crimes are discounted. In total, about 61 percent of the 15,696 homicides committed in 2015 are excluded.www.usnews.com/news/articles/2016-09-29/race-and-homicide-in-america-by-the-numbersYou can on go on the information provided which is there is 2x the amount of black on white killing than white on black. Hummmm where's the real racism It's possible racism is why a black person killing a white person is recorded by law enforcement more than a white person killing a black one. Since there is a very incomplete data set, IMO no real logical conclusions can be drawn. I get you want to think 39% of the data means something without the rest of it, but since there is more missing than exists, the real conclusions could be very different from this partial data set.

Just because you're racist doesn't make them any less human. It also doesn't make you any better than them. They're here doing the work that lazy Americans won't at a fraction of the pay that Americans would do it for. Have you seen how FL is falling apart after DeSantis basically outlawed immigrants? Floridians immediately felt the impact. Like it or not, we need the migrant workers we have.

Why should that murder be any different than someone riding down the street and shooting in a crowd. Both innocent victims why should one victim death be more important than another? Because bigots like the hypothetical anti-gay shooter here might think twice about killing someone if they get an enhanced prison sentence just because they hate what their anonymous victims are and not who they are. Yep. I agree whole heartedly with hate crime enhancers. It may make someone think twice before acting up. Some are so unhinged that they don't care, but it might deter others.

Correct. Black people are viewed as disposable and white people are not. The only reason the officers that killed George Floyd were prosecuted was because someone recorded it and posted it on social media. He death had already been downplayed in the newspaper as him dying while resisting an officer and not the police brutality it actually was. If a black person goes missing, they are assumed to be a runaway and forgotten about. Let a white girl go missing and search parties go out and rewards promised. Hell, what about that Murtaugh guy that just went to jail? His family had been responsible for several deaths before people started putting the pieces together.

Article doesn't state what degree of murder the teen in the article below is charged with, but I would like to see an enhanced hate crime prison sentence attached to the murder charge (if convicted based upon the age of the victim/elderly abuse. May he never see freedom again. There is a link to the actual video of the man hit while riding his bike in the linked article. Graphic Video: Laughing, Joy-Riding Teen Car Thief 'Intentionally' Strikes and Kills Cyclist, 64, Police AllegeA Las Vegas teen is facing a murder charge after a fatal collision that killed a 64-year-old cyclist in Nevada. The deceased, Andreas Probst, retired after a 35-year career in law enforcement that culminated with a position as police chief of Bell, California, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. A video has emerged of the Aug. 14 collision in which the driver of a Hyundai Elantra giggles with a companion as the vehicle accelerates as it approaches Probst before brutally striking him. The video helped authorities determine the collision was an an "intentional act," KLAS-TV reported. The vehicle then left the scene. It was later determined to have been stolen. I am good with migrant workers we have legal programs for that. If they are here illegally they need to go back why is it so hard to want people here legally. Its fucking insane how people will skirt around this issue oh they are human, on we need them. Yes they are human doing an illegal activity yes we need them do jobs legally. A pretty simple concept

They're the same as you or me and deserve to be treated humanely. You're ancestors were allowed to immigrate here, why can't they? Let's make citizenship more attainable for whoever wants to be one.

It was described as a medical condition when his cause of death was in fact a homicide. www.cnn.com/2021/04/21/us/minneapolis-police-george-floyd-death/index.htmlETA: I watched the entire trial. The police chief said on the stand unequivocally that Derek Chauvin used excessive force and that his actions were not consistent with his training.

Hummmm where's the real racism This is not an uncomfortable truth. It is an incomplete possibly incorrect assessment if the full data was known. You are implying that those shootings in that partial data set are because black people seek out white people to shoot. From the URL I posted earlier in the thread - Of the 13,455 cases from last year in which the FBI listed a victim's racial information, 7,039 victims – or 52.3 percent – were black. That compares with 5,854 cases – or 43.5 percent – in which the victim was white, an increase of about 8 percent from last year.
Among the roughly 6,000 cases in which the race of the victim and the offender were known, the number of blacks killed by blacks rose to 2,380 last year, an increase of about 8 percent from 2014.
2380 is significantly larger than 500, correct? So, your implication is off base. I do find it curious that the number of cases of white people killed with racial info on both sides is always right around the number of cases with black people killed even though there are more than triple the number of whites in the population to blacks. Makes me wonder if some places intentionally suppress or won't collect racial info for homicides.

In regards to the conversation about “not seeing color”, I am not as articulate as other posters here, so please bear with me. I think it’s only natural to notice what a person looks like. I am a Black woman, and maybe it’s because I have been constantly reminded of my color my whole life, but I do notice whether people are white, black, Asian, or any other things they could be. Me noticing that does not determine how I treat them, but I would be lying if I said I don’t see the differences in appearances. Because that doesn’t have anything to do with how I treat whoever, I don’t see that as being much different from the other things my brain automatically registers about the people I run into or interact with, like how they are dressed, how they act, and whatever else my unconscious identifies, that gives me clues about people. I feel like what I do with all that information my brain registers about a person, is more important than what I notice about their appearance. As long as neither poses a threat to me, I treat the person that appears to be homeless, with the same courtesy and respect I would treat a person that is well dressed and appears to be a successful business person. But with either one, I would be able to say after seeing them or interacting them, what race or ethnicity they appeared to be. That means that I am most definitely not color blind. And I don’t think that’s a bad thing. To me, noticing race or whatever, is not different than noticing what clothes a person is wearing. It’s just part of a physical description. Nothing more, and nothing less, unless somebody makes it be something more by using that person’s skin color or whatever, to judge how that person should be treated. I’m not sure if I worded everything well enough to be properly understood, but that’s just my opinion on the subject. Very well written I don't think "colour blind" means you physically cant see what colour people are. It means you see it.. and it doesn't matter............... because everyone is valuable.

In the context of what we're talking about, it doesn't mean that. Proclaiming ones self color blind is actually contributing to the problem. Only racist or clueless people day that.

You guys certainly like your elder statesmen. Yeah, Queen Elizabeth was 96 when she died. King Charles is 74. Both had/have the ability to step down to a younger generation, but did not. This is like the pot calling the kettle black. I made that comment because both Biden and Trump, who are the ones most under discussion, are elder statesmen. That's just a fact. Why? I presumed its because you like it that way. So be it. The Monarch is on the throne until they die.... and If they get old, they get old. However, they aren't running the country. The elected representative do that and Rishi Sunak is 42.

You fling the word "racist" about... like its the only word you know.
What could be better, or more Liberal, than an ideal of a fair society where everyone is equal and has the same opportunities?
Why in the world is that racist?

Why in the world is that racist? In this world. In some utopian future, what u you ou state will hopefully be true. In the IS, in the real world, this is far from reality. Just change I do not see a persons color with I do not see a persons sex. Still seem like that is reality?

Its getting that way. Policemen, teachers, fire fighters. etc We are quite likely to see men and women in these roles. .......and as long as they are the best person for the job, then it shouldn't matter.

How many men get asked. Bout their families and pregnancy plans at job interviews. And you said we are getting there. We are not there yet then. So are we past sexism in society yet, or is it still an issue?

Monarchs HAVE stepped down for their younger counterparts in other countries. So it is not as if there is not precedence for it to happen. It just seems to me that if you want to make comments like this, then perhaps you need to look in your own backyard first. FWIW….no, we do not particularly like our older statesman. However, I CAN appreciate the experience that they bring to the table. Say what you want about Biden, he does know how to talk to both sides and knows how to negotiate. That takes experience, and experience comes with time…..and age.

We are not past it but we are getting there. Years ago in my grandmas generation women were discouraged from having careers at all. Now we are encouraging all our children to head towards a career. We have come a long way.
Well I'm not sure about the US but you are not allowed to do that here. It would be discrimination.
Not in ours.
I have only said he is an elder statesman........ that's all I have ever uttered on the subject.
Vote for who you want.

By 2019, that had fallen to 20 percent; the fact that people say they are "from" Mexico does NOT mean they are Mexican nationals. the last i read, most were from the poorer regions of Central America. Mexico is doing OK, and most Mexicans are better off staying in Mexico. and they know that.

Why in the world is that racist? I experience racism every day of my life. Do you? I bet not since you are a white woman outside of America. Here we don't live in a fair society where everyone is equal. We also don't have equal opportunity here. Why? Because of the color of our skin. If you and I were walking on opposite sides of the street, people would cross to your side to walk on. Why? Because of what I look like. I'm treated like a criminal every day because my skin is more melanated than yours. It's a fact of life when you're a POC. You wouldn't know what that is like though.

You're right, racism isn't something that's in my life. I stand in front of kids of all colours and creeds every day, and my only consideration is how well they are learning and how much progress they are making.
The only remotely correlating discriminatory thing, I can think of, is the feeling that being a female was a disadvantage. Somehow I got looked over for jobs/promotion/projects
Stupid blonde, right?
It just made me even more determined to succeed and take my share.
Its getting better on all fronts for all colours and creeds, not there yet but getting there.
(I understand that its different in the US and you have a larger demographic)
However, lobbing accusations of racism at me is not helpful. Firstly because it isn't true and secondly because it gets you nowhere.
Something positive has to come out of this.

I don't actually think this is true. There are plenty of younger, straight white people that are YUGE trump supporters. You could see it from J6. i actually didn't see it on J6. i saw 10000 people there, 90% of which were boomers or X'ers. most of them didn't break into the capitol, which means that there are a disproportionate number of younger folks that did. if that is what you mean, then yes. there are some crazy, stupid kids that are MAGA. but i don't think they are even a plurality, let alone a majority, and half of the ones on J6 are now convicted felons. Lol sorry. I forget that X-ers aren't considered that young anymore. I am the last year of Gen X and I am only 43, while our oldest are about 58. We are not even retirement age yet. I saw a good amount of men and women at J6 (and also in the wanted pictures they posted online) that were in their 40s and 50s. And yes, while not young, they don't exactly have one foot in the grave. My original comment was in response to someone saying MAGA folks are dying off, and I don't think that is true.

You're right, racism isn't something that's in my life. I stand in front of kids of all colours and creeds every day, and my only consideration is how well they are learning and how much progress they are making. The only remotely correlating discriminatory thing, I can think of, is the feeling that being a female was a disadvantage. Somehow I got looked over for jobs/promotion/projects Stupid blonde, right? It just made me even more determined to succeed and take my share. Its getting better on all fronts for all colours and creeds, not there yet but getting there. (I understand that its different in the US and you have a larger demographic) However, lobbing accusations of racism at me is not helpful. Firstly because it isn't true and secondly because it gets you nowhere. Something positive has to come out of this. Being discriminated against foe being a woman isn't even remotely the same thing. My sister and I are both women, however she is white passing. She gets treated way differently than I do because my skin is much much darker than hers. How is that fair? Being a POC you have to work at least twice as hard to even be considered on the same level as white people. Your name gives you away on a resume screening. If you get an interview, once they see you, their mind is made up despite your qualifications. BECAUSE OF WHAT YOU LOOK LIKE! But yeah accuse me of just throwing the word around. It's my life every day. You'll never understand.

This guy does a deep dive into African American history and slavery. It's very informative. Ironically I put my internet away and opened up tik tok and he's the first one who came up. You can't tell me our phones don't spy on us. www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8jTVQmX/

You can on go on the information provided which is there is 2x the amount of black on white killing than white on black.
I've read that. It doesn't apply because it doesn't exclude black on black and white on white homosides. I'm looking for the racist element.

Do you have any proof that is the only reason they were prosecuted? I would love to see it. Here you are. I also watched the video and was disgusted. Then with all the information provided here is my take on it. Once a person resist arrest they are putting their life in danger. Officers are trained to non lethally detain a person which they did. Now this maybe racist cop thought it was funny putting him in pain. After his death was they system set up to change the narrative I don't think so. It also could have been a mental issue with the cop who should have been taken out of service along time ago those are the things I think need to change. There are approx 660000 police officers in the us I highly doubt there is even 1% racist that would not make help a systemic racist system

Just because you say i'm racist doesn't make it so. I don't make racist comments I tell the uncomfortable truth the problem with that is the left ie you and most on this board like to call it instead of see things as they actually are. Now no people are not illegal once they commit an illegal activity they are illegal if your not here legally you are not the undocumented worker you are a fucking illegal whether you are black, brown, white I don't care it is all the same. I am good with migrant workers we have legal programs for that. If they are here illegally they need to go back why is it so hard to want people here legally. Its fucking insane how people will skirt around this issue oh they are human, on we need them. Yes they are human doing an illegal activity yes we need them do jobs legally. A pretty simple concept No, you've made some pretty racist statements. We need immigrants. They are in fact human even if you think differently. They're the same as you or me and deserve to be treated humanely. You're ancestors were allowed to immigrate here, why can't they? Let's make citizenship more attainable for whoever wants to be one. Your wrong noone needs anyone else per se. Yes they are human you never herd me say deprive them of food, water. What you did here me say is make is tougher to get in here we shouldn't just let anyone walk on in the process should be detailed with a very strict probabionary period.
