I’d been doing pretty good, then today happened. I had pizza, tacos, chips, and guac. Not all for 1 meal, lol, but it does feel like I’ve been eating ALL DAY! WTH?! Usually I’m better at pacing myself and only have one high calorie meal a day. i also am getting back to running. It’s cooling down a bit, my injury seems to be healed, and that’s helping. But clearly it’s “helping” my appetite a little too much. It’s been a long time since I’ve backed off my running like I have this year, so hopefully things will regulate soon. I think there's a bit of research supporting that: People increase their workouts which in turn increases their appetite which negates a calorie deficit. Tricky business this healthy lifestyle thing!

Chloe - your past few posts have resonated with me. Another female executive (it's weird to even think of myself like that) once told me she gained 10-15 pounds in the yr following each major promotion as a combination of working more hours so less exercise and healthy eating and the stress hormones holding on fat.
I need to figure out changes.

I had a lot of lettuce to use up so I made four mason jar taco salads. It will be my lunch or dinner each night this week.
I need to remember the mason jar salad idea. It is far better to spend time on the weekend putting meals together for the week than to rely on having the time, energy, and motivation to make individual meals each day. And I'm getting in a fair amount of veggies with each one.

Made it down to 199lbs yesterday. Now to stay on track, which also means that I need to raise activity levels.

Hello everyone! Trying to get back into the swing of things. I've always found this group to be supportive and helpful. I'm at 216.8 lbs. Easing back into exercise, increasing water, and being more mindful of meal choices. I would like to be better prepared, so I don't go for the easy (and therefore what is usually the less healthy) option. I've done some googling, but would love to hear if anyone has some go-to meal prep ideas they'd be willing to share. Going to see how this week goes, then I'll set some goals. Thanks!

Yup, all it takes is a holiday weekend. BTDT. Right now my body is NOT being kind to me. I've been increasing my exercise time, and the scale is moving in the wrong direction.

Weighed myself yesterday, down to 215.2! Feeling good. Making better choices, drinking more water. The things that I know work! Even made overnight oats to bring to the office for breakfast. Anyway, hope everyone else is doing well!

Thanks! I'm cooking for just me, now. After doing everything relating to family meals, basically daily, for years and years, I now avoid complicated recipes. I don't mind leftovers, but don't want to have to eat the same thing for four meals in a row, so I usually cut the recipes in half. I just went grocery shopping for the week. I am focusing on fruits and veggies this week. Also focusing on using what I have in the freezer because my kitchen remodeling will start in November and I would like for my freezer to be mostly empty. I plan to make chicken and apple curry. I only needed celery and had the rest on hand. (chicken breast from the freezer) I'll accompany that with frozen green peas. blog.memeinge.com/chicken-and-apple-curry/Then I had two large green bell peppers that needed to be used, so decided to use them for stuffed peppers. I only needed canned tomato sauce. (hamburger from the freezer) I'll add some frozen corn to the mixture. The cherry tomatoes look good, so I will chop up a few to add those as well. feastandfarm.com/classic-stuffed-peppers/I have a ton of jasmine rice on hand and will prepare enough to have with the curry and use in the stuffed peppers. I intend to make enough to put together some rice pudding to use up some half-and-half. And then I decided to make egg roll in a bowl. These recipes are trending online lately. I've made this before and thought it was too bland using turkey, so I bought some ground pork. I also bought bagged coleslaw mix and green onions. We'll see if pork makes a difference. If not, I may try pork sausage next time. www.theseasonedmom.com/egg-roll-in-a-bowl/https://feastandfarm.com/classic-stuffed-peppers/I also got a basket of lettuce mix, and strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries, for fruity salads dressed in Brianna's poppyseed dressing. I also bought some nonfat strawberry yogurt to add to the dressing to make it creamy. I have pecans on hand and may "candy" them or just toss them in, as is. I've been making my salads in mason jars lately. For a little more prep time I get way more meals prepared. I'm also increasing my water intake these days. I'm cheating. I buy LaCroix and keep it in the fridge. I enjoy trying the various flavors. ---------------- My unhealthy binge of the past few days: a bag of Reese's peanut butter cups. I went to CVS to pick up a prescription my doctor called in. It wasn't ready. I didn't want to leave empty handed, so I bought the Reese's, bag of 14. I went to CVS again yesterday to get the prescription. The line was too long and I didn't want to wait. I went back today, the pharmacy line was again long but I waited and got the prescription. I did not want to chance going there a fourth time in four days because the Reese's bag is now empty. Too much temptation. My last post I had hoped to be 144.0 by the end of that week. That was a few weeks ago. I have been on vacation with friends since then, and the scale said 147.2 this morning.

Take vitamins at least 1x per day (2 is full dose) 1 hour walking or other exercise before dinner 10 hours before bed: stop caffeine (might consider jacking up to 12 hours?) 6 hours before bed, no food known to disrupt sleep, tomatoes, et al. 4 hours before bed: stop food/drink 3 hours before bed: stop work 1 hour before bed: stop screens Which brings the question!! when I was first looking at this list, I was really jarred by the realization that I had very little options of what to do that was not work or screen time that last hour, as exercise was out too! Reading was the only thing I could slot in there! I do have a book going on that I had been meaning to get back to, but I also want to think of other things to put in there. I think the sleep hygiene angle is on to something...helped just a bit initially, then I had to pull 2 all nighters, and got back to kind of not so good sleep. Yesterday, I tried following the sleep hygiene just a little bit, not everything, not on time, but stoping work at one point then stopping screens. I went out! my alarm started blaring and I was so confused, I slept through the night, 8 hours. Felt so good! Need to continue to work on the sleep, and once that seems more settle and my brain starts feeling refreshed again, I can start to tackle some other items on the list.... want to ID midnight as the latest acceptable bed time. That would mean: No coffee after 12pm no nightshades after 6pm no food after 8pm no work after 9pm no screens after 11 pm Not going go conform to that tonight, but will add on 1 hour to each goal post....and try to get earlier tomorrow....

Well FINALLY the scale is beginning to move in the correct direction. It's about time. I've got another reason to lose weight too, as DD got engaged, and I want to look at least decent in those future wedding photos, which will probably be around for years to come.

Thanks Serious!
Up a little this week to 216.3. I did not make great choices yesterday, kids were home and I got lazy. Did not plan, which I’m realizing is key for me.

Has it been that long since I've checked in here? I've been super busy between work and my kids, just bouncing around the same weight. I haven't been exercising nearly as much and barely paying attention to my diet. With everything going on, we also ended up adopting a dog 2 weeks ago. She's very sweet, young and big. She's mostly a good dog, but we just didn't have any slack in our schedule going in to this, so it's been overwhelming. Last weekend my youngest had a bday party, and my weight is up slightly after indulging.
Anyway, getting on a good routine seems to be key for me. Hopefully, I can settle in after our vacation next week. This is our last hell week of kids activities. It'll still be bad for a while, but tapering off a bit.
Have a great week (or 2) all!

Have not checked in for awhile. I am not getting in my exercise, making poor food and drink choices and not getting enough sleep. On the bright side my weight has not gone up.

I don't get it. This past week I didn't put much effort into exercise or watching what I ate, and I'm down to 214.9. Strange. Do need to get back into good habits. Trying to find a plan that works for me.
Hang in there everyone!

And on occasion, I also make overnight oats for DH in Mason jars. Yes, I love overnight oats! We tried to make overnight oats several years ago, but either we didn't do it correctly or we just don't like them. They were too mushy.
I make regular oatmeal on the stove though.

Whoops! I went a month without posting!
August 22........165.8 August 26........163.0 Sept 4..............167.0 Sept 11............165.5 October 9........168.1
I'm trying (again) to get my binging under control. The last few days have been better. I'm training myself (again) to really think about what I'm doing when I reach for food. Do I actually need it or am I just satiating feelings? Being human is hard. I've seen a few picture of myself at my cousin's wedding in late June (at which I weight 8 pounds less that I do today), and I'm really frustrated with how I look.

I lost another pound, but I'm working hard to do it. My exercise time is back up to an hour a day. My knee was complaining about it a couple of days ago, and I thought I'd have to reduce the amount of time, but it's ok today. Praying my body doesn't betray me as I'm putting in my best effort.

Still working on my sleep, but bad habits are harder to break than you think! Even when they've been of relatively short duration!
Have not been able to adhere to my sleep hygiene schedule 100% on any given day. Night before last did good but not much sleep was happening. Of course fell into a wonderful deep sleep before the alram went off to get up for my first meeting of the day. Worked hard last night to do everything as early as I could, opted for roasted peanuts and popcorn for dinner so fairly minimal cleanup! Did get a good nights sleep! When I do sleep more than 5-6 hours these days, I always wake up with a headache...even if I'm not overdue for my coffee....kind of weird.
Anyhoo! Will keep trucking with the sleep hygiene and try to get better and break the bad habits.....

Still in a funk. No energy to exercise. Did not get in many steps this week. Water intake too low.
This week's goals:
1. Get in 40,000 steps. 2. Average 35 ounces of water. 3. No food after 9:00 PM.
