Surprisingly, I am starting the new year not far off from my low of 191 at 193.9. My focus in 2023 will be to get moving more. In order to do that I will need to get over my guilt from not rushing home after work just because DH is already there.

Did not have a good end to last year. First goal stop the gain. I would like to average 7000 steps a day in January, work on drinking more water and getting to bed a bit earlier.

My goals are pretty simple - eat less food, drink less alcohol, and move more. Of course, making wise food choices plays into this as well. It's become a endless loop of gain weight, experience joint discomfort, and move less so gain more. I have to break the cycle NOW

Looking forward to posting again. One of my new year's goals (not calling it a resolution!) is to get back on track with my health. I did great end of 2021, and had another good stretch mid-2022. I'm going to do a modified version of the challenge I had success with last year. My focus will be on drinking water, working out, and tracking what I eat. I'll post goals and specific steps in the next couple days. Welcome soupandstew !

Happy new year! Hope you all have been well! I've just had probably the busiest year of my life. I still have a lot of catching up to do at home, so I'm just dipping my toe back into ymam here. I did manage to train for a 5k, and ran it in October, but otherwise my health and weight have gone by the wayside. Gonna try to run another 5k, plus do other exercise. And eat and drink better, of course.

The exact same starting weight as last year. Annoyed with myself. I did sell a house and buy a house, move, and start a new job, so there was a bit of stress. Basically, same goals as last year: (1) lose 20 pounds (2) consume 100 or fewer carbohydrates each day (3) 20 minutes of cardio at least four days per week (4) 20 minutes of yoga/abs at least four days per week (5) keep my sciatica under control
I really need to hold myself accountable, so I’ll attempt posting here almost daily. This may be the only thread I post on this year. I need to complete my dissertation.

Okay, here we go with the plan for 2023... I was at 212.1 this morning. My first goal is to hit 195.0 pounds by March 20th. Yes, very aggressive. But I'm motivated - have to hit that goal in order to put a chunk of my bonus towards our mortgage. Like I mentioned yesterday, I'm doing a modified version of the challenge I did last summer. I'm going to drink 80oz of water a day, work out 2x for 20 min each, and track what I eat. Already at 64oz of water today! And tracked everything so far - even the two little chocolates I snuck in. Also taking advantage of the last day before going back to work, getting several little projects done and catching up on laundry. Have a great day everyone!

I did a series of arm exercises with light weights yesterday. Nothing epic, but baby steps. The rain has moved out today and I plan to walk a mile.
I did well with food yesterday, but had an extra glass of wine which I won't do again.

My goal for January is to figure out how to enjoy exercise again. Last summer about broke me, what with training for a big October race all though the hot Texas summer. So then after that, between taking a much needed rest, having a big work event, and getting Covid, I barely moved in November. I did better in December, but I wasn't enjoying it and really had to force myself to get any steps in.
So, whether I find a new exercise or figure out how to enjoy running again, I need to get back to at least not hating all movement. I know I'll feel better once I get there.

It's become a endless loop of gain weight, experience joint discomfort, and move less so gain more. I have to break the cycle NOW I'll echo all of this. I'm still walking miles with my pups, but that's been about it for awhile. I'm already pretty decent on the quality of food choices (although I could do with less cheese in my diet, as hard as that is to say lol...) but the other things in the list need some work. I stopped in at the Y and signed up with their "resolution special" of no initiation fee and the 1st month free. this location is in the development across the cranberry bogs from my house, literally a 2min drive. I'd walk, but there's no sidewalks on the curvy road. I don't think I'll get there today, as it's my first day back to work from the holidays, but tomorrow will be a thing. pups will be at daycare, and there's only one call on my work calendar. time to reacquaint myself with working out on the regular. as far as measurable goals, I'd like to see myself under 200 again. I'm about 215 now. first goal is to fit comfortably into my jeans again. I'm not sure if I'm more uncomfortable in them because they are too tight or that I haven't worn sized pants with a button and zipper on the regular since before COVID. both are valid, though.

We are going back to the gym tonight. Apparently our diet plan is going to be I can't afford groceries. I ran in the grocery store to get zucchini, bread and milk. They had no zucchini and it was $9 for bread and milk.

I think the price of groceries alone is going to be enough incentive to eat healthy this year. But I need to keep my activity level up, too.
So, the goal this year is to maintain the 30 pounds I've lost, and maybe see if I can lose a bit more. Right now I'm focused on losing the doggone 4 pounds I regained over Christmas. So far I've lost one pound. And seriously, there is still too much holiday food around the house. I freeze leftovers to be practical (cost of food don't cha know) but I'll be glad when the treats are gone. Plus, produce is cheaper here closer to summertime (I've got a grocery budget I need to try to stick with).

I don't know my weight I will grab that Sunday. But my goals are to gain more muscle, to keep my blood pressure under control, and hopefully less doctor appointments.

Thank you for starting the new thread, ners. I ended the year with a 24.6-pound weight loss from my highest in March 2022. My goal this year is to re-lose (?) the 10 I gained from being down with bronchitis and subsequent holidays along with an additional 30. I'll reread my 2022 goals to see if I need to address anything else. Hugs to everyone. We got this!

So yesterday, I ran 7 minutes/walked 2 4 times. I should be able to run longer, but haven't been very consistent since the time changed and I quit running outside. My joints are also very finicky. I got some Adidas ultraboosts for Christmas, and they're awesome for my knees, but my ankle got a little tweeked, so idk.
Also, abstained from alcohol completely yesterday. Only about 1-2 ounces today.
I need to lose 2 pounds by next week for a drawing at work. I hope I can do it. I'm on a thyroid med now, but that doesn't seem to be doing much for my weight.

At the start of 2022 I needed to lose 25 lbs. I lost 12 but gained back 4 over Thanksgiving and Christmas. That means I have a goal of losing 17lbs this year.
I had a doctor's appointment a few months ago and she was delighted I'd lost the 12 lbs and asked if I'd been doing anything special. I replied rather ruefully that I've just been eating less food. She laughed and said "that's really the only way to do it".
