since yesterday, I have had two (well off white male) friends reach out to me via PM, to "let me know they are horrified at the decision" and proceeded to then get bent out of shape when I started to explain all of the things that are coming next, and that this is why I was so pissed when they both told me they voted tRump and twice. I had to walk away from both conversations, before I blew my stack. you've both gotten incredibly condescending when I bothered to point out your own BS re: 45, or ridiculing Biden for his stutter, or whatever. here's your fucking alternative. one of the two (who happens to live in MA like I do) told me today that his wife needed a D&C after a miscarriage, and that he was astounded to realize that if they lived elsewhere, that she might not have had the same care. hello? do you get it now?

I felt that way and did leave my birth state. My adopted state is better although I live in the more conservative part. Not sure what I would do if civil war leads to it attempting to split off, which I see as likely. Not that I want to experience it at all, but I am curious what a civil war would look like in this day and age, especially with one side being anti-gun. There's a difference in being "anti-gun", and not owning guns. Most of the folks I know who vote Democratic are gun owners. They just don't want anyone to be able to purchase military-style guns.

True, but not many Dems with big arsenals in their basement either. Seems like the red states would be better prepared for an actual old style war. Here's hoping it never actually comes to anything like that.

But, there are a lot of deer hunters who live near me, and frankly, Democratic or Republican I wouldn't want to be the idiot who tries to break into their home. It wouldn't end well.

Well, ours are locked up, don't know how quick we could get to them. We have several guns but not a lot of ammo so couldn't fight for long. I tried to buy a bit more and couldn't find it, everyplace was out. None of this is going to end well, no abortion and everyone allowed guns.

Its difficult to.imagine and definitely hope it never happens, but the blue states have more money and I have nothing to back this up, but they have a reason to work together. How well is the side fighting for personal freedoms going to band together to make any unified military offense. Are the people with 45 guns going to share with others to create a militia?

I know I don't belong in this country and I have known it for 20 years. Leave when you are young. just out of curiosity, but what do you see as YOUR obstacles?

I tried to go live in Canada when Dubya was elected. I was short one point on their online test. I don't know if they use the same one, but I would lose a point for each year I got older. I'm probably in the hole by now. Money and health care are my other obstacles. I'd have to be able to take my cats and not have to quarantine them for 6 months.

I don't own a gun. Never have and never will so come and shoot me.
I don't believe in hunting with guns. Let them use bow and arrows and spend their time tracking their prey.
When I briefly joined a dating site for older people, all of the guys around here had photos with their hunting prey. Not interested in a single person who thinks that makes him all sexy.

If it was an actual civil war wouldn't the military choose sides as well and take whatever they could?

My DH hunts with bow and arrow and guns. He does it mostly because he enjoys it but it does supplement our food supply. He also works almost 2 full time jobs, so asking him to put in the effort that they did in the pioneer days is a bit much.
And he will be the first to tell you that it is not pretty or sexy. I have helped him skin, cut, and package meat. REAL hunters do not make a show of it.
Dems are not anti gun, just tougher requirements. I did not want to mention the prospect of civil war, but it's probably coming if things keep going this way. Hell, I'm at a stage where I can't have kids and I'm ready to go to war over this bs.

I wonder if one caused the other, or if this was just a thing waiting to happen. because he's been pretty solidly red until that recent bill.

And, in more great news from Texas, this is a tweet from my US senator today Senator John Cornyn @johncornyn Now do Plessy vs Ferguson/Brown vs Board of Education. Good Lord. I am pretty much speechless about all this shit. I knew racism and all the other -isms and other discriminatory bullshit was still alive and well in this country, I’ve been telling y’all that since back in the MSN days. And I clearly remember how back then, posters didn’t really take what I was saying seriously. I remember talking about the KKK having rallies in Memphis, TN, and posters saying it wasn’t that big of a deal. But even with me knowing what life is like where I live, I didn’t see all this bullshit coming. I feel myself sinking into despair. I am so upset, I’m in tears. I am so afraid for my children, Mister’s children, my Grandbabies and whatever children Mister’s children might have one day. I don’t understand how any of this can even be real. As much as I want to be a good Christian, I am struggling very badly. I’ve never been one to turn the other cheek, I prefer an eye for an eye, even though I know that’s not how I’m supposed to be. I don’t know how to love my enemies either, even though I know I’m supposed to do that too. The best I’ve ever been able to do was to just not wish or inflict harm on my enemies. I’ve always been honest that I’m a work in progress. But too much is just too fucking much. Now they are openly coming for my babies, my children and my grandchildren. That changes everything. I will sacrifice my life, even my soul, to try to make sure they are okay. I have lived my whole life trying not to harbor hatred in my heart. At this point, I no longer care.

My generation and our children, we are not our ancestors. The scary thing about the problems in inner cities is that we have a lot of young people doing crazy shit because they literally aren’t afraid to die. If they can be convinced that we all have a common enemy, then what?
I don’t see this shit going well AT ALL.

I will sacrifice my life, even my soul, to try to make sure they are okay. I have lived my whole life trying not to harbor hatred in my heart. At this point, I no longer care. I'm struggling too. With my fundamental spiritual beliefs, with any sort of hope for or belief in my country. I've been through some tough stuff in my life and pride myself on resilience and strength but last night was one of my worst ever. I'm lucky that Houston and Harris County is a blue oasis in a red state, but that also makes us constant targets of the state, continually screwed of funds we are legitimately entitled to. But I'm lucky in that my skin color doesn't make me or mine a target, unlike you and yours. And that's the saddest damn thing I've ever said. Yet, there is hope because we must make it so. And we can and will fight on, perhaps more fiercely than before, in defense of those we love.

Cut those mofos off and let them fend for themselves. It won't stop with those 2 cases. They want to go all the way back to the pre-Civil War days. And they're not hiding who they are anymore. Sadly, I think Lincoln made a mistake in not punishing the side that lost the Civil War, and we're all paying for it now. JMHO.

I can't figure how to get to Canada. Maybe after all of this DN1 and his wife will go through the process of getting citizenship. I have no idea of what their plans are.
I would have to look in to Costa Rica but going where I no nobody and don't speak Spanish isn't appealing.

I don't speak Spanish either, but if a group of us bought houses in the same community, I'm sure we could help each other out. What's really sad is, my DD is dating a really nice young man, and the two of them are already talking about what country it'd be safe to raise children in, outside of the USA. Way to get rid of your educated citizens. Idiots!

When we bought the Jeep, I started joking to Mister that it could be our getaway vehicle if we ever had to run from the zombies. I also joked about how we could team up with a couple of other military couples we know that know their shit, to defend ourselves from zombies. I would be the weakest link, being the only one without the training they all have, so I would take care of the children and be their support, while they all used their skills to defend us.
It was all just me joking around about zombies.
It’s not really amusing to me anymore.
