My cat-rescuing and fostering friend (lots of litter and hair on the floor) tried a pricey Dyson before switching to a Shark. She said it should have been named "Die-son" because that's exactly what it did within a year.

We're on our way to planning a Disney cruise. I found an agent I like and we are getting dates hammered out. Deposit can be refunded up to 90 days before. We decided after discussing it to keep going and not let my manager rule our entire lives. Especially now thar I know we can refund the trip worst case. Working in a day at the magic Kingdom too. It isn't as much as I thought to bundle a day in and since it's also Disney we can use their shuttle service to get on the cruise. I'm excited. This is my first time planning a trip this big. Boreno was handled by the college I just paid the bill. This will hopefully be a big memory for the kids too which is my goal. My dad still talks about when he went to Disney World as a kid. I don't know which airline you prefer to use. I just booked tickets to FLL on Southwest Airlines. Costco had Southwest gift cards on sale. $500 value for $430 purchase price. Southwest is nice for longer trips because you can check bags for free. Whichever airline you fly, you want to arrive at least one day before your scheduled cruise departure. Cruisecritic.com has a lot of good information about Disney Cruise Lines and the port on their message boards. We flew in the day of our cruise last year, but Royal Carribean arranged the flights and guaranteed we'd get to the ship on time. They even shuttled us from the airport to the dock when we arrived. It worked pretty slick. I wouldn't trust it if I was doing the flights on my own.

eh. it really depends on the time of year you're going, TBH. I cruise generally in January and the last couple years again in April. I might fly in day of for the April one, but never for January. there was one year I ended up having to drive to Tampa in order to meet the boat because the east coast got clobbered with a massive snow storm. it's just nice to have the buffer in case of delays. that said, organizing everything through the cruise line definitely gives more security to having the boat wait for you (for delays) along the same lines as booking shore excursions through the cruise line as well. the boat will wait if you're delayed, but if you're on your own, you're really on your own there.

Cruisecritic.com has a lot of good information about Disney Cruise Lines and the port on their message boards. We never, ever fly in the day of a cruise. I know many people do, and if you get air through Viking, they will fly you in the day of the cruise…..but if there is an airline snafu, Viking is responsible for getting you to the next stop if you miss the ship. On the world cruise, Viking booked all airfares (it was included in the fare). We flew in early to do some last minute toiletry shopping so we didn’t have to haul 6 months of toothpaste and other crap with us, and meet up with friends for a day. The day we were leaving FLL, half the airports in the US were snarled up due to weather issues. Viking wound up having to fly people down to Cozumel because they missed the ship. CruiseCritic.com does have some excellent advice on their boards. If you go into the roll calls, you can find people who are on your specific cruise. The general board for Disney Cruises has info about other things like packages you can buy (drinks, WiFi, excursions). There is also a board for first time cruisers that give advice on cruises in general, and some rules for cruising in general (like not bringing heating pads or extension cords as they’ll get confiscated as a fire risk).

I know if you stay at a Disney hotel first, they'll take you to the cruise port. It's not free but it's nice to be picked up. I've seen the busses at the hotels.
I would fly in at least the day before. DH's anxiety would make me nuts if we went day of. Plus we are leaving the end of January. We are leaving a few days early to spend his birthday in Florida.
Get the lightning lane pass for Magic Kingdom since you are doing one day. I could write a novel but if the travel agent doesn't lay it out, let me know. My sister in law lives in Mickey Mouse's backyard so I'm there several times a year.

The stick vacs seem like they'd be real light and easy to maneuver, but I would worry about the tiny canister size with dogs. I typically only vacuum once a week or so and fill the big canister with cat hair. I suppose if it's easy to pop the canister off to empty it's probably a non-issue.

One cruise out of Miami would have been missed had I planned to arrive the day the cruise left the port. On another, flying out that morning in plenty of time, there was a delay in Seattle and DD and DSIL missed the cruise in Anchorage and rented a car to drive like a bat out of hell to the next port - which they almost missed.

We're going to come in a day before. Since we'll be there I figured why not a day in the park?
I think one day at the actual park will be enough for me.
Currently getting ready to attempt Dolly Partons cranberry mold. Fingers crossed it comes out.
ETA: mold successfully found its way into the fridge and not all over the counter, floor or Wilbur. So one obstacle down.
Now we wait.

Yeah, I have no problem emptying it after each room. my house is only carpeted in the bedrooms and half of the basement. sounds like this might be a good call for that price.

MPL that shark looks nice, I am tempted to buy it myself.
DH and I finished washing carpets at 2 am. Used the black light flashlight to show everywhere puppy hit, let me just say it is a good thing the carpet in the bedroom is 19.5 years old. I think we will be replacing it soon.
I got up about 6:30 am, and laid back down about 10:40 for an hour. I am wiped out after several days of marathon cleaning. I worked till 9 pm Monday and 6:30 yesterday.
I have to wash the kitchen floors and clean bathrooms. DD’s flight should land about 12:25 am. DS is coming to help after he is done working- 3:30 pm. DH took his mom to a Dr. appt this am & is working.
DD has to be in Salt Lake city Sunday for a work team building/networking event, so she is leaving Friday. I have a Mani/pedi at 9 am and then either work work or work at mom’s both on agenda for this weekend.

I'm sitting with my coffee, trying to plan out my day. I need to do a Walmart run for pup stuff, so that has to happen this morning. most people that don't just take the day or full week off don't start to trickle out of work til after lunch. it will be nutty enough in the morning. it's late enough now that the UPS store will be open and I can drop off the shred pile as well. anything else I pitch while finishing the office purge, I can handle myself. my shredder just isn't high capacity. I think it's probably best that I spend the day in the office again and just crank that out. it already looks fantastic in there, and all I really did was clear off the desk. has anyone heard of good Black Friday sales on vacuum cleaners? my animal-rated Dyson hasn't been doing great for awhile now, it's 8 or 9 yo at this point. between Punk and me, we've worn the damn thing out. I just ordered an Eufy robo vac from Amazon. The dog hair is just too much to keep up with. My friend recommended the Eufy because it's short enough to go under the couch. I'm hoping it helps! It was $129. I have been sweeping with a broom and just can't keep it swept up. I love my dog very much, but she is the last dog I'm gonna have, mostly for this reason.

Just got out of a shower after putting up 3 strings of X-mas lights outside on the house. Lots of steps and my arms are tired from carrying the ladder.

There was a recent story in the paper that I read (while on a cruise) where someone flew in the day of the cruise where the ship was departing at 1 pm. They figured that their flight's scheduled arrival 90 min before the ship was due to depart plenty of time. They were flying from NYC to FL for their cruise. When they were interviewed by the paper, they said they had informed the ship that their flights were delayed.....why didn't the ship wait?

I can tell it’s the day before a holiday weekend. Supervisor responded to an email but missed the very important 3/4 of it where I explained he needed to either schedule a call or delegate it. (prodded him about it later, “what call?”) Firestorm all morning arguing about things, heavy on the “why don’t you know all this lore from before you started 2 years ago.” Clueless coworker hopping in and “helpfully” offering to take on the high-visibility part now that I’d done the legwork to get the necessities figured out. And had also spent time explaining everything to him, even though he was at the same meeting I was. Very out of character for supervisor to miss things like that. Although the last bit is sort of par for the course

I'm not aware of any deals, but wanted to say that after two Dysons, I switched to Shark and I think the Shark is even better..or at least as good...for a lot less money. Amen! I'll only ever own a Shark going forward. Mine is so old I don't remember buying it. We put it through some things with all the hair floating around here.
