This is my last day at work this week. I probably shouldn't have taken off tomorrow, since I'm slammed. However, normally I take the whole week of Thanksgiving off. Also, tomorrow is the last day to put flood debris at the curb for pickup so we'll hit the garage hard. I really dialed back Thanksgiving this year, but it will still be good.

Looking for air fryer recommendations. We are a family of a 4 so don’t need a small one. 😁

Looking for air fryer recommendations. We are a family of a 4 so don’t need a small one. 😁 Depends on what style you are looking for. We did not like the basket style after using it and switched to a countertop version that air fries, bakes, toasts, has rotisserie, etc. ETA - This is what we have link . We went basic with dials because DH has issues with touch things, and living in the country we lose power often. We plug into surge protectors but for us the digital never survives.

I was highly amused yesterday that DH was on camera for zoom with his whiteboard full of complicated equations in the background…just in case the math teacher got any funny ideas meanwhile DH finally noticed that the spot on the ceiling in my office from a long-fixed leak by the chimney looks horrible on zoom when not blurred and is now motivated to fix the cosmetics. Win!

I slept in a little this morning. there's something about the angle of the sun this time of year, that between about 730-9am, it streams in through the tall trees and feels so cozy on me while I'm snuggled in bed. that feeling is the biggest thing I miss about my old townhouse, the sun rose on the back side of the house and my bedroom wall was all windows. that was amazing!
Punk is currently giving me stink eye because I'm standing at the kitchen counter "desk" with my tablet to catch up in here and do some online shopping. sorry, kid. I have some shit to do. on the agenda today is to start on my home office. I turned over the old batch documentation when I was in person a couple weeks back, but there's still all the stuff I have signed and scanned in 2024 that needs to be cleaned out. I will be bringing whatever turns up to the UPS store for shredding. there's a stack already a foot tall from 2023 that I never got around to destroying.

Taking a green tea break after cleaning the bathrooms and mowing the front yard. Tomorrow I will bake the pumpkin pie, vacuum the rugs, and make the cinnamon streusel coffee cake for Thursday morning breakfast.

Wow, my doctor just called to let me know I also have RSV. Good grief. That does explain some things, though. I don't know if I've ever had it. DS had it as a baby--one leg would collapse when he was toddling around. But he got over it quickly. Do I sound like I'm in denial? Oh no! Hopefully you feel better soon. Fingers crossed.

I was supposed to take off all week (3 days PTO in the end) but I did work yesterday. I didn’t finish everything I needed to do Friday but I made great headway yesterday so I’m off today and tomorrow. DH took DD1 to school so I could sleep in and I took DD2 to daycare. I’ll pick up DD1 from school as I told her I’d take her to a used bookstore today. I did about 10 minutes worth of work but I’m logged off and getting things done before both DDs are home!

Trying to do my self assessment for my performance review. It’s been a crappy year and I keep asking for more work; having trouble continuing to be motivated and use my work time wisely, and they gave me the subcontract from hell to manage too with bonus random defunding Hard to be all rah-rah-give-me-a-raise. The good news is that it basically takes an act of God to get anything other than the standard raise, up or down. Or possibly setting the building on fire I’m probably overthinking this.

I completely quit doing the self-assessments a few years ago. I got the same raise as my cohort the first year and promoted the second. I should have quit doing them a decade ago. Maybe now they think I'm too busy? And before when I sent them they're like...well...she didn't do much according to her assessment.

I am hoping that tonight goes better than last night. Kiddo spent the night again which meant that Mister slept in the bed with me last night. Or tried to. Around 1am, he got out of bed, and whatever I was doing that disturbed him so much, I was awake enough to know he was leaving when he did. I could not go back to sleep, and a couple hours later my stomach started acting a fool enough that I was actually glad he’d left the bedroom. I was having so many issues with pain and running back and forth to the bathroom, that I was still wide awake when everybody else started getting up in the morning. I hadn’t slept at all, not even dozed off for just a few minutes, because my stomach wouldn’t let me. I have been awake since then, even though I laid in bed and tried to sleep after the house quieted down again. Ao of course I have not eaten anything today either. I know people have recently been suggesting that not letting my stomach get empty will probably help with my stomach issues. But my stomach was not empty last night. I ate dinner last night, and it included some fiber. I’ve been dealing with this for almost 2 years now, and it really does not seem to have much to do with what I eat, or what’s in my stomach or not. In my experience, when my stomach really goes haywire like that, it doesn’t stop until I guess there’s nothing left in my gut for it to fuss with. That is why when it was happening constantly, the only thing I could figure out to do, was just not eat anything at all for days, so I could try to be able to go to work. But the physical exertion of working made me hungry, so I’d eat something basic like baked chicken and rice, and even that would start the cycle all over again, with my stomach rebelling and acting a fool. So it seemed like the best way to try to avoid all of that, was to not out anything in my stomach at all, for as many days as I could avoid it. So that is why I haven’t eaten anything today. I need to get up early tomorrow morning to work my side gig, and I won’t be able to do it if I’m up all night again tonight, when I’m already beyond exhausted from last night. I did not do anything productive today because I felt so bad and was so tired. Which means I haven’t washed my work clothes or did other laundry, I haven’t shampooed my hair, I haven’t done anything I needed to do today. I most definitely did not do any housekeeping and both sides of the kitchen sink are full of dirty dishes, even though I ran the dishwasher yesterday. The trash can in the laundry room is overflowing and has trash on the floor around it, even though Mister did empty that trash can yesterday morning. Right now, I don’t even care about the dirty dishes and the trash. I only have enough energy to concern myself with what I need to do tomorrow. I'm not a doctor nor do I play one on TV. I'm convinced that your stomach issues are caused by stress. Your home environment is very stressful and contentious. I think you'll have stomach problems until things are resolved or you move out.

Recovering from cataract surgery yesterday. Still shaky but starting to see although blurry Going for check up at 10:00 Will complain about sedation. When I had right eye done I had no pain at all although I was able to see what Dr was doing - very strange with lazer light show This time it was quite painful. I should have told Dr to stop and get more versed but I didn’t. Just overwhelmed I’m a natural redhead although white now. I did anesthesia research for 15 years and it’s well known that redheads need more meds for anesthesia. Told the anesthesiologist that I was natural redhead and probably need more sedation. He was old and just repeated redhead. I think he probably gave me less Oh well as long as surgery went well Right eye is great. I don’t need glasses Just a head’s up that if you need (or think about needing) to take vision correction of your driver’s license…..don’t. TD and I both had cataract surgery, along with vision correction. I don’t need glasses or contacts at all, TD needs readers. He went to change his license and the local DMV has made him get an eye test every 6 months, or they’ll cancel his license. The last time, his optometrist wrote a letter to the DMV telling them that his vision correction is permanent and there was no need for eye tests every 6 months over the last 3 years. He spent 4 hours at DMV a week ago trying to get things straightened out and it still got f#$&ed up on their end. Another 2 hours there and it might be right (but he still hasn’t received his new license yet)….but who knows? I chose to leave the vision correction on my license to not have to jump through those hoops. If someone asks, I have contacts in. It’s just not worth the effort.

DS had it as a baby--one leg would collapse when he was toddling around. But he got over it quickly. Do I sound like I'm in denial? Is RSV the thing they give babies vaccinations for? I don’t feel like Googling it to make sure. When my DGS was a baby, he got it, or whatever I’m thinking of that’s similar that they give babies vaccinations for, right after he went to daycare. We ended up taking him to the ER because he was so sick, and they admitted him and ran tests to see what it was. When the test results came back showing what it was, they asked DD if anyone else in the house was sick. The answer was yes, and guess who that person was….. ME! I got sick after DGS did. That is when I started trying to stay away from him and the Grandbabies that came after him, when they were sick. Because let me tell it, Kiddie germs have superpowers. I did care for DGS when he was obviously not feeling well when he and I got home from the hospital after my second Grandbaby was born. I cuddled with him and let him fall asleep in my arms. But that was extenuating circumstances, DD couldn’t care for him because she was at the hospital after having just given birth to DGD1, so I took care of DGS and loved in him regardless of what germs he might have been sharing with me. But under normal circumstances, even when they all lived with me, as much as I love my Grandbabies, if they were sick, I tried to avoid being exposed to the superpower of kiddie germs. Yep…..but apparently it makes adults pretty ill too. There’s a vaccine out for that now, but I didn’t get it because I figured Covid, flu and pneumonia vaccine I got last time was enough!

I used to phone my self assessment in, just doing ratings with no comments. Last year our HR said that anyone who didn’t fully complete with comments their self assessment would not be bonus eligible. I chose not to test to see if they were serious. I don’t know why, but writing that each year is the bane of my existence!

Fresh cup of coffee, and I’ve got a cat on m6 lap sleeping. I’ve got a call into my Viking agent about am email I sent him, but will give me a few more minutes before waking up before calling him.
Not raining now, it poured most of yesterday. The stream TD built running along side the edge of the property is running well. He built i5 up to stop the erosion of the natural stream.
I hav3 lunch today with m6 neighbor. I have no idea where to go. There are only about 4 restaurants on our rotation she likes. We need to branch out and find something new but her requirements are hard. No burgers or sandwiches. That eliminates 90% of the lunch menus in town.

Just having trouble figuring out WTH I did all year.
