Random stuff…. I have heard a few country songs that I liked. It’s not my “go to” genre of music, but I don’t think it’s all horrible.
I mostly listen to R&B, old hip hop, neo soul and rap. This new rap is mostly a bit much for me, for a few reasons. I really, really want to like Jazz, and some of it, I do, but not all kinds of jazz. I wish I could really enjoy classical music, but it mostly just makes me sleepy lol.

Last night I listened to Janis Joplin which is a crazy good mix of soul, rock, jazz and just the whole human experience. Decades ago when I was a relatively young person, I saw the Alvin Ailey Dance Company produce a medley of her songs. The fusion of sound and movement was incredible; I sat in one of Houston's largest venues, mesmerized, surrounded by others sobbing as I was.

Today I saw something on FB that made me ask Mister if he wanted me to cut the grass. I was just playing, expecting him to say hell no, stay away from the lawn mower. Because the day it was delivered, he was so excited about it that he wanted me to learn to use it too, and in less than 5 minutes, I ran into the light post he had installed in the front yard near the driveway a couple years ago, and cracked the base. I started yelling, come get me off of this shit and get this thing, and I haven’t touched the mower since. I still feel really bad about cracking the base of the light. So that is why I expecting him to say “ummmm, no”.
But instead, he said “if you want to”. And then I was in a pickle, because even though I really wouldn’t mind helping keep the grass cut since we have a zero turn mower now, I was just bs’ing today lol. I said I will, but you’re going to have to show me how to use it. He said “that’s cool, I’ll show you if you want me to”. I got all confused, because that was not what I expected him to say lol.
And then he immediately got up and went and cut the grass. It wasn’t my intention to try to goad him into doing that, even though he’s been saying for at least a couple of weeks that he was going to cut it. It’s the end of the growing season and the grass isn’t tall, it just doesn’t look neat, and needed probably just this last mowing until spring. But I wasn’t trying to get him to do it today, in my mind, I was just playing with him about me using the mower, because we both know I immediately had an “accident” the first day he got it.
I wonder why he took that as a cue to go cut the grass even though he clearly wasn’t going to do it today, when he misses so many real cues, and also just plain ignores my requests for him to do something. But I’m not going to dwell on it, because I really am done trying to figure him out, I just thought it was interesting.

I prefer 70's and 80's rock, but Country is our go to Saturday night card game music...and cranking old country is how I survived both divorces.

I think old country music can have the same effect on the listener as old blues songs. It just depends on which genre the listener prefers. I grew up in a family that listened to Blues music sometimes, and I remember when I was in my teens, telling my Aunt that I didn’t like Blues music. She just said “just keep living baby”. And I’ll be darn, she was right!

Why is it that when I say "go lay down Jackson" he hears "stand directly in front of me and stare at me"? I hate that! I taught my dogs the “go to bed” and “go to your room” commands. Neither were dumb but did their best to appear so. Telling them to go lay down led them to either look around stupidly trying to find an appropriate spot and then just staring at me or collapsing on my feet with a heavy sigh at my unreasonableness. If I directed them to their bed they could still see what I was doing but weren’t underfoot. If I told them to go to their room it meant I was over their nonsense and they needed to go to their kennel in another room. That usually led to them going to their kennel and dramatically throwing themselves down with a huff and a groan.

Bought the first gift today at the farmers market, a great handmade wood and brass bottle opener. I'll package that up with some good beer for the guy next door, along with some of his fav Dead Sea salts bath soak.

We no longer have a blues station hon the radio here so I mostly listen to rock music but blurpes...that has my soul

We went to see DS#2 and his girlfriend last night. Before I left, I mentioned picking up a used crock pot for a crafty project. They said take the one from our garage, they did not have a use for a second one. On the bottom of the crockpot was duct tape with a name on it. My grandmother's name. Grandma is checking in!! It is a nice crockpot with a nice memory attached to it.

One thing DH and I really like about the cruise we are booked on, is the ship has a blues band that plays nearly every night. On last year's trip to Hawaii, the blues band sang a huge catalogue, we only heard a few repeats over about a dozen nights of enjoying their show. So many great songs and fun to watch people dance.

It is unreasonably warm so I am outside on the deck while the twins run around. This is such a great house.

Collards are my favorite green. I will not even bother cleaning and cooking greens at home unless they are collards.
If we are out to eat at a restaurant, and somebody else did the cleaning and cooking, then I'm not picky. Collards. Turnips. Mustards. Just don't come at me with cooked kale and try to pass it of as "southern greens".
I'm glad you enjoyed your volunteer time soup! While I'm sure the social interaction did you a world of good, I'm sure the people that benefitted are more than grateful. I grew up in a food insecure household. Trust me when I tell you those recipients are thankful for your hard work.
One day when I grow up, I hope to have the eye for design that Chole has. That tablescape is so impressive! I hope you enjoyed a great meal and made wonderful memories!
Nobody touches my lawnmower. I bought this mower when Kiddo was about 1? I told DH very specifically that he was never to touch it. Back when he had his old job, I came home from work one day and the grass had been cut. I was not happy. I was angry. Because he used my lawnmower. That was the last time. To his credit, he does the weed eating, the trimming of limbs, etc. I just don't want him touching my lawnmower.
No input on why anybody would think that was a subconscious prompt to cut the grass. But, as you can probably already tell, I'm weird when it comes to the grass. I cut it and I cut it when I cut it and that's that. No insight there.
My musical tastes are less eclectic than DH. I listen to a lot of things, but there's a high probability that whatever I'm listening too was considered popular at one time or another. DH on the other hand really listens to anything and everything.
There are days where we are just all home and going through the motions. I have been known to throw music on the TV and have a dance party in the living room. There are sometimes in life where we all just need a dance party.

Today was a huge bust. DH and I both felt bad after eating takeout last night. He was better this morning, me not so much. Felt like a ball was stuck at the end of my esophagus. Felt better after some antacids but then threw up. About 3 hours ago I got really cold and laid down. The kind of cold that nothing can warm. Slight fever. And then puked up the water I'd been sipping on.
Did I also mention that I twisted my knee Friday night? Very painful today. I need to get some meds in before bed, but in order to do that imma need something to stay on my stomach. I already have to take a pill with my pain pill for my knee so that it doesn't make me puke - even with food.

Caught a 20% sale on the Oofos site. I started having pain on the ball of my foot when standing or walking today, probably related to the twisted knee. I don't see anything obvious there, probably a bruised bone, but it hurts even in slippers. DH has been after me to get a pair since I am in slippers 90% of the time I am home, so I happened to look today and caught the sale.
I ordered a pair of mules in Purple Jade.
ETA - I also ordered myself a heated shawl.
