DD always has and maintains a painstakingly organized and prioritized wish list. For DS, 30, I'm at a loss. He's a minimalist and mostly gets himslef things he really wants. Any suggestions? Didn't he move to a new city last year? Since "stuff" isn't his thing, what about experiences? Is there any sort of venue - museum, concert series, golf course, zoo, culinary classes, art classes - that he might enjoy a season's subscription to? As a wanna be minimalist, I second these suggestions. I love getting gift cards for memberships for things or places that I would normally consider frivolous. Last year my mom gave me all consumable items and a gift card deluxe car washes. It was so nice to just be able to go whenever and not feel guilty about the cost and how I could have just washed it at home for free.

Maybe less exciting to open but gifts that last.

Pretty irritated this weekend. A project for work got dropped in my lap last Tuesday near the end of the day. It takes 2-3 days to review the client information before getting started. After that, depending on the size and scope, it usually take's 3-4 weeks to work on it to submit for client review before it gets sent in for manufacture. By Wednesday of this week, the client is demanding a submittal before Thanksgiving. I do not do slap-dash work. Period. To make matters worse, the client information lacks data required to complete, so I have to do a lot of common sense guesswork. I have notations all over the project that the client and three other entities are going to have to sort out and coordinate. On top of all that the salesman and Facility Design Manager say this is an “easy project”. There is no such thing any more! Bottom line, I am working the entire weekend to try to get this to the client the Monday after Thanksgiving.

I think I'm almost done with st. Nicks. I need to return a few things to walmart. DD1 has declared she is *done* with getting toys for presents. Because, you know, she is a 17 year old now. I think the only present my 22 year old is getting from me this year is Legos!
I scored a great deal on a Chromebook I've been following for Carrot at an early Black Friday sale, that and a record player for him are the only gifts I've bought at all so far. I just loathe shopping.
Interesting you’re buying Carrot a record player. Thought only hip young guys used them - but guess Carrot IS a hip young guy What kind of records does he play? YDS left a lot of 80s 90 s vinyl records here and I sold them for good prices. When I tried selling my jazz records, no interest in jazz greats like Mikes Davis John Coltrane etc

What kind of record player and where? I need a new one. Just not really sure where to start looking. I would like one with Bluetooth but not too picky otherwise. Just needs a radio and record player. I have a boom box for the cd and tape part.

We went to Nerdmas and had fun.
I found a sketch of the Joker from Batman The Animated Series to give Bob.
DH bought me a purse. They are Gothic themed purses and I oogle them every time I see them but wouldn't pull the trigger for $100. DH surprised me with it.
Found the cutest crochet mummy dressed like he is ready for winter. She only charged $12. I swear she was under selling herself I was ready to pay $30-$40. I hopefully paid it back because I got a butt ton of compliments carrying him around so I made sure to say which booth he came from. Happy to do some free advertising.

I have a big stereo system, but down-sized my entertainment center to be rather minimalist, so no space for a turntable anymore. It's just hooked up to the streaming services, a DVD player and a CD player.

He is a Metallica fanatic and looks the part of an 80's rocker with his long curly hair. I keep waiting for the school to call me and tell me he needs to do something about that.

Well, Chloe the cat has her recliner back and is happily sitting there grooming. She has really been on my case about it (and she is a very sweet cat) so I'm glad it's done.

Walmart wasn't as insane today as I thought it would be. I had to go there to get a few things I can't get at Aldi tomorrow.
Found the peppermint dog sandwich cookies Charlotte and Wilbur went nuts over last year.
Excitedly gave them each one and Wilbur just looked at me. Jerk.🙄

Just got back from a late lunch. There is a diner in a town at the edge of this city. We have gone there for breakfast, decided to try it for lunch. It’s only been in business since 1909!
Anyway, yet another restaurant we frequent is getting shut down soon. It’s a local brew pub that does really good food and has a fantastic Scotch Ale. Building is getting sold out from under them, and th3 owners have decided this is a good time to retire. Their beer recipes are going to go away too. This is the second brew pub we have lost in as many years, building was sold under that one too. We lost a Greek restaurant in town. Owners wanted to retire and kids had no interest. One of the very upscale places left. Those were questionable circumstances. They were ‘closed for renovations’ but no renovations were ever done (or even started, we peeked in the window and all th3 glassware is still in place). My stylist told me that the accountant embezzled with the taxes, so who knows? A good burger place went away….another the owner wanted to sell during a boon, but a bust happened before it could be sold. It’s now a pho place.

On December 12 my senior trip group is going to an alpaca ranch. With a gift shop. With alpaca teddy bears. I'm going to hand over my YM card right now and I'm not pretending I have grandkids. Full disclosure my peeps. Even tone-deaf DH knew better than to say anything except, "have a good time, honey"

Well, I guessed wrong in sending a debit card with Carrot. So far they've been going to restaurants as a group and just getting one bill and all throwing in cash. I only gave him $30 in cash so he wiped out nearly all of it the first night.

Pink Cashmere look into townhouses. My condo is a townhome. We share side walls but each of us have a little patio, a balcony, a garage and our own entrance. If you put some extra insulation on the side walls, you won't hear your neighbors. As a woman living alone, I rather have people nearby. Added bonus, I don't have to worry about any exterior maintenance, which becomes more taxing as we age. We have an HOA, but doing your own exterior maintenance also costs time and money. You pay one way or another. I wouldn't like to live in a condo as part of a building. But a townhouse is a good alternative to an SFH. JMHO, but Mister is not going to change. Adults don't change. I'm a clear example of that. I'm disorganized and have some bad habits I've been trying to change for years and I can't. To me, if you stay there you'll always be angry and frustrated, and time goes by. We only get one life. Moving out doesn't mean you have to break out with Mister. Living together is not easy. You can be a couple, with each of you having your own home and visiting each other, going out, and enjoying each other's company. Even though it’s what I bitch and fuss about here, my real problems with Mister aren’t that he is disorganized or even really that he can be messy. It’s that we are no longer functioning as a team, trying to find compromises that we can both live with. We use to have the difficult conversations and work together to find a middle ground for the ways in which we were different. I absolutely am not perfect, nor do I expect him to be. Shit, I knew he wasn’t perfect when I chose to move here with him. But at least we use to work on things that either of us had an issue with, which meant more to me than the things about him that things that irritated me. That is one of the changes that I am so upset now. Another thing is that while I’ve been so busy overlooking his flaws that didn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things and trying to work with him on the ones that do matter, he was obviously judging me for what he perceived as my flaws, and holding them against me, without even telling me what he had an issue with, so we could talk about it and try to sort it out. That really pisses me off. And then there is the biggie, where he seemed to expect me to accept being disrespected in my own home because he refuses to set boundaries. Our issues are much deeper than a messy, nasty house and trash all over the house. That stuff is just symptoms, and not the roots of the real problems that have reared their uglass heads.
