I agreed to doing one of the readings at my aunt's funeral. I just remembered that I can't see. I have to hold print far away from my face and read like old people. That'll be cute during mass. Also, I never got to church so I hope I don't burst into flames.

Do you have reading glasses?
Drugstores have reading glasses in different strengths if that would help.

I do. I told T1 the same thing and her response was "take your glasses you old fart."

TFW has been charged with class D felony child abuse with $5000 bond but prosecutor is asking judge to deny it. She's not allowed within 500 feet of Lil sis but doesn't say how long.

Sis recorded the incident via video on her school laptop. Hoping that's the magic key to unlocking all of this. Would bet money that Teen coached her to do it.

Plus maybe now all these hotline calls become evidence, right? Trying not to get my hopes up but so hard.

I'm going to be cowardly and let legal aid tell Teen the details tomorrow. Plus I'm not sure how to interpret what I'm reading in the case file or what the outcome might be.

I am hoping for good outcomes for lil sis and BT. Such a rough and sad road.

WTG baby sis    I was wondering how BT could possibly be feeling responsible…I think “proud” is more appropriate.  School laptop is good, all kinds of mandated reporting and records.

Teen feels responsible for not living there to protect them. I have no doubt that she used to step in and take beatings meant for the younger sibs who are currently ages 11/boy, 9/girl, and 4/boy. I'm also beginning to suspect TFW beat the girls way more than the boys.

Pink - you and I are good. I appreciate you speaking up about corporal punishment in your past. I too have learned to parent without that as has DH.

I realized I should trigger warning some of the posts in case someone here has child abuse in their history. I wouldn't want to cause them trauma.

I stopped using trigger warnings a few years ago after a poster (who doesn't post anymore), who had been through a very significant trauma, wrote that there is increasing evidence that trigger warnings cause more harm than good because they actually promote anxiety.  I've looked up various articles that support that contention. 

There may be other articles that say the opposite but I've come down on the side that trigger warnings are 'nice not kind'.  I do think that most people use them with the best of intentions (this being a case in point) but for other people it's performative.  My local mom's group drives me crazy with the "trigger warning:  financial privilege" posts.

Looks like a hearing is scheduled for this morning at 830. It's titled 'Confin Arraign Doct Hrng'. Seems like this is where she hears the charges and enters a plea.

I can't tell when they might rule on bond.

We had a wonderful day yesterday in Santa Fe. En route we drove through the mountains which were breathtaking. We saw my two pieces on display at the gallery then had a great lunch before we headed out to see the site of the Pueblo revolt. We had a marvelous dinner, too. I can see why our friends moved to here from San Diego.

Today we're going to another art gallery, this in Albuquerque, where one of DH's pieces is in a political art exhibit. Not sure what else we'll be up to.

THis was the early dawn here yesterday. THere are no clouds in the sky, so it's pretty but blank.

ahh.....listening to a business review meeting, since they didn't provide a call-in number for me to be able to speak (my laptop mic has never worked. I can't find the settings to look into it, it's probably locked out by IT) I'm dropping off for another call in a minute. my GAF is seriously busted at this point. I've only got a few things left to close out by next Friday. one, I know won't be closed by then, but I'd like to get it to a point where it's an easy handover for the person inheriting it - who is not the one that expects me to spell everything out for her.  I'm done signing off for the one site, so I should be able to focus on that last task for another one. 

I'm going to decline the 90min "training" session for this afternoon and go take my dogs for a walk instead. I just really don't want to deal with that person today, the saccharine sweet personality is just pissing me off after holding a poker face in person yesterday.

I don't know what was going on with me this morning, but I got up, got dressed and ready for work, then woke up Carrot who I assumed forgot to set his alarm and he tells me "Mom, it's only 5am, go back to bed".  I actually argued with him and told him he must have forgot to change his clock (in which case it would have been wrong the other direction, but that didn't register), so he got up and showed me his phone as well.

I am baffled. I normally have two alarms, shut off the first and wait for the second 20 minutes later.  I have no recollection of even thinking an alarm went off so I don't know what was going on in my head.  All I can think is that I'm messed up from doing goat chores at the neighbors in the mornings this week and making sure my cousin's kid gets on the bus. My cousin had sent a Facebook message at 4:30am and that brief ding maybe got interpreted in my brain as an alarm?  Very weird.

Needless to say, I'm TIRED.  There are doughnuts at work today and I said screw it and had one hoping the sugar would help.

I was thinking yesterday BT probably coached her to record it.   School laptop is the place to record it because yes on mandatory reporting.
