Went shopping for a homecoming dress with Gwen.
Good God every teen from Omaha and Council Bluffs was in that store.
At least she picked one from the six she tried on so I don't have to do this again till the next dance.

Guess who spent some hours today, throwing away a bunch of crap in the garage and getting a bunch of other crap off the floor, to make room put a stupid air compressor in a spot where it won’t get run over? Hint….. not me. It turns out that it apparently fits perfectly between the 2 pieces of the shelving stuff I bought in early 2020, to try to keep things organized in the garage. That is against the back wall of the garage. But a lot of crap had to be dealt with to put it there. And he mounted the hose part on the wall above it, between the shelving stuff that’s attached to that wall. I am sure that there is still more that can be done in the garage, but I am still considering it a win. He still has a big car speaker that he didn’t know where else to move it to. I suggested the storage room (knowing that it is stuffed) and he said he’s going to take everything out of the storage room and go through it and organize it and throw all the unnecessary stuff away, but not today. I’m not holding my breath. I am excited to see the garage that may still be more cluttered than I prefer, but less than it has been. So what I have learned again, or really what has been reinforced again, is that when I can figure out how to make things that really bug me, become an issue for him that he has to deal it, he is more likely to at least somewhat resolve the issue. That won’t work for every situation of course, but it is something I will keep in mind. I will keep my car in the driveway for a couple of weeks, then I will put her back in the garage, since I no longer have to worry about running over the air compressor, in addition to all the other crap that may or may not still be on “my“ side of the garage. Once I see what’s what, if it’s still too much stuff on “my” side of the garage, I will see if I can move some of it to “his” side. On a side note, he definitely can see dirt and crap, he just chooses to ignore it. That was proven the first day I parked my car in the driveway. When he left his car in the driveway at first that evening, I was in the garage and me being me, because the space was empty and it was bugging me, I swept up all the debris that had been under and around my car. When he came outside a little while later, he asked “Did you sweep this side of the garage”, and I was like ummmm….. yeah. So he clearly noticed the difference, immediately. Anyway, I am glad he finally at least started cleaning up the garage. One of the first things that popped in my mind is you painting a border on the garage floor where you park your car. Tell him that anything that belongs to him that is inside that boundary line gets thrown out. I really, really like the way you think

Since I have very few visitors, I keep the plastic carrier on the floor by the kitchen counter. Amelia can't get her fat rear end up there without scratching the cabinets, but she doesn't scratch the cabinets if she jumps on the carrier first. She is totally quiet in the car. Both going to the vet and coming home to the vet. Maddow makes his anger at being in the car loud and clear. I do not make any extra stops with him in the car. I have been known to go to my drive thru coffee shop with Amelia in the car because she doesn't make a sound. I won't considerit with Maddow. I put the carrier on the island usually the night before we are going to the vet. They stick to me like glue in the morning, so it's easy to pick them up and get the door shut. When I had cats that played chase, I would shut the door to all the rooms except the bathroom. Once the cat went in to the bathroom, I closed that door and it did not open until the cat was in the carrier. I can't catch a cat this is under the bed and going from side to side. They can play the game for hours and I will not be able to catch them. The one Siamese that had a last vet visit in June didn’t really want to go in the carrier, but once in she was so chill. She would just lay down and we would have meowversations. Our last girl gets car sick. I can always tell by the pitch of her meowing that she is about to upchuck.

The only thing that works with Michi is chasing him around until I can throw a blanket on him. Then jump on him quickly and put him in the carrier. It's a huge hassle. I don't think a soft sided carrier would make any difference. He's very perceptive and the moment he sees a carrier he starts running Sushi used to run from the hard carrier. He doesn't run from the soft one.

Some areas got some nasty flooding due to high tide/high wind combination. Worse luck and it always happens. My place is ok, never even lost power. The hotel we all stayed at didn’t lose power, either. A lot of people got flooded and are still without power. Half dozen people dead from refusing to evacuate. I get evacuating is a pita and I don’t like it, either, but when death is the alternative it seems the lesser of two evils. Anyway, glad to be back home and in my own bed. How's the cat you're taking care of? Is he ok? Very angry at being left behind and let me know it but he’s okay, at least. I’m going to Memphis this Thursday to the following Tuesday. I had a Southwest credit and needed to use it. Can’t wait to see my HS girlfriend!! There’s another storm brewing out in the Atlantic and I’m hoping it just goes away. Or comes and goes while I’m in Memphis.

The problem is I'm rested after the weekend, and then the following week I'm like let's do all the things. And then Friday comes, and I'm tired but hopeful. And then Saturday comes and I'm tired. I haven't been a slug. DD1 and I ran errands and got her ready for hoco all morning long. I watched a little tv with DD2. I've got mini meat loafs in the oven, and then I need to bake one batch of cut outs yet today. (DD1 wants to decorate cookies with her friends at our house, and I'll still want to do it with the fam. So, two batches).

OAN, Mr. T’s Dad has moved back to the area, and has been coming over to chat with Mister. When the T’s moved next door, his Dad came down to help Mr. T move and rebuild his fence, and he started chatting with Mister and obviously came to like him. Back then, I would come home sometimes and Mr. T’s Dad would ask me when I got out of the Jeep, if Mister could come out to play lol.
When Mr. T Senior came back for a minute last year because his wife had died and her funeral and burial was here, he came over to chat with Mister. He moved back a few months ago.
He is something different and has a lot of funny stories to tell. The day Mister and I went to a big car show, when we got home, Mr. T Senior wandered over to chat. He is a car guy too, and had muscle cars when he was young, and he and Mister talked about old cars and details about them, details that were way above my level of understanding. I felt at the time that maybe that was a blessing, because while we were at the car show, Mister kept mentioning how much his Dad would’ve loved it, and after we got home, Mr. T Senior, who is just a few years younger than Mister’s Dad was, was talking car stuff with Mister. So in my mind, maybe that did Mister at least a little good, to have someone close to his Dad’s age to talk about old cars with, since he couldn’t share the car show experience with his Dad and was missing him. Idk, I’m just guessing and hoping.
Anyway, he came over again today, and he and Mister ended up going out to play in the Mustang. I was pretty sure that was going to happen eventually, because Senior was clearly interested in the Mustang and likes to play in powerful cars, even if he is just a passenger these days.
Mister told Senior that if he is going to keep encouraging him to let the Mustang run wild and free, Senior needs to keep some bail money on hand in case Mister gets arrested for reckless driving. Senior said “What you gon stop for? If you let them catch you, that’s your fault”. That pretty much sums up Senior’s story about his younger days and him being what I call a “character”.
Anyway, despite his crazy stories, Senior is obviously very smart about certain things. He understands and knows how to read blueprints for commercial buildings as they are being built, and can eyeball certain specs on a house. He also knows a lot about cars, what’s what under the hood and how to make it do this or that, or fix it. He told Mister exactly what he needs to do to fix the motor on the Lincoln, and said he will “supervise” Mister doing the work himself. So now Mister is on a tangent about doing as much work on the Lincoln himself, as he can, with Senior filling in the gaps of his own knowledge.
Idk if that will actually happen or not, we’ll see. Whether it does or not, I’m just glad that Mister has somebody to shoot the shit with sometimes, who can really talk car stuff with him, since he can’t do it with his Dad.

Got a lot done today for getting home close to midnight last night. Good day with DH. Made him get pizza for dinner since I cooked his breakfast for the next month. One of his old man friends (DH is 44, friend is over 60) showed up and they are on the front porch talking. I'm a little aggravated because they scared my cat off. I'd be happy if the cat was in the house with me. Plus I wanted to watch a scary Halloween movie. I might just go to bed ala Pink Cashmere

I hope you have a good night despite your aggravation.

It seems like I got a whole lot of stuff halfway done today, but no real finished projects. They're all waiting on something else to happen. I did get all my laundry put away though, so there's that.

DH and I navigated a challenging conversation tonight. He's responsible for cooking 2 nights a week and he has been using my leftovers from the freezer which I've sort of ignored for the last couple of months. Tonight he asked if he could use a chicken dish I made next Sunday and I said no, he can cook from scratch or get something pre-made from the store, but he can't freeload on my cooking. He's not happy, but he accepts it.

I've gotten nothing done since I got home on Wednesday. I realized I've been sick to one level or another for the past month. I had the cold from hell for the first two weeks, started to improve, and then crashed again when it turned into a bacterial infection. The meds seem to be working but are not fast.
I've been sleeping a lot, reading, and doing nothing that requires more than minimal effort. I haven't even unpacked my suitcase.
I'm so done with being sick.

Not as over whatever it is I've had the past two weeks as I thought.
I just woke up from a 2 hour nap.
Didn't think dress shopping took that much out of me.

Had a good time tonight and hubs did too. The dinner was so, so. Some of the ladies prepped it, I have a bit of upset stomach. The one cake I ate was delicious. It was kind of a nut, maybe apple type cake, really liked it.
We decided to have another reunion in 2 years as we will all be 80. 9 of us there came from out of state. Me the furthest, but one from Arizona, NC, Florida, Kentucky, and some other states. We have lost 22 classmates out of 70. So about 1/3 come, 1/3 don't, and a 1/3 are deceased. Lost about 6 last year.
DIL and DD and doing ok, sounds like she had one small soiling issue. Spaghetti and pizza will do that. She said Smokey no longer hates her, I figured he would come around, he is just very slow warming up to people.
Washing the cover for my Bona mop, went over dining room. I had used it before so it needed washed. I will do the other hardwood floors tomorrow will mop the tile.
We need to get going about 3 tomorrow to Indi I guess, this time I have a mask, so that is good.
Time for bath and kicking back, I'm tired. We could have stayed longer at the reunion, but I had enough and was ready to go.
