All the hugs azucena . That is a terrifying high adrenaline night. Adrenaline for sure. I feel asleep sometime around 2 am. Less about the seizures since I've helped her with dozens of them now. More about having to go all mama bear on folks to try to get her needs met. TGIF TGIF

Inspection was today. The house is great. There are some things that need to be fixed, but they're easy. I told the mortgage guy to move forward with the appraisal. Yay! I am so happy for you. That house is going to be yours!

Mister is in a mood. I think at least part of it is that his Dad’s birthday is tomorrow. A few days ago, he said he was going to invite his brother to go out to dinner today, for their Dad’s birthday. I guess his brother didn’t want to go since he never left the house after he called his brother again when he got home from work. I remembered that earlier this month was the day his Dad passed last year, but I’d forgotten that his birthday was also this month. I didn’t remember that until Mister said he was going to ask his brother to go out to dinner. So I guess this month has been more difficult for him than I realized, since I’d forgotten that his Dad was born this month, the same month that he died. Even though he had his game face on until today, and acted like he was okay. So I will give him a pass for being weird tonight, and just let him do his thing. I asked what he wanted for dinner after I realized he wasn’t going with his brother, he said he was good he didn’t want dinner. I didn’t press, I just said okay. Birthdays, anniversaries, the day of death. All of those things still affect me. Thank you for giving his some grace.

My head hurts SO BAD. I am actually in general starting to recover but there is a lot of crap in my lungs trying to get out I am going to go buy some liquid Mucinex on the way home tonight. We have the pills but they are HUGE, very hard to swallow.
My face freaking hurts it is like someone is trying to drill through the bridge of my nose.
I am so not being productive at work today. Between grandma, miserably failing that test and how my head feels fuck it I am DONE with this week.

Just got word from DD2. They are okay. No flooding but also no power. My mom is in central FL, and she is okay, also no power. I am glad to hear that. My cousin's daughter just got back into her house after the repairs from the last hurricane in July. She now reported that neighborhood is 3'-4' underwater. She is a Professor at a college in the area. She has owned her house about 8 years. Hopefully she will be able to continue to have insurance coverage, and to be able to afford the insurance premium.

NMD, with those government tests do they let you reapply/retake the test? Now that you know what to expect, maybe you can reapply in the future. I know my DH and DD have test anxiety issues. DD had to pass a test this month on evacuating a plane and she said she had to have a 3rd attempt. She said she knows the procedure; she just gets so nervous she messes up. She has been nominated for numerous awards in her first 6 months, but she is inconsistent on testing. She scored very well on all the written tests in training...she just had issues with the a few tests. I hope your headache eases up.
Andi-So glad the inspection went well. Hopefully they can process the financing quickly. Did you get your lease extended?
Zib - glad to hear from you-hopefully you can get back in your place soon and your friend's cat is in good health.
Finnime- beautiful picture, I hope your DD feels better soon.
Pink - both my grandmother's had birthdays earlier this month. I guess I remember the birthdays more than Day of Death. My Dad died Jan 15th, but I never observe it. I usually take Mom to the cemetery to observe his birthday though. I hope Mr's mood lifts soon.
DH had me get out the title to his Mustang. I guess he is going to sell it. He was debating this morning. I told him it is up to him, if he is worried about storage, he can make room in the 2 car garage at his office to store the car over winter. I looked up the Private Party value on my car and was surprised at how high it is. Looks like if the car is still available, we will take delivery. I also texted with someone in WI that successfully bought out the lease and captured the $6500 lease credit.

No you can't retake the test. If another position ever pops up I may consider it.
But I'm still probably not going to do great on it I never have been good at doing math on paper.
Come to think of it I don't think I have EVER had to solve standard deviation by hand. It was always with either a really good scientific calculator which I don't know if I'd be allowed to use or software like Excel.
I could probably rememorize things like calculating molarity but if I am not doing it every day like I had to in class I am going to eventually forget it again.
To me it was almost like asking someone to rattle off the periodic table. I know very few people who can do that anymore because memorizing it is not required anymore.
It doesn't mean they don't know it and can certainly demonstrate their knowledge both in discussion and on the bench. They just wouldn't be able to regurgitate it on a test sheet. They'd look just as stupid as I did yesterday.
Fresh out of school? May have been able to get that 60%. 20 years out of school? Not a chance in hell I just don't use that information in my day to day work.

I hope this day is solidly good for you and for BT, azucena. Congratulations on passing the inspection, andi9899! Glad you have power, gs11rmb. And NomoreDramaQ1015, you are NOT stupid or slow. I am a genuine math whiz and couldn't take a calculus course test without a struggle, or do differential equations for the life of me now in my dotage. Maybe I am no more a math whiz? Whatever. Most people struggle in their mature adulthood with things that they did with ease as sophomores or juniors.

From your description it sounds like the test was geared to recent grads.

I did my first fitness class tonight at the Y. I took a dance fitness class. My legs feel like noodles. I made it the entire hour. I'm not quite as out of shape as I thought I was. But I have a ways to go. I also need to get actual work out pants the leggings I have DO NOT breathe and get actual sneakers with cushion. I suggest any of the shoes in the Nike Winflo line. I work out a lot and then provide a lot of support. I do a lot of jogging and jumping up and down and they really do hold up well.

I am teaching my niece 5th grade math, and every lesson I have to go through and relearn things so I can teach her. Today I was reviewing a lesson on converting measurements, and I had no idea how many ounces are in a cup, or how many tablespoons in an ounce. I had like 3 years of calculus in college.

Elementary school for the slope thing. I don’t think you’d want to work for a place that thinks these things done by hand are a valid measure of whether you’d be a good employee. Still not great for the self esteem though.

Drama I met my former graduate school professor at an estate sale. Nice to see him but one funny thing stood out to me. I said don’t think I could even remember the Krebs cycle anymore. He said - neither can I Krebs cycle is basic ‘dogma’ of biochem , pharmacology etc Old but very true , if you don’t use it you lose it And hand calculating SD? Why??

Still not great for the self esteem though. This was a city job and I was wondering when the last time they updated the test was. It's probably as Peace said geared towards new graduates and a fast way to weed people out without having to look at resumes. Considering it is city HR and not water treatment plant people doing the hiring that actually now makes a lot more sense. An actual person working in a lab or with science would see my resume and know that with what I do I likely have experience with statistics, STDEV and can do basic alegbra otherwise I wouldn't have a job. An HR person would not so they need a way to "prove" I know it in an easy format they can follow. Still a blow to the self esteem though like you said.

I don't know what's wrong with me. Since I got that bad cold I'm really tired.
I was going to work from the office today but I was so tired I ended up staying in bed to the last minute and now I'm working from home.
Beautiful day today. I hope we get a few more like this one.
I'm thinking about my birthday gift to myself.
One thing I want is fillers in the corners of my mouth. They have been pronounced since my early 30s. As I age they're getting worse.
I know it's something so superficial. Looked online and apparently the treatment is just an injection. Costs about $350 in Uruguay. I could book an appointment online and they'll give me more information.
The only thing is it's last between 6 and 9 months. They put hyarulonic acid and it plumps the skin. I need something that lasts a year. Maybe they have other treatments that last a little longer?
I don't know.
I'm going to go back to the support group for weight loss. I need help with that. Also have to find a new doctor with the new insurance plan and make an appointment. I'm terrified of doctors. The last thing I want to do is go see one. A new one.
I hope everyone is safe from Helene. Congratulations to and for the new home. Azucena you are amazing with BT. NMD sorry about the test. It sucks.

The only lucky thing about this house is that the swllers needed to move after 10/14. I was hoping to have more time to work on it before I move. It needs a really good cleaning. You can smell their dog when you walk in. It's nit overpowering or anything, but I won't live in a stinky house. I also need to get some rooms painted and some outlets replaced. There is one small area where the fence isn't complete. They have chicken wire there instead and that's not going to contain the twins. I'd hoped to have 30 days to do everything. I'm instead going to have 10.
ETA: My lease is up at the end of October, hence the time constraints.

I can't imagine any job relying on hand calculated standard deviation. All of the stat calculations at my job are done by a software program so the auditees and the appeals process can recalculate to verify.
I am definitely happy it's Friday. I should be off today but swapped to next week to travel with my brother and visit our dad.

No. I don't want to do that. I'm not trying to pay for both. I'll just prioritize and do what needs to be done. First thing will be the fence so I can keep the twins there while we paint. My cousin will have to come the next weekend so he can replace the outlets and replace a wire on the breaker box. Meanwhile my dad, uncle and myself will paint. Priority will be my BR, the kitchen and dining room. I probably won't mess with the upstairs bedroom since it will just be an office, and I'm fine with the Grey walls. The loud colored BRs will be last since those rooms will sit empty for a little while until I buy more furniture.

That green color doesn't flow with the rest of the house.
