We are starting on painting again. We have both painted so many houses we are pushing ourselves to do this. Hubs went to Home Depot as the hallway light is some oddball luminare and does not work. He is going to get the same or just replace it, its a can light. I sanded off the ledges in our windows and cleaned that up, ready to paint around those, next will be DD's. Our blinds aren't coming in till about the 26th and we will be gone. We just have to get curtains up so this will allow us to do this tonight.
I took the filter cover off the spa tub and it is really cruddy figured it was. It is now soaking to get it off.
We are not moving very fast. We sit in our recliners in the morning and before you know it both of us are asleep. This is going to take forever. Maybe I can get motivated, sigh.
I am not pleased with my last Ulta appointment, my hair is now very dry. I ran down to Walgreens this morning and purchased some shampoo and conditioner that I hope will moisturize it. So washed and rolled it, I don't like blow dryers, today its drying naturally.
So back at it. And I'm tired before I really start as is hubs, we are some pair.

minnesotapaintlady ask if the eye doctor has a cancelation list. Out of all my doctors, the eye doctor has the worst scheduling/availability since covid. In my state contact prescriptions are good for 1 year and glasses for 2.

Hotline call made this morning. Had to find a kidless time with no work calls and right frame of mind to be factual and not lose my cool. Was on hold for 35 mins to even get through, then spent 55 mins reading the lady my notes.
Went to school and had informal accommodations mtg with junior class principal, counselor and school social worker all of whom have advocated for teen over and over.
Teen is going to drop Bio 3 because spending the first six weeks of school memorizing birds and the next six snakes is stressing her out and so not useful. She'll need a 0.5 credit of science in the next 18 months to graduate. DH dad joked her and said she's giving the bird to the birds.
She's going to audit poetics of hip hop bc it's first hour 3 days per week and mornings have been tough. But she doesn't want to miss out on it and calling the teacher out on certain raps lol. Getting to school about 9 am will be so much better. Means I'll continue to drive her back and forth to school but at least it's close.
Crazy kid is only 2 days behind on math homework after missing most of the last 3 weeks of class.
Principal asked teen how things were with her mom. Teen rolled her eyes so I filled her in on yesterday. Principal said full transparency mom called and yelled at her yesterday saying I had no right to know anything about teen's school stuff. Reading btwn the lines, principal just mom rail but didn't say much. Seems mom doesn't know that teen is listed by school as unaccompanied minor which gives her and me more rights including signing certain things and mtgs like today. They did ask teen if it would be okay for nut to sign these class change forms. We're pretty sure nut will do that. If not, school will take the next step.
Everyone is scared of principal bc she's old school with high standards but she hugs teen and teen has her wrapped around her finger.
School social worker also hotlined medical neglect as mandated reporter.
About 20 mins ago, children's services called me and they're sending someone over at 530 to talk to teen and us. So I'll be rearranging my whole schedule. I hadn't told teen I was calling bc she'd ask me not to as she's more worried about her siblings getting taken away and possible retaliation than she is about her own care. Teen is currently at her first day of babysitting for an amazing neighborhood family, so I'll have to confess when she returns. She's going to be pissed. DH told me to ask social worker not to out me but I've told teen we will always be honest with each other and there's no way that anyone else could have called in with so much detail besides me.
I'm pretty sure that this will set off seizures tonight so going to be a long one.

It's not just Texas where eyeglass prescriptions expire after 12 months. They did in Colorado and they do in Iowa. Medicare has never paid anything toward a routine eye exam. At the present, they are being coded as medical and they are paying for that. They are being properly coded. There are some issues going on that are medical. Glasses were not covered and I knew that. I didn't realize other states had that provision too. I was surprised a couple of years ago when I saw a vision exam in my schedule of benefits. There was a $35 copay which was a good deal, and they did a great thorough exam, but I just didn't want to wait 2-3 months to get in this time. Plus they use the dilating drops which means DH has to drive me while the independent optometrist uses a weird photo thing that doesn't require dilation. Seeing the back of my eyeballs on a computer screen is really strange but interesting. Years ago, when I was 30, the optometrist said I had the beginnings of macular degeneration and would likely be blind by 40. I'm 76 now and there's been no change. The good news is that my mild cataracts are no worse this year than last because I really don't want to have that surgery if I can possibly avoid it. At ny last visit, I had both the dilating drops and the photo because of the issues they were seeing. Apparently I have the beginning of glaucoma but the last time the pressure was checked, it had not changed. I go back in November. My doctor will be on maternity leave so I have to see someone I have never seen before. I have had both cataracts done and a medical laser surgery on one eye that was due to the movement of the cataract lens. That surgery was not fun and I saw psychedelic floaters for days. It was during tax season and I was staring at a computer all day. I came home with a headache every night even with taking my frequent walk downstairs and upstairs breaks.

I will be okay, and I have a lot of time to figure things out. I have a lot of notifications, I'll catch up some while I wait on my takeout order, and then more when I get home.

chiver78, so sorry to hear about the layoff. Twenty-one weeks of severance and Cobra until April is a pretty good payout. How long have you been working for this company? January would be 6 years. apparently the severance is a product of both length of service time and the tier at which my position is. one part was 10w, the other 11.

I did put older son on a list because I wasn't sure if he'd have vision insurance after this year since I'm dropping him, but now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure his dad does so he should still be covered in 2025. For myself it doesn't really matter. If they squeak me in towards the end of this year so I can use 2024 insurance then I'll just have the same problem next year with not being able to get in for the year since the appointments have to be at least a year apart. I guess it's possible something could open up in Sept or Oct giving me time.

chiver78 I am so sorry about the job loss. Adds a lot of stress to your life azucena I hope when BT thinks about after her initial reaction she will understand you are trying to do what is best for her to get her the medical attention she needs. I would love to see her calling out the teacher on the raps. How has she managed to do all of the math homework? Sounds like she is a very bright young woman.

thanks, all. I'll be okay, this just really wasn't how I thought today was going to go. I recognize a lot of ways this all could have been way worse, I just needed this afternoon to process all of it. I might check in with my teammate that I spoke to just before calling I (I gave home the quick version, but didn't tell him boss said 3 from each group. B didn't have a call scheduled, so I know he's safe.
order's up, I'm out for now.

Children do not have the life experience or emotional maturity to know what is best in certain situations.
That is why the adults have to step in.
I get Bonus teens feelings but the priority right now is her well being. You can't be the hero for everyone involved unfortunately.
Some people should have to have a license before they can reproduce. I admire your restraint acuzena I probably would have punched bio nut by now.

Sitting with my feet up. We had a weekend campout with some local friends and had a great time. Monday at 11:00 the plumber called and spent the afternoon hooking up my bathroom sinks. Monday at 5 pm our out of town friends arrive to spend the night. Tuesday at 4 pm my brother in law comes for a visit, staying most of the week to fish. Today, Wednesday, I have two more friends on their way through town and going to spend the night.
I am going to be peopled out. But I still need to go see Mom this weekend and help her get ready for TX.
There is gonna be a chunk of me time cut out pretty soon. Maybe that Badlands trip we have been trying to fit in. I can't wait for the weather to cool off. We have had 90 degree plus days for several weeks. I am ready for a 70 degree house and all the glory that is the fall season. Jacket weather Baby!!!

I've been through downsizing more than once, and while it's shocking & annoying, I know you'll get through it to something better. Just do a whole lot of nothing tonight, and if you don't like the "opportunities" your company has available, it's a great time for a fresh start.

I would love to see her calling out the teacher on the raps. How has she managed to do all of the math homework? Sounds like she is a very bright young woman. The rap teacher loves her and has emailed both of us saying how much he misses her spunk in class. He's already signed off on auditing the class. She's set to debate him about Hamilton lyrics in a couple of weeks as he says they aren't poetry. Today she went to her teacher education practicum and came home gushing about it. She's been getting up at 8 and doing two hours of math for the past several days. She only needs help occasionally and mostly I just get her started bc she missed the actual teaching. I've made a point not to ask or look how far behind she is but the group discussed it at our mtg this afternoon so that's when I heard. All of us were floored. Helps that it's beg of yr so some of it is review and then just one more layer of concept. She's one chapter behind in English reading the Crucible and is fascinated by that book. She prefers reading out loud so sometimes I just sit by her and listen and she uses me as a dictionary lol. The gov't teacher is being pretty lax about not requiring everything to be made up and it seems to be mostly a discussion class. It's really just bio that she was most behind and stressed about. DD16 is gonna be so jealous that teen dropped it.

What's the best way to search the parent thread for my posts about bonus teen? I'm beefing up my documentation in preparation for social services visit. I've tried searching on 'bonus teen' and only get 2 pages of posts with general teen. I've tried searching for posts by azucena but it shows 2011 to 2023 for some reason and all of the posts would be 2024.

Leave a set every day at place of choice? Make necklaces? Decorate jackets? Get a styrofoam cone, paint it green then stab the earrings in like tree decorations. It was something I picked up to do with pins and brooches but should work just as well with earrings. Especially 4 lbs of them!

In added news for Hera, she has a UTI and hyperthyroidism. Oh yay. As if chasing her for 5 minutes this morning to drop ear drops in her ears wasn't enough fun, I now get to shove pills down her throat. At least the damage to me this morning was pretty minimal. We'll see what tonight's looks like. And on that note, off to medicate I go.

I had my dental cleaning today. I have a food trap between two teeth with crowns. So they are going to replace the older of the 2. Submitting to insurance, will see how much they cover. He had me make appt 6 weeks out, said If I waited, there wouldn’t be any appointments left-due to the year end scheduling rush.
Meeting DH at my in-laws. I borrowed FIL’s car while new tires were put on my car. They are open till 7. Hopefully DH will shut down his office at 5:30 pm.
Chiver-Sorry about your job. I hope you can find something suitable close to home. I know you love where you live.

Plumber got here at 3 and just left at 5:30 so supper will be a bit late as I am overheated after being outside for 2 hours in 95 degrees. Damage was $800, he did an awesome job. DH has a serious case of dumb going today and I'm not in the mood. Some of you may remember the bike episode, where he decided he didn't want the $1K bike less than a year after buying it so it was given away. Now he wants to replace the hose and hose box he just had to have 6 months ago for $200 while trying to cheapskate today's repairs. Oh, hell no, that's not happening. And he had the incredible stupidity to expect me to try to sell the damn hose box and hose online. Yeah, like I'm going to spend hours online and in-person trying to get $60 for it while getting stiffed by most potential buyers and having to stay home for many hours to meet up with sketchy folks.
