Chloe - flowers were worth it. Beautiful!
Legal aid folks seemed to have a good start on steps to handle credit. It was slightly easier for DH to clear up his credit mess because he could prove that he was underage when his dad used his credit for utilities and such. I don't think credit cards have been opened in teen's name. I'm not dismissing the issue, just trying to triage and need legal aid and all of our other helpers to focus on the medical issues at the moment. Second place is figuring out how to get her caught back up at school.
Teen's gf was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease last week and has also been missing a ton of school while they figure out her medical issues. GF is sort of grounded until she catches up with at least some of her schoolwork. This has thrown a wrinkle in her hoco proposal.

ah, fantastic. I have a 1:1 with my boss's boss, and an HR rep at 11:40 this morning. and yesterday we caught wind that a senior director "has chosen to leave the company, his last day was the day before". I'll update after the call. ETA: I pinged my boss to ask if there were any further updates on that other guy, or if there was any impending doom I should prepare for with the call later this morning. Teams was showing the .... that he was typing, and then he just called instead. apparently he has a call today as well, so neither of us really has an idea what's going on Hoping WFH still viable or at least not brought up

I’ve never had insurance including Medicare pay for an eyeglass exam
Went to first acrylic art class Monday. Instructor is very good. Previous art teachers oil and watercolor just sort of offered tips. This instructor helped me choose a flower photo with color contrast and good position. Then helped to crop and put in grids. Transferred grid to canvas, started drawing. Will completed drawing and prime canvas before next Monday
I bought an acrylic kit but didn’t have correct colors. Bought on Amazon $120 will be delivrrrd soon. Instructor is very precise looking at others who’ve worked with her previously. So this will be challenging but hoping I can do this and not give up I gave up trying to learn piano on a keyboard

nope, it wasn't brought up b/c there's some other reorganizations going on and my position is being eliminated. my last day will be 22Nov. they are posting new Quality jobs by EOB tomorrow, and I'm eligible for rehire. whatever, I'll look at the package details tomorrow. I'm shutting this laptop down for the day and going to play with my dogs now.

Housekeeping question: Does anyone know what the magic ratio of vinegar, Dawn and water is to clean kitchen appliances and etc.? TIA I think it's a 1 to 1 ratio of vinegar and dawn and then fill up your container with water. It's a lot of suds so I'd start with less and add more if needed. I use it in one of my kitchen scrubbers. I use a 1:1 ratio as well. It smells funny until it dries, but works well.

I was walking to a customer. His admin was supposed to get me the go ahead to bind more policies. She tells me dude got bit by a copperhead. Yikes! I'll stop harassing her about binding for a while. Hopefully he's OK. That has to suck!

quick update before I shut this down - boss said it's looking like 3 people out from most groups, not sure what "groups" he's referring to, but that it was a big number from the CMO management organization that covers QA/QC/project teams/a few other functions.
I took a quick look at the severance package estimator tool, it's looking like I'll get 21 weeks of pay and cobra until next April, too. oh, and if I don't take any more vacation time, I'll have almost 4 weeks of that to pay out as well.
what's gonna suck is that all that hits as a single payout, right? that's going to seriously fuck up my taxes next year. I'm sure I'll have a bunch of questions later, so please have patience with me. I'll start another thread, but if you've done this before, please come answer questions. TIA.

So sorry to hear about the layoff, chiver! But I'm glad that it isn't immediate, so it gives you time to process / apply for rehire if you want (do you still get the severance then?) / look for other jobs. Sending lots of virtual hugs!

I hate dealing with truckers. Particularly the broke ones. I had a conversation with a producer about the fact that one of his insureds isn't worth the hassle. Said producer really needs the revenue, so we're going to probably keep him though. FML.

And while we are griping about glasses, my pet peeve is Texas has a set up where prescriptions expire in 12 months, forcing you to get a new prescription every time you need or want to change frames. My prescription expired in late June so I had to get a new one to buy new frames in September. The state called it "a consumer health protection" saying it insured eye problems would be detected early. I call it "income health protection" for optometrists. It's not just Texas where eyeglass prescriptions expire after 12 months. They did in Colorado and they do in Iowa. Medicare has never paid anything toward a routine eye exam. At the present, they are being coded as medical and they are paying for that. They are being properly coded. There are some issues going on that are medical. Glasses were not covered and I knew that.

I didn't realize other states had that provision too. I was surprised a couple of years ago when I saw a vision exam in my schedule of benefits. There was a $35 copay which was a good deal, and they did a great thorough exam, but I just didn't want to wait 2-3 months to get in this time. Plus they use the dilating drops which means DH has to drive me while the independent optometrist uses a weird photo thing that doesn't require dilation. Seeing the back of my eyeballs on a computer screen is really strange but interesting. Years ago, when I was 30, the optometrist said I had the beginnings of macular degeneration and would likely be blind by 40. I'm 76 now and there's been no change. The good news is that my mild cataracts are no worse this year than last because I really don't want to have that surgery if I can possibly avoid it.

Catching up on some of the Sean "Diddy" Combs arrest. Over 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant found in his home?

Still processing the ridiculousness of the past couple of hours. Bio nut was 45 mins late to psychology appt for teen. She hadn't left her house yet when we arrived and teen texted her to confirm she was coming. Luckily doc still kept appt. I had called today and said that teen needed to be seen alone so nut couldn't take over appt. I reiterated that when we checked in. When nut arrived, doc came out and said mom or teen could come in first. Teen said mom go. Nut heads back, two seconds later, doc comes back out to reception to grab a box of tissues. Okay... 45 mins later, doc comes out and calls teen back. I've been keeping a chart of her episodes, meds, questions, doctors, etc that I printed for her to take in. Meanwhile nut marches up to admin and proceeds to make next appt says doc said 2-3 weeks so let's go for 3. What location? Oh, downtown well that pushes it out another week. What time? 10 sounds good bc sure, why not make us drive farther and have teen miss the most school possible. Oh and sure, I'll just continue to clear my work schedule for whenever suits you. Nut then disappears and I think oh great she left without telling teen bye and whew she left or ugh maybe she's waiting in the hallway with latest baby daddy. Teen comes out 30 mins later and nut slides back in so she must have been close by watching. Doc asks nut to sign off on release for her to talk to school. Also asks for release to talk to me. Nut actually says this ain't none of her business. Doc says it's best for everyone taking care of teen to be on the same page so think about it. I'd decided to wait to ask nut to fill out medical release for oral surgery when teen came back to waiting room to put nut on the spot and pressure her even though I hate to play that game. So I hand her paper and say teen needs you to sign this so children's hospital neurology can clear her for oral surgery by the end of the day or teen loses Friday appt which may have already been cancelled by their office for lack of response. Nut says I don't need to sign it because teen doesn't need surgery, she can just go back to main Medicaid dental place and they can pull it. Teen jumps in and says mom I've been there 3 times - once for consult and antibiotics, once to attempt to pull it, and once to attempt again with more senior dentist and they couldn't numb me enough. Nut says you haven't seen them, where was I? At which point I realize that she really wasn't aware of those appts bc she gave me medical proxy at the main Medicaid provider which happens to include dental, but I kept my mouth shut tight. Nut argued with teen and teen was like, mom I was in the chair screaming in pain both times and these teeth aren't coming out unless I'm put under. Nut says why do they need children's to sign anything. Teen says mom they need to know if my seizures are a problem with anesthesia. Teen also said I can't keep going to school in pain for this so just sign. Nut says okay and teen says sign here and nut says no, I'll take it and fax it. I said you can't just fax to number on form bc that's fax for oral surgeon not children's. She says have teen send me fax number. Teen says you don't even have a fax, just let Azucena do it. She got mad and said no. In the elevator she asks if teen is going back to school. Teen fibs and says yes. She'd only get back with less than an hour left and then it takes almost 30 mins to get back out of parking lot mess. Teen has been pushing for online school which I was 50/50 on because she's so social. Psych said not great bc it's too isolating and teen needs to train her brain to overcome episodes as much as possible. Seems like some psychologists are also therapists but not this one. Good thing I left her new therapist new patient appt ride for Sat. Realized that I haven't done any of paperwork for it yet or thought thru how to get nut's consent. Ugh! I'm on the fence of if I should follow through on hotlining some/all of this as medical neglect. I'd have to go on record as the caller and then I feel like I risk what little bit nut is working with us. I'm too nice, right? What say you?Gleefully going to send $750 first ambulance bill to nut. It came in teen's name to my address but she's underage so it can't be her bill. Really they just need the insurance form filled out and Medicaid will pay bill. I'd hotline her daily.

I may have tried my first carbliss flavor that I don't like. Black cherry. I may have had some candy corn before it. Perhaps that was not the best idea. There's your problem right there. Candy corn is satan's earwax.

Holy hot flash. Thankfully I have no meetings the rest of the day. Had to take what my grandma called a "whore's bath", put on shorts and a tank, and may need another "bath". Definitely logging off at 3.

All this talk of eye doctors and prescriptions reminded me I hadn't made any appointment for this year yet. I called to get myself and both kids in and the earliest appointments are in January. Which means I wasted an entire year of vision insurance.

More on my dock saga: THE MOTHERF****ING PROJECT IS JUST ABOUT DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DH finished the firepit yesterday, we now have a propane burner with the pretty blue glass rocks in the pit. We picked out furniture this past weekend, we just have to wait for the bank balance to catch up to buy it. The contractor poured cement so we now have a walkway down to the water from the boat launch, and a place to put your butt and soak your feet in the water. Then he cleaned up all the construction debris, and removed the turbidity barrier that's been in the water since March. The dirt guy dropped off all but one load of dirt, and contractor spread it out. DH will put down grass seed just before we have rain forecast. The contractor just has to fix some electrical issue.

Medicare Advantage plans often cover routine eye exams. That's one of the so-called "advantages" they use to promote those plans and hope you don't understand the disadvantages.
Medicare Part B does not pay for routine eye exams.

chiver78, so sorry to hear about the layoff. Twenty-one weeks of severance and Cobra until April is a pretty good payout. How long have you been working for this company?
