I am going to clean my car out today. And I have to get a few things for us to eat at the grocer. Going to make spaghetti sauce for tonight.
I have gone all through the contract and can't see how long the sellers have to agree or disagree. I guess I have to email the agent, it should be in front of my face!
I have never seen my son so mad. His neighbor is encroaching on his property. He had a survey done to make sure he was meeting all the requirements about set backs and things if he builds a garage. He has found she is encroaching 9.5 feet on the back of his 2.5 acres and 5 foot on the rest of the side. So she has cut and sold his trees, built a fence lately 5 foot over. She had told him before she thought the property line was right down her driveway. Her lot is an acre or less. So he only asked her to move the fence. This is the same neighbor that the dog bit grandson and had terrorized the neighbors,so she was required to build the fence. She just bought the property in 2020.
So now she has informed him she is not moving the fence, that her septic drain field is on his property and about half of a building is on his property too and she isn't moving none of that. I'm sure some may be grandfathered but he said that is just too much. She is taking over quite a bit on his place. So he is going to the county first, code enforcement and such and has called a real estate attorney. I can't say I blame him as like he said if she doesn't care about any of that where does it end? Does she just keep taking more? Her back gate is even on his property.
This type of thing can be a real mess, she has spent a fortune on that house and told him she couldn't afford to fix any of that stuff, just wow. Property disputes are messy and awful so I hate to see him involved in that, but I can't see letting her do that either. So expect to hear more on that.
Ok, time for me to get busy.

Ok, time for me to get busy. oh, hell no. definitely keep us posted on how this all turns out, hopefully the RE attorney can get somewhere. depending on when the building and septic drain fields were put in, and permits (or lack thereof), he could absolutely force her to have to remedy the situation by either compensating him for the purchase of the land she encroached on OR removing the offending encroaching items. the fact that she's already been an asshole? I'd make her tear shit out/down.

I came inside when the landscapers got here, and was not loving the humidity when I tried to go back outside after they were done. so I caved and closed the windows/turned on the A/C. Punk is laying in front of a vent, snoring loudly. I'm thinking this is staying on through the small heat wave next week.

Countrygirl, didn’t your son need a survey when buying his property? Neighbor’s encroachment should have been in the survey. Son might also have a legal case against the RE agent he used

Have you seen Queen Charlotte yet? I'm avoiding it, because emotions. I've heard it is a tearjerker, which I expected. It is for sure, but such a good love story. Plus you get Lady Danbury's origin story and Brimsley's as well.

daisylu I also love it. DH, who appreciates shows with subtle, quick-witted dialogue, says the Charlotte series is his favorite of the Bridgerton series. We have not had time to watch the latter half of the current season though.

At least WA adverse possession law requires 10 years occupancy, and she only bought the property 4 years ago, so I don't think adverse possession is going to help her. The idea of buying un-surveyed property scares me to death - true pig in a poke there. Hard to understand how a lienholder wouldn't want a survey to protect their interests too

Pot of chili is now simmering. It’s a pain in the butt to make as I don’t use ground meat in it, but meat I need to chop myself. Mincing up about 3 lbs of meat takes time, and a sharp knife!
Started looking at places to stay in Ireland and it’s not looking good. Getting a hotel room in Dublin is going to be pushing $400/night. At least we won’t need to pick up the car until we leave Dublin for Waterford.

Looking is free so you have nothing to lose - no property is perfect. There's a lot to like on this one, at least from the photos.

Nice house, andi9899. Very nice. Love the kitchen and the openness. One thing I'm not crazy about is the 2 steps down into the living room, but otherswise it's a good one.

Andi if you look at it, make sure there's good drainage in front of that garage. One of those basement pics kinda looked like water damage.

Yeah someone else put the other stuff in, not her. But son has asked her nicely quite a few times to address the fence issue. He has documentation for his emails and her responses. He gave her 30 days to respond and she ignored him so he finally contacted her again. He has really developed his skills over the years in dealing with conflicts and is very nice and has been. He told her if she doesn't fix this he will be getting an attorney and include the dog biting issue with it, that just happened last year. There is a police report too.
This will cost him, but I agree he can't just let this go on. He is really mad about the trees they were big ones.
And no they did not ask for a survey?? But you know we don't generally get one either. He looked at the plat and could tell his house was in the middle so wasn't concerned until he decided to build. This stuff happens all over.

well, folks W HAVE BOUGHT the house, got it for $295,000. I worried about being able to resell it, but the realtor said that is a very desirable community, I can see why, and we wouldn't have a problem. But lot of money. Hubs has mixed feelings, he doesn't like the weather here, but I don't know what to say.
But he agrees we have to do something for DD, and we are to old to keep maintaining property and things, so its kind of what we need to do. I sure don't want to live out in the country but not crazy about living this close to people either. As son said, well if you hate it too much, sell it later and move.
He did say all we do with the 4 acres is work on it. Work mowing, work on landscaping and more work and don't do anything else with it.

We were reminiscing about some of the dumps we have bought. One where the closet ceiling and bathroom had fallen in. The bottom of the doors rotted off. Had to replace all the glass in the windows. We only paid $21k for it. But turned it into a nice place, we have done a lot of those. And this place is NICE. But it has an electric stove and I hate them.
The only negative is no AC, we can't change that till we sell a couple of places as ready cash will be very tight till then.
But its kind of fun, I think we enjoy moving, LOL! And hubs will finish out things for me to make it really nice. Ceiling fans will be one addition I think. Our bedroom has cute corner windows. Kitchen is kind of circular so very pretty with lots of cabinets.
Looking forward to it.
Off to the grocer.

This afternoon's research down me down the path of an adoption in 1906. The family has determined the father who adopted the child in 1906 was the bio dad. The woman may or may not have told me at the time of the pregnancy because the son spent 4 years in an orphanage.
The woman who signed the original paperwork was married at the time and had 3 children in the home. Another was born after this one. But she gave this one son up for adoption?
I may have to message the family member who found all of this information.

I have managed to clear some room in my yarn tote stash that I can put some yarn inside the totes.
Instead of piled up in bags outside of the totes.
I told myself when i got rid of some bags, I could go to the thrift sale and be careful.
I might actually be able to go to the sale coming up.

I mentioned in the dinner thread, I've got a NJ friend coming in tonight for some Cape League baseball this weekend. he was supposed to land last night, but current ETA is 1230am tonight. whatever, I'm here. I told him, though - if he wanted a house key for the weekend (usual fare for his photographer trips) that he was gonna have to cart my ass to the grocery store lol.... anyway, I've got one more trip down to move the last load of laundry to the dryer, and I still need to make up both beds with clean bedding. I'm avoiding doing up my own bed in the hopes that being vertical will keep me awake to watch the Celtics game.

Abi eat installation is done. The ones to left of dishwasher were original. We added 2 double plus one single on both bottom and top. We lost the double cabinet movable island. So way more cabinet space. The sink was removed today. New countertops will be in next week so we will at least be functional. Then we will work on wallpaper removal and do backsplash, paint and hood.

My husband was never like this before. He has been looking at the pictures. And he said well this is a house you can be proud of. He used to never say things like that, but he always fixed our homes up to make them nice. We just bought real fixer uppers that were sound but awful. The last house is the first nice one we moved into and didn't need to remodel everything and now this one we will buy. I think he wants something to be proud of too.
And we talked about one that needed fixing but most of them were $400k and that's just crazy. So this is likely a good choice for us at this time in our life.
And its big enough for what we want.
