DD made raspberry sorbet using honey. She really liked the taste. My weight loss was still intact this morning, but after a ham dinner & sides, I think the scale will be up tomorrow, but then, I sort of expected it. I'm still doing my steps tonight.

Just started reading The Obesity Code by Dr Jason Fung. I'm only a chapter or so in but I had to force myself to put it down to go to bed last night. So far, it's discussing the correlation between the dramatic change in the U.S. Food Guide in 1977 and the resulting distinct increase in obesity in America. How "Eat Less, Move More" doesn't stick in terms of results. How reducing calories in the short term ALWAYS results in a regaining of the weight that was lost and usually in the form of fat. Very interesting read. I'm looking forward to continuing it this evening. That book led me to Keto and fasting. Not only am I successfully losing weight, I have so many other health benefits. More energy, better skin, better sleep, no more sniffles...just to name a few. It has been life changing for me, and I don't say that about very many things. When I managed to do keto for six months, it was absolutely life changing regarding the more energy and better sleep. It's almost like the weight loss was just a bonus. Why I can't psychologically bring myself back around to it is quite annoying.

Cardio yesterday; yoga today. No binging, but definitely having a holiday meal plan
I must start tracking. Must. start. tracking. I need to care about myself more.

Why I can't psychologically bring myself back around to it is quite annoying. What was the trigger to start back in the day? It was a convergence of events: I hit a weight that I'd never seen before--even during pregnancy. I had heartburn all the time. It was a combination of the weight increase and the poor eating choices. None of my clothes fit. I either had to buy new clothes or figure out how to lose weight. I chose to spend money on a meal plan instead of buying new clothes. Last, my youngest child went to college. I have enough disordered eating that I couldn't change my eating habit in front of my own children; it was somehow embarrassing. I cannot quite explain that. Because she, nor any of the other three, was not in the house on a daily basis, it was somehow easier for me to commit to the meal plan/coaching program I'd joined. I stopped participating a few months into the pandemic. The pandemic was so stressful due to how it affected my job that I just reverted to emotional eating.

Are any of those true again i.e. converging again?

Carbs are not my friend. I fell back asleep this morning and ISO had to wake me up at 10:45. That hasn't happened in a year. My face is all puffy and I'm up 3 lbs. I know it's just water after just one day but I still don't like it. The menu today makes it easy for me to stick to Keto, thank goodness.

Last weekly check-in.
Year started off good. Plans were detoured when I broke my arm. Oh well. On the plus side I did not gain weight.
Not sure what my goals will be for next year.
Did okay will all my goals last week except getting to bed.
Think I will keep same goals for this week.
Have a great week everyone.

I did hit 20,000 steps last Monday - Thursday, and was a sloth Friday - Sunday. Up 2 lbs this morning, but that was not unexpected. Did not fast at all over the holiday, but back it at today. Struggling with it this morning, but I am determined to make it at least 14 hours.

Are any of those true again i.e. converging again? Close, but not quite. My weight has gone back up, but not to the peak of late 2019. Some of my clothes do not currently fit. The stress of the pandemic on my job is still daunting. Solving the emotional eating has proven difficult. I do think I'm coming out of the funk that I was in from late summer through the beginning of December.

I did make it to my 14 hour mark. Just finished lunch, which may end up being my only meal today. I am determined to make to 16 hours tomorrow.

Well, I knew the scale was going to move in the wrong direction, and today it did. I'm up 3 pounds. But, I'm convinced I'll take 'em back off again. I did a good job on avoiding a lot of my favorite Christmas sweets, (no cookies), but I did have some pie, and I ate more carbs than normal. So, back to work...

I may not be doing so great on the eating front this month, but I’m crushing it exercise wise. It’s been a slow month at work, plus I’ve been off for the last 5 days, so I’m pleased with my effort in that area. Hoping to keep up some of the momentum into the new year!

I’ve been taken advantage of the warmer than normal weather, and M wanting to use her new scooter, so have gone on walks outside the last few days. It’s supposed to get cold tomorrow; so hopefully we still get out, or I figure out something else to do at home since I’m at least currently motivated to be active.

Last night I had a half pint of this for dinner. At least the proceeds go to charity? No regrets.

Two weeks into IF and my consumption of peanut butter cups has dropped to four (on the same day last week), my soda consumption is nil, and my ice cream consumption is one or two in 14 days.
I can't say that my sleep has improved because I get up once a night to go to the restroom but I'm working on figuring out the best time to drink my last glass of water (it's my nightly vitamin routine) but I am getting to bed sooner and getting more hours of rest before I get up in the morning so there's that.
My skin is clearer.
No weight loss yet but I imagine my body is working on its insulin resistance issue so I will keep on keeping on.

2021 Goals Weight Lose 17 pounds by the end of March Keep that weight off through the end of the year
Exercise Cardio 3x/week Strength training 3x/week Yoga 1x/week
Inches Currently narrowest part of waist: 30" At belly button: 32.5" Goal: track this through end of March; set goal after that based on flabbiness.
Calories 1500> per day | 9,800> per week 100> carbs per day | 735> per week
Water 70oz< per day | 500oz < day Welp, this completely went by the wayside in July. I'm not sure I even ever measured my waist again. Through July, I really was doing strength training at least twice a week and was in decent shape.

I actually have no recollection of posting this. I'm not even sure where I would have created this image. So, it looks like I was serious about food consumption for January and lost control in February.

Looks like I did okay in March but then didn't post at all in April.
(Sorry for having whole bunch of posts this morning. I'm trying to set myself up for success in 2022 and reflecting on 2021 to do that.)

In trying to recenter myself this month, I did make a conscious effort to get more steps in. I only have my iPhone—no Apple watch nor FitBit. I’d noticed this trend on the Health App, so I did make sure to physically move more this month. So, no posting in April, May, or until mid-June. This step count post though was a catalyst for improving. My daily average for 2021 is 4,558 now and is higher than the 2020 average of 4,162.

Pictures are supposed to be motivational, right? Here’s one from this weekend of my granddaughter and I making pecan pie. I’ll use this to compare at every five or so pounds lost. No pounds lost yet to compare.

Well, thanks for going on that reflective journey with me.
Here are thoughts I'm considering for 2022 --Adding to my daily to do list checking in on the 2022 healthy lifestyle discussion --making weekly goals for calorie intake --not setting a "lose this many pounds by ___" goal because I just give up way too easily --specific goals for the after work - bedtime food consumption --average step goals with the iPhone tracker --returning to monthly tracking (which it looks like I gave up in April) --no clothes purchases until back under 140 pounds (this goal serves two purposes as we are moving this summer and I don't need to move more stuff than I currently have.) --re-starting strength training

Adding to what else I've altered since beginning IF...
I add 1/2 teaspoon of salt to my lemon juice and water in the morning. I added an extra 8 oz to further dilute the salt taste. This helps with the electrolytes.
A few days ago, I started drinking 2 tablespoons worth of vinegar at night, mixed in with three or four cups of water when I take my night time vitamins. Since I go to sleep around 10 or 11, I've found that drinking my water before 7:30pm helps reduce how many times I get up at night.
And I'm still ensuring that I'm not in any calorie deficit by logging those on myplate.com. I consume between 1600-2000/day.

Well, I got the ultimate compliment. I've got a family member who I've always admired. She was a phy ed teacher, and I've always been impressed with how fit she is, and she's always looked younger than she actually is. I mentioned my weight loss in my Christmas card to her, and she wrote back that she was impressed with ME, because she'd put on 5 pounds during the pandemic. It's a shock when someone you've always admired actually likes something you've done. I'm gonna have to keep her letter for whenever I'm having a bad day. Oh, and to those of you just beginning your own weight loss, it took WEEKS before my scale budged in the beginning, so don't give up on yourself too early. It's a process.

It was 50* and drizzly today. I got in a 3.4 mile walk at the state park and will surpass 10,000 steps today. Had a wonky fast/refeed day today...I think because I was getting pummeled from the inside due to the ovaries releasing an egg into the abyss that is my lower abdomen. Ovulation cramps are almost as bad as period cramps. Meeting up with my trainer tomorrow so she can kick my ass and legs with weights again. A week ago, I worked out Thursday evening and felt it until Sunday evening.
