Made it to the park and got nearly 1.5 miles in. It was sprinkling/raining the whole time and I had the place almost completely to myself. Even saw a coyote.

I've actually surprised myself, and managed to hang onto most of my weight loss. I thought with my surgery, and not being able to exercise as much, I'd surely gain back about 5-10 pounds, but I've only regained one pound! In spite of not getting back up to 10,000 steps each day (I'm averaging closer to 6,000-7,000), I'm still at minus 25 pounds.

Let me know, laterbloomer, if you see progress with the arm workout. That, and my stomach, are the next 2 areas I need to focus more time on. Congratulations!

My boss's wife gifted me a soy blend candle for helping her last week. Since it said "soy" I thought it would be okay for me. Boy, was I wrong. Got hit, big time, with a migraine on Wednesday (the day after burning the candle). Went to my functional doc yesterday to see if I needed to tweak any vitamins to rid my system of the poison. A little tweaking. My liver was showing it was working hard to rid my body of the crap.
The doc also gave me further incentive to reduce my pb cup intake. They and other chocolates have become a major food group the past few months and I need to make a determined effort to just eat real food. It's the vicious loop of sugar intake: you crave it so you eat some but then you crave more so you eat more. I do, anyway.
Anyhoo, that's my focus right now: eating more real food.

So glad I was able to find this thread again!! I'm hoping the support and accountability help me stick with it. I seem to get all excited and gung-ho, then after 3-4 weeks I fall back into old habits. I'll work on some realistic and achievable goals, then dive in.
ETA: Wt: 212.5 First goal: down 10 lbs by end of the year Stretch goal: down 15 lbs by end of the year
80oz water every day Walk 15 min, 4 days/week
I also have an appointment with a nutritionist tomorrow. Hoping to get some insight on the best way to go about this journey. I'm curious to know if I should be doing anything in particular to help my progress, and if any of the things I am doing are holding me back.
Thanks in advance for the support everyone.

Hi Kids! I finally hit 10,000 steps on Thursday, for the first time since my surgery. And, I got a reward for it. I'm now down 27 pounds. I'd really love to be at minus 30 by Christmas, but we'll see how it goes... Welcome Minnesotagirl7!

Well, carp!! I did over 13,000 steps yesterday, and apparently my Fitbit zip couldn't believe it, had a heart attack & died. Any suggestions on a step counter, for those of us who aren't very tech savvy?

Ooh! I’ll join the lose ___ by Christmas/NYE goal. I’d like to say 20lbs, but that seems unattainable. I think I’ll set it at 10lbs.
I also vow to check in here in an almost daily basis. I really need to hold myself accountable.

Best part is I don't have to charge the battery and it lasts for a year.

I have a weigh-in at work on Tuesday. I'd like to lose 10 by the next weigh-in following the holidays. It's gonna be hard, and I'm not sure I can do it that quickly, but I gotta start doing something again.

Weekly check in
Hit step goal. Made it to parking lot on time every morning. This week's goal - make it to my desk everyday. Really need to work on not hitting the snooze button and drink more water. Only one night of eating after 9:00 PM.
This week's goals: 1. 45000 steps 2. No eating after 9:00 3. Drink at least 16 ounces of water. 4. Get to work on time. 5. No snoozing of alarm.
Have a great week everyone.

It’s super cold here for this area—a lowly 36°F. My weigh-in this morning is 150.2. That’s a high for the last two years. In November 2019 I was pushing 160. I went on a 1000-calorie per day , low-carb diet and lost 25 pounds in two months. I maintained that while I transitioned back to a normal 1500-1700 calorie per day routine. Then the pandemic hit, and I by August resumed emotional eating and am back here. So, I’m on a quest to find a “new normal” that is a lifestyle change not “just” a short term diet. My goals for this week are to —track food intake —no desserts from Monday - Thursday —cardio 2x this week I’d like to stay under 1800 calories and 100 net carbs each day. However, for this week, that’s an aspiration as opposed to a goal. I need this to be cognizant, long term change.

You can do it, Knee Deep in Water Chloe! And ners, I find that I do better if I don't eat after a certain time every day, too. In fact, if I eat dinner early, the scale is also kinder to me. Some people say that it doesn't matter what time of the day you eat, but my body disagrees. My goal by Christmas is to have lost 30 pounds since January, but with Thanksgiving almost here, I'm not sure how realistic that is. But, it doesn't mean I'm not going to try...

The past couple weeks, I've been able to complete some sort of activity on my days off. Last weekend, I had one day where I didn't so I put $5 in the "motivation box" in my coworker's office. Yesterday, I was back to nearly my normal walking pace of the three-mile loop at the state park but I ended up with repercussions today. A migraine this morning and that extreme tiredness that comes with a good workout AND during ovulation time. I couldn't get out of bed. I'm still exhausted. lol.
BUT I am eating fewer peanut butter cups nowadays. And less ice cream. I replaced them with smoothies: fruit, raw potato, almond milk, kale, and an egg or two.

Not fantastic today, but at least I was cognizant of my consumption. Monday 1,921 calories 136 carbs
My downfall was dark Lindt truffle balls.

My downfall was dark Lindt truffle balls. When I'm tempted by something I REALLY like, I save it for breakfast the next day. I may not be in the mood by then, but if I still want it, I've got all day to burn off those calories.

Almost one week in, weight is about the same. But I'm making changes, and that's the important thing. I'm drinking my water and going for a short walk each day. I'm also tracking everything I'm eating. My appointment with the nutritionist last week was alright. Not sure what I was expecting, but whatever it was she didn't quite blow me away. She did give me some goals, and I already have my next appointment set up with her for early December. Hope to have made some good progress by then. A while back I was trying to think of what really motivates me. I had a moment: debt paydown. I realized that if I tied extra debt payments to my mini weight loss goals, that would really push me. As with other things, it worked for a little while, then I started slacking off. Well I'm re-implementing that rule. If I don't hit my mini-goals, no extra payments. First up: by Tuesday 11/16, need to be down 3 lbs from my 11/3 weight. Feeling pretty good about hitting this and knocking some more off the mortgage! busymom, I love that trick!

Don't get discouraged, Minnesotagirl7. I hit my first plateau really early in my weight loss efforts. Sometimes, for me, it seems like the scale just sits still, even for weeks, then suddenly "boom", it moves steadily down. I think it's great you're working with a nutritionist!

I really need to join you all. I’m just having trouble trying to figure out where to start. I’ve been half-heartedly looking for workout plans for months now.
My next door neighbors have gym equipment in their garage. The wife said we can workout together, she doesn’t like working out with her husband because he pushes her too far. That would be perfect, but we still need a plan. So she’s supposed to be getting some info from him as far as that goes.
I’d though getting Newbie and having to walk her would get me moving, but then we discovered she’ll run all around the yard like a nut, without running off, so that became our lazy way of getting her some exercise.
I don’t really want to walk for exercise anyway. My feet hurt. Plus, I already average 17k steps on my work days. I don’t wanna walk anymore after I get off work.
I will have something figured out and start working whatever plan I come up with by this time next week.

The past couple months I’ve done a pretty good job sticking with my exercise. But my food choices could use some help. Too much white bread/pasta/rice, too many sweets, just too much in general. I don’t own a scale, so I don’t know if my weight has gone up, but regardless, I need to try to be at least a little better. And with the holidays coming, it’s likely this rededication to healthy eating is going to be tough. So I think I’m going to just stick with my exercise plan, and try to add in one extra healthy thing each day (like fruit instead of the after lunch cookie).

I did a good job tracking today and making healthy choices today. HOWEVER I still consumed 2,194 calories and 136 carbs.
I had a super healthy lunch of this: Power Bowl (vegan) Fresh baby arugula* topped with organic quinoa*, shredded red cabbage*, turmeric sunflower seeds*, hemp seeds*, red onion* & cilantro*. Served with house tangy tahini* dressing - 11 (add avocado - 1)
But when I add that to my tacos for dinner...sigh.

Made it to the Y this evening. 30 minutes on the recumbent bike and five minutes on the rower. That fish game will make that five minutes feel like 20.
