My goals for the year are 4,750,000 steps. Stop gaining weight and lose 10 pounds.
What are your goals for 2021?

I was wondering about a habit tracker thread in WIR, could this be it?
I want to focus on enough water, yoga/meditation, exercise, keeping up on paperwork (so not health related!) and maybe a few other things.
But again - feel like i'm floating right now, disconnected, not sure who I am anymore these days....

All the usual stuff--drink more water/less alcohol and caffeine. Eat more veggies and fruit (I eat pretty much no fruit now, besides tomatoes, I guess). Exercise more. Been doing none lately. I can just feel myself flabbing out. I would love to lose weight--at least 15 pounds. I think if I do the above, I will lose at least some.

Sometimes there are people tracking calories or types of food. It's really whatever "healthy lifestyle" means for you. Some people post weekly or monthly goals; others post sporadically.
Personally, I keep the paperwork stuff in the Declutter & Organization thread.

When I completely overhauled my diet in November 2019, the vegetables were a huge part of it. I switched to eating at least three cups of green vegetables each day. It's insane how much that actually is and how full it actually made me feel. But, combining that with reducing carbs, my constant heartburn went away.

Hello. I've located the group again and hope to be consistent. It's been a rough 2020 but 2021 is a new year so I'm going to stay positive. Goal is to not gain weight and lose 10-15 so my clothes actually fit. I joined a gym this past week and would like to get there 4-5 days a week. I'm aiming for 10,000 steps but I realize when it's not warm out, I just can't get motivated to walk. There's not a lot of walking when I'm at work. Happy New Year everyone!

Hi Kids! I've got to get back on track with losing weight. Hunkering down for Covid definitely hasn't made losing weight any easier, but I plan to do it. I'd like to lose at least 20 pounds, and I've bought a new scale, but instead of putting it in the bathroom, it's located in the kitchen as kind of a "in your face" reminder of what I need to do...

I'm on day 2 of keto. I need to be serious about losing weight, I keep getting bigger instead of smaller. I'm not sure exactly what weight I want, I'm guessing 150 lbs to be a size 10.
So right now I am detoxing from sugar and bread

2021 goals
1. 4,825,000 steps. That’s not significantly more than this year, so I’m hopeful I’ll hit it. 2. Move 6 days per week. Walk, spin class, run, strength, core, just something other than sitting on my couch all day will count. 2a. Be consistent with strength training. When COVID started and Inuit my gym I quit strength workouts. I need to be more consistent. 3. drink more water and less adult beverages.

Has anyone tried the Peloton app? According to the commercial I saw you don't need the actual machines. I have a spin bike and treadmill, just not the Peloton brand. If I can just put the app on my TV in my exercise room or phone/tablet, that would be cool. If you've tried it, do you like it? How is the class selection? I'm not going to be comfortable going back to my gym for a while. Classes always kept me motivated to go to the gym and I havethe equipment at home now.

The app will work on your phone but it does cost at least $300/year. There are tons of work outs though.

I'll try it and see what happens. I can always cancel it if I don't like it.

I'm struggling with goals - I know I need to lose weight, but for that, need to focus on eating better/being more active. And I hit a big milestone birthday this year, and in general am realizing that I'm starting to get aches and can tell the next day if I overdo something. Which all leads to needing to be more active/fitter/everything so I can live an active and healthy lifestyle and keep up with my kids. Sigh.
We have a gym at work that had great classes, pre-Covid. It's unfortunately still closed, I'm guess through the summer, and that was the easiest way for me to fit in a workout because it was at work. I definitely walked a ton more last year, so I need to keep that up. And maybe do some bodyweight stuff to help with strength? Anyone have something they do at home that they love? We don't have any weights, but I'm not opposed to getting some handheld weights, kettle balls, or medicine balls (or something like those), assuming they can be found now.
All of that to say, I'm feeling okay about the start to the new year. We got snow on New Year's Day, so we all went outside and DH and I shoveled while the kids played. While DH finished up, I pulled the kids around our yard on a sled, so was decently active (way more so than the past on that holiday). We also walked to the closest hill of any decent size, which is only a half mile, but played in the snow and climbed up and down the hill several times. And repeated the trip to the sledding hill again today, complete with pulling the kids part of the way on the sidewalks still covered in snow.

You can find gym equipment now. I got a weight set at Sam's. That's the only set with a rack I have been able to find. I also have a cart full of accessories in my Walmart cart. I also got a treadmill and spin bike at Academy that is in your neck of the woods. Now that the initial shortage has passed and gyms are open, you can find stuff to workout at home. Especially this time of year.

Look at Academy first. Way cheaper. And if you have a competitor's coupon, they'll honor it. FYI.

I need to lose 20 lbs. I signed up for Noom a couple of months ago and lost 9 lbs but that went to hell over the last couple of weeks . I'm still 5lbs down from where I started but still a ways to go. I've always been slim but at 47 my metabolism is slowing down and my gynecologist said it's going to be a battle from now on so really need to pay attention. It's easy to put on 5 lbs but very hard to lose it again. If I can lose 1lb per week I'll be at my goal weight by 5/24/21 - swimsuit season . 1/4/21 140.0
I'm hoping checking-in here and posting the gains or losses will keep me motivated.

Going to post to try to keep my motivation up - played outside in the remnants of snow with the kids for 45 minutes after work (not super active, but I wasn’t sitting down reading/playing board games/whatever), and walked for 30 minutes on the treadmill right before the kids went to bed.

Day 5 of keto. I fasted for 24 hours with ISO. I made a really good chicken soup yesterday that I can't wait to have for lunch.

Hi there. I'll join in as this is one area I consistently let go by the wayside. I lost a total of 11.4 pounds in 2020, and would like to double that amount this year. ~Stick with low carb/low sodium
~Focus on vegetable and berry intake ~Exercise, hand weights, yoga, stretching 4+ times a week

Day 1: Succumbed to emotional fast food eating last night, and, after looking up the sodium content, am glad I do so very rarely. No veggie/berry intake at all yesterday. No bueno. Up at a decent hour this morning, and did floor exercises after an early phone appointment. Need to remember to do crunches while down there. Have a fantastic day, everyone.

So I've done a week of keto and I lost 4 lbs!!! Yay me. ISO also likes to fast on Monday's, Wednesdays and Fridays. I have only made it 24 hours so far. Part of how I'm motivating myself is to plan really tasty meals on the days I eat. So today I'm making chicken breasts with mustard sauce.
I'm on vacation this week. The trick is going to be to stay motivated at work.
