A paloma (sp) would be ok, right? Because grapefruit is a morning fruit.... My DH makes his with Squirt soda 🤷♀️

Based on the recommendation of Cookies Galore I'm trying a Hemingway daiquiri. I like it a lot. I did add a little simple syrup because I thought my recipe was a little too tart. It calls for white rum. I used what I had, a very nice Nicaraguan golden rum but I'm wondering if it would hold up to a dark (Meyers) rum.

I found my favorite prosecco in a 3pk of individual bottles earlier this week. I've never seen that before, for this label! I love that idea, b/c I don't always have someone to help me drain a whole bottle in one sitting. and nothing's worse than flat bubbly after sitting open a few days. anyway, after spending close to two hours walking through a 150+ page batch record plus attachments, line by line with the team who will be taking over this role (should have been 6mo ago....) and whose first language isn't English, I cracked one of those little bottles open with my breakfast sandwich. definitely adjusted the attitude for the better.

I've been drinking Smirnoff with club soda and a splash of diet cranberry juice lately, mostly to use up the juice, LOL. Had a few lime White Claws at a neighbor's for happy hour last night and forgotten how much I like those. So refreshing in 90+ degree weather. Am thinking I should ask DH to pick up ingredients for his homemade margaritas over the weekend... Those, too, are marvelous in this heat. Happy weekend, everyone!

Hard ciders are the drink of choice here right now. After I finish off the bottle of tequila. Because....I need to make room in the liquor shelf 😎

I'm debating if I want to crack open a seltzer or if I want to just pour a peach vodka soda. seltzers were the tone for moving weekend, part of my counter is full of empties...really hoping the trash company brings me new barrels tomorrow.

first day back to work, out on the deck (wifi doesn't reach the fire pit area, boo...will have to fix that) in the shade of the house. I've been nursing a couple cans of Barefoot peach/nectarine wine-based seltzer over ice. light and refreshing

So I braved the smoke for a trip to the liquor store this morning. I hope the guy working there knows what he's talking about because I followed his recommendations on some things. I couldn't find the white rum I was looking for so he suggested something (reasonably priced). And told me that this one gin was the same recipe as the Aviation, but cheaper. Also finally bought the creme de violet.
So I'm all set for cocktail experiments while stuck inside during this awful air. We've had Mai Tai for the last 4 nights, time to move on to something else. Aviation cocktail tonight. And a side by side tasting of my new gin vs. Tanqueray.
I'm really glad I spent a couple hours out on the patio Monday at 85 degrees, sunshine, clear air and a couple of Aperol Spritz before everything went to hell.

What color are your Aviations? The on line pictures are always this lovely violet color. The one I had a bar was barely gray. The one I just made is somewhere between periwinkle and a stormy blue sky. ETA: Can I have your recipe?

I'd say mine are light purple. 2 oz London dry gin 1/4 oz creme de violette 1/2 oz Maraschino liqueur 3/4 oz lemon juice

The rum recommended by the liquor store is quite nice for a $20 "silver" rum. Pretty smooth and slightly sweet. I just made a very nice Hemingway daiquiri.

Maybe I'll take up day drinking. Something kinda light. How about that White Claw stuff that people keep mentioning?
It has to be day drinking because otherwise I'd spend the night jumping up and down like a jack in a box between the bed and the bathroom.

Scored some very hard to get bourbon at a strange place, our local grocery store. Blantons has been almost non-existent on liquor store shelves, with bottles going for as much as $245, if you can even find it.
I went to our local grocery store, and a bottle just happened to catch my eye (I can’t be the only one who goes down the liquor isle “just to look”). Magically, they had 5 bottles on the shelf at $60/ea, I took home 3 of them. Now I should drink them because I can, but might sell just one to recoup my costs...

It's 3 pm, and my DH is pouring himself a drink, and I'm giving him crap about it. (99% of the time, I grab one first) I'm dinging my halo over here. 👼 He says, " I can tell the days you don't work." I told him that working is bad for my health, and I need to stop.
I'm so YM...not!

Lizard Queen, I wish you'd refer to your DH as Lizard King. It's such a cool name. You're drinking at 3 in the afternoon and didn't invite me? Hmph. See if I invite you over for pumpkin spice mac & cheese. Or pumpkin hummus. Nope. I'm gonna have to shun you. Sorry.

He doesn't really resemble Jim Morrison, but I guess I still could call him that, but you're shunning me, so does it matter? I mean, I didn't want the pumpkin anything anyway, but I still wanted to be invited! 😫

Okay. You can be unshunned. Feel better now? He does know that Lizard King dates him, right? Actually Lizard Queen dates you, too. Geez, were either of you even around yet back then? I mean, in my imagination, y'all are maybe early 40s.

I second Lizard King. 👍
I came home with the pups, intending to start cleaning. I am missing some important cleaning supplies and don't want to deal with Walmart today to get them. and then, AND THEN, my most recent book purchase arrived today. so, we are enjoying being outside while I start my book, and I poured a big shaker of Cosmopolitans. Happy Friday!

I would mix a pitcher of cocktails but I'm not sure cocktails and cake decorating are a great combo. But if DH doesn't hurry up and get off the phone I might.

I'll be joining y'all in about 45 minutes. And counting. I'm stepping inside the liquor store for the first time in over a month (we stocked up last month) and am thinking about making these Whiskey Sidecar Recipe. Sans the sugared rim. Happy weekend, everyone.
