One of the things I enjoy about my job is today we have happy hour at 3:30pm. We will get together on teams and all have a drink together while talking about anything we want. Always a good time...

I'm continuing my exploration of classic cocktails. Last week a gimlet. Meh, I didn't like gin and lime unless tonic is involved
This week a classic (not fruity) daiquiri. Rum, lime simple syrup. This is nice . I used a high end Nicaraguan aged 7 year golden rum. Next week I'm on to Manhattan. I may work my way up to martinis, but not expecting to like that much.
Yah! Good for you going on a classics journey! After the week I had (flooded basement from Isaias) I am feeling a Manhattan tonight.

I made lemon drops with blue curacao instead of triple sec. They are an electric blue/green color. I need a name for this drink. How about the Turq, short for turquoise? Or the Double E, short for electric eel? (That might be the EEer in me coming out. )

We made some simple watermelon cocktails earlier this afternoon (2 oz watermelon juice, 1 oz lime juice, 2 oz vodka or tequila). Hubsie had his with vodka and I had mine with tequila. Both were delightful and refreshing.

I picked up a big iced passion tango tea at Starbucks while we were out earlier, and have poured a little Stoli razz into it now that we are home. it is pretty tasty.

My 3rd attempt at a New York sour came out looking amazing. Not my picture, but just like this: Very interesting taste, a red wine float on a whiskey sour made with egg white. Sounds odd, but really works.

Today, I am working on perfecting lemon drops.😁 Since I got most of my household chores out of the way yesterday, and I’ve already been to the grocery store today, I’m working on my first one. I used The Walk of the Penguin Mich’s simple recipe and I like, I like. And since the bottles of simple syrup are so small, I googled to see if I could make it myself, and found that it’s ridiculously easy.

The only thing that might help is if you use fresh Meyer lemon juice instead of regular lemons.

We had lunch at our local wine shop. We realized we had 2 open bottles of Savignon Blanc at home and 2 others unopened. Since the wine shop can no longer do their weekly tastings, we decided to institute our own at home. Sometime this week, the theme will be Savinon Blanc, tasting various wineries side by side. Next week perhaps Pinot Gris. We should have no problem drinking the 3 or 4 open bottles of wine during the week.

Speaking of wine, my dad joined some sort of winery wine club. Part of the package is 96 bottles of wine given throughout the year. He told me to be prepared to bring wine home after my next visit. Good thing I pack light.

We did the wine tasting today. It just reinforced that I like New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc much more than from France. Most US ones are now being made in a New Zealand style. And later, just for fun I tasted some orange liqueurs side by side, Triple Sec, Curacao and Grand Marnier. I wanted to check out the difference when they are called for in cocktails.

Hmmmm.....my drink of choice from Starbucks is black iced tea lemonade, half sweet. I never thought about dumping a shot of Absolute citron into it..... Oh, my! This is my reward for getting through PT, and 8 leav3 for PT in an hour or so. I’m gonna have to try it!

do it up! we started with the razz in passion tea when I was buying the aseptic filled cartons of Tazo concentrate awhile back. I'd mix up a big pitcher of the iced tea, and we would pack it for the boat all day. ETA: today's errands run brought me to a Target, with a Starbucks inside. the Home Depot next door had a shitty selection of laundry detergent, so I had to cross the parking lot. you know I picked up a trenta iced passion tango...

I'm watching too many bar tending videos. Now I think I need a bar spoon, 2 kinds of jiggers, a cocktail mixing glass, some trays to make oversize ice cubes and some "coupe" glasses! I really wish I was comfortable going to the bars because there are some drinks I want to try, but don't want to invest in all of the ingredients until know if I like them. Like an Aviation. Get yourself creme de violette and Maraschino liqueur! I make aviations often, they are one of my absolute favorite cocktails. Plus, once you have Maraschino you can make Hemingway daiquiris. :-) I love gimlets. If you like a classic daiquiri then you'll enjoy a gimlet. Lovely summer sippers. I have these Nick and Nora glasses for classic cocktails (well, I bought a two pack, not a giant set of 12): www.riedel.com/en/shop/drink-specific-glassware-on-premise/nick-nora-041701205 Cookies Galore What gin do you use for these? I had one at a bar with Aviation gin and it was very different from at home with Tanqueray. I really liked the Aviation gin, less juniper.

Beefeater is my go to gin, and I will buy Plymouth when it's on sale.

And who put an empty bottle back onto the shelf? (Probably me). Grey Goose works too.

Flyers are on at 3, I have my friend's YouTube TV account, and it's Friday. Time to treat myself to a last half hour of work beer. Margarita gose.

My DH bought a giant box of Truly's that I didn't really care for at first, but they've grown on me.

Speaking of Truly, I concluded they give me heartburn. It must be the citric acid.

I'm not drinking today. I had a couple of cocktails yesterday, one was pretty strong and I ended up with a migraine last night. I think gin is not my friend. I do better with whiskey or vodka.

I stopped working a little early today (shh don’t tell on me!) and had a couple cocktails at the pool. Apple vodka and Sprite Zero. My DH thought he was buying regular vodka but came home with apple. Not terrible, pretty refreshing, and I can’t justify throwing it out, LOL.

I'm not quite sure what I'm drinking. Working on a variation of the Aviation cocktail. I still don't have the creme de violet and the Tanqueray gin had too much juniper. So today I have lemon juice, vodka, and Luxardo (maraschino) liqueur. It wasn't sweet enough and I was out of simple syrup. So I used a little of the vanilla syrup that is usually for espresso. It actually came out pretty good. ETA: It also has a little bit of a kick, I've a little buzz right now.
