I have a large pantry, a cleaning closet that also holds paper goods & 2 freezers besides the one in the fridge. We have plenty to last us a month or more except for fresh items. We will be going to the next town for our Dr. appts. & can pick up anything needed during those outings. If necessary, I can make a trip to another nearby town to Sam's to pick up bulk items needs like cat food.

The media is the worst of the bunch.....more political than anything else. Just compare how many dies from the flue in the US each year compare to the this virus for the whole world so far. Since when is washing your hands and covering your mouth not common sense people have to be told to do it. Propaganda bullcrap is all it is The airlines are offering some great fares right now. Since this is such “ propaganda bullcrap”, why not take a trip to Kirkland WA for a few days? Stay in a motel, eat out: they have some nice restaurants, go shopping..... I didn't say there wasn't cause for concern.....but the media is blowing this way out of proportion...BTW if I want or need to travel this virus will not stop me...

Well, then go for it, listen to trump. Don't let reasonable people stop you.
By the way I'm sick. Cold? Sore throat, nose running, some coughing, no fever... yet. Will see. I'm concerned to not go to the store and possibly infect anyone. Will others be so careful?

I'm concerned to not go to the store and possibly infect anyone. Will others be so careful? I had the flu (legit, verified by a doctor) about a month ago. I went down for over a week & then didn't leave the house for 2 weeks. I've only been to the grocery store since then. I've warned the cashier & the bag boys every single time that I have had the flu & to sanitize their hands & the keypad when they are done with me. I have made sure to not randomly touch things & put them back on the shelves. If I touch it, I buy it. If I've driven kiddo's car or mine, I've lysol wiped down everything I've touched before getting out. It was just the regular flu, but it was BAD & I don't want to pass it on to anyone. Luckily, no one else in my house came down with it.
On the up side of it all, I was so sick & slept so much that I managed to sick sleep my way thru nicotine withdrawls. As of yesterday, I'm at 1 month without a cigarette. And I never set out to stop smoking, it just happened. I quit cold turkey & haven't had any of the bitchy, stuff my face, kill for a cigarette withdrawls at all.

Stopped by Kroger mid-afternoon for some non-coronavirus quarantine prepping shopping. What I noticed was toilet paper and Lysol cleaner and deodorizer spray flying out the store doors. That must have been quite a site. Did they have wings or were people just throwing them through the doors.

I watched the news on cnn the other day and they mentioned 5 times in 30 wash your hands....when the hell did that become a new thing. There is always something coming out. The stock market that was the news bullcrap. what people are doing won't travel, stock pilling. The CDC advises people in high risk groups stay home. Are you saying people should ignore the CDC? When in fact you are more likely to die from the flu.False . I’ve been immunized from the flu, so am not likely to get it. Even if I got it, it would probably be mild since I’ve had the flu shot. The mortality rate for flu is .1 The mortality rate for COVID19 is 3.4 It is highly contagious and there is no vaccine and no cure they mentioned 5 times in 30 wash your hands....when the hell did that become a new thing.
Maybe since there is a new, highly contagious, deadly virus for which there is no vaccine? The stock market that was the news bullcrap. I’m not even sure what that sentence is supposed to mean. The stock market always reacts to news, good and bad. All of the indicators point to the virus causing all kinds of economic fallout: the travel industry is already hit and that has a ripple effect. The supply chain is already disrupted and is likely to get worse. So, of course, the market is down (and likely to go further down before this is over) But, carry on keeping your head in the sand, because things are going to get much worse before they get better.

I have sneezing, a runny nose and sore throat though not severe. I have no coughing and no fever. But when I get sick I get bronchial induced asthma at times and do not get enough oxygen. Right now I'm trying to decide, do I go to the minor clinic? The regular O2 sensor says They can give me a shot to help with breathing and generally do antibiotics to protect me from getting other illnesses. I don't want to go in with a mask on and gloves, though I don't want to be contagious to people. I figure if I do I will scare people to death. And I don't want to expose ME to perhaps something worse. I do have my inhaler but I'm reading that might not be the best as its a steroid and could make you more susceptible so not quite sure what to do. I have been sick 2 days, have a headache too, I also get sinus infections fairly easily. So I'm sitting here with my Vicks cool mist vaporizer to help me. And thankfully I have an adjustable bed so was at about a 35% angle which helps me breath. I just never get over things on my own, never did when young either. So I'm not sure what to do. I'm not panicking, trying to be sensible. I may go ahead and use my inhaler. Will decide today I guess.
My resting heart rate is about 73, normally around 62, my oxygen saturation per this is 96, last time I was like this they did a blood test and it was in the high 60's so I know its not really accurate. Just trying to decide what to do. I'm guessing its a cold or the flu. Guess I will use my inhaler that will help open my airways more.

I'm terrible. Not only have I not stocked up on toilet paper, we had a work event last night and I shook hands with at least 100 people. And I didn't use hand sanitiser between greetings.

Can you call your doctor's office, countrygirl2, to see what they suggest? I know it's the weekend, but my doctor always had someone answering the phone after hours. Something new at church today. Apparently, the "higher ups" have banned the shaking of hands, until the virus, or the fear of it, settles down. DS did the "live long and prosper" sign with one of his older friends at church (they both got a kick out of that). If you have a church that has the "community" communion cup, that might be getting banned, too. Don't want to be sharing germs.

Runny nose is not a symptom of coronavirus, based on what is being reported now.

And I'm the opposite, I ordered another case of TP the stuff doesn't last long anyway so no issue and also more Kleenex since I'm using it up.
I found zinc lozenges and ordered 6 bottles, there is 25 in each so that should work. E vitamins seems to be one of the least expensive, $25 including shipping, but 3 to 5 days. Since from Michigan and Fed Ex, hope its quicker.
I need to have hubs get more water softener, salt down to 2 bags.
I bought N95 and N99 respirators and hubs doesn't know what he did with them. Damn, I was using them for the sanding. I will look downstairs and see if the 99's are down there. I said I bought these just in case we need them. Sometimes he makes me so mad, its like no big deal to him.
If I had a fever I would be at the ER, but its 98.3 so that is not an issue.

I used the inhaler, breathing a lot better, but haven't eaten much today so giving me the shakes. It will pass. I did have a bowl of ice cream, seems to be the only thing I want. Not good I know. Will fix a cup of coffee in a few minutes.
I am washing my dishes on the sterilize cycle and clothes on the hot cycle with oxi clean. Our water is pretty hot.
Whatever hubs had, he is better, slept good last night. He won't catch this from me anyway. DD I don't know, she doesn't get sick that easily. But I'm betting the center she goes to with all the special adults may be a breeding ground for illness. Trying to decide if I should send her.
Right now I'm feeling a little better.

I'm sincerely not being dismissive, but I don't think we have an accurate picture of the mortality rate for Covid. China's reports are at a minimum, unreliable, and at worst, suspect. Italy's rates are high, but what is health care like in rural areas there? There is so much that plays into the mortality rate (age, pre-existing conditions, access to medical care, etc.) that it is really hard to know what the true threat is for both the Covid 19 virus AND the flu. So, I don't panic and I just use common sense.

So, I don't panic and I just use common sense. I agree that it is hard to know the true threat, however, WHO does have the experts and their mortality stats are 3.4%. As more cases are diagnosed, that is likely to change. And I am pretty sure that rural health care in Italy is probably much better than rural health care in the US. Italy's healthcare system is routinely ranked among the best in the world, based on its overall quality, equity of access, and the general health and life expectancy of the Italian population. Mortality rates for the flu are easier since it's been around longer. .1% is the number i see most often. Nobody should panic, but I don't think anyone should blow this off. The people who actually know something about this are warning us that this could get really bad. What we are seeing right now is the tip of the iceberg

Televangelist Jim Bakker Ordered By Attorney General To Stop Selling Fake Cure For CoronavirusWhatever televangelist Jim Bakker is selling, the New York Attorney General ain’t buying. Lisa Landau, Chief of the Health Care Bureau, gave The Jim Bakker Show 10 days to comply with a cease-and-desist letter that tells him to stop touting an alleged cure for the coronavirus. The letter was sent Thursday to Bakker’s office and cited a Feb. 12 episode of his show that claimed a Silver Solution sold on his website would be a preventative against the coronavirus. John Oliver covered the claims on his HBO Last Week Tonight show (see video below at the 17-minute mark). Bakker was previously convicted of fraud and served time in federal prison related to his activities connected to his popular Praise The Lord (PTL) Club show, a religious version of mainstream talk shows featuring Jim and wife Tammy Faye Bakker. The couple later divorced in 1992 in the wake of a scandal that saw Bakker pay hush money to cover up an affair with church secretary Jessica Hahn. But at one point in the 1980s, he was arguably the most prominent televangelist in America. He now has a new show and a new wife. And no one should trust any numbers coming out of this administration under the current circumstances.

My mom is in the hospital again, so sis went to Walmart to buy more Lysol and Clorox Clean Ups for when mom gets to come home. None to be had. No plain bleach either. No toilet paper or paper towels. She's going to check the other grocery stores tomorrow to see if she can find anything. We don't want mom to pick up anything, but can't put her in a mask if we can't buy any. Sis is going to ask the hospital to give her some to get through the next couple of weeks.

Thanks GG. I did find bleach tablets and latex gloves on Amazon this morning. I snapped them up as quickly as I could. I didn't see any masks except for third party sellers. The prices looked jacked up. I'll let sis see what she can find today and if she can't find anything I'll go ahead and pay the jacked up price. Mom is just getting over pneumonia that collapsed a lung. We want to be extra careful for a bit.
