... They want to make sure there is no stigma on our people who are being tested for whatever reason. .. I don't think "whatever reason" should be the standard. Be an idiot, be stigmatized.

I’m down to my last 4 5ths of Bourbon, hopefully I can make it through the week. Our local liquor store is holding a drawing in which you get your pick of three hard to get bourbons or a 12-pack of TP. I hope I win.

I did, however, have my "pharmaceutical rep" stop by and drop off 3-4 months worth of "medicine".

So, today our executives have been talking about the "stigma" of having Covid. They want to make sure there is no stigma on our people who are being tested for whatever reason. I did not know there was a stigma. I don't hold them personally responsible for catching Covid. I don't want to lick their face like I'm a dog. I don't want them in the office, but I don't think less of them as a person if they test positive. Is there a stigma attached to getting the virus? I heard about the below (across our country) last month. Support your Chinese restaurants. I am. Stigma adds to coronavirus anxiety for Asian-Americans in MinnesotaSome Asian-Americans fear loss of business, change travel plans A Chinese language school is facing a loss of attendance. Asian-American markets are Yang is aware that business could be affected if the coronavirus spreads in Minnesota, based on what he hears from friends who own Chinese restaurants in New York and Los Angeles that are seeing large declines in customers. His establishment is doing fine for now, but he’s already stocked six months of dry goods in case there’s any issue with suppliers in big coastal cities more affected by the virus. Article here: Stigma adds to coronavirus anxiety for Asian-Americans in Minnesota Spit On, Yelled At, Attacked: Chinese-Americans Fear for Their SafetyWASHINGTON — Yuanyuan Zhu was walking to her gym in San Francisco on March 9, thinking the workout could be her last for a while, when she noticed that a man was shouting at her. He was yelling an expletive about China. Then a bus passed, she recalled, and he screamed after it, “Run them over.” She tried to keep her distance, but when the light changed, she was stuck waiting with him at the crosswalk. She could feel him staring at her. And then, suddenly, she felt it: his saliva hitting her face and her favorite sweater. Sign Up For the Morning Briefing Newsletter In shock, Ms. Zhu, who is 26 and moved to the United States from China five years ago, hurried the rest of the way to the gym. She found a corner where no one could see her, and she cried quietly. “That person didn’t look strange or angry or anything, you know?” she said of her tormentor. “He just looked like a normal person.” As the coronavirus upends American life, Chinese-Americans face a double threat. Not only are they grappling like everyone else with how to avoid the virus itself, they are also contending with growing racism in the form of verbal and physical attacks. Other Asian-Americans — with families from Korea, Vietnam, the Philippines, Myanmar and other places — are facing threats, too, lumped together with Chinese-Americans by a bigotry that does not know the difference. There is a difference between racism for dumb-ass reasons (and exasperated by our president) and the stigma of actually having a disease.
With HIV, it was (and probably still is) associated with frequent casual sex and drug use. I think many believe if you got HIV, you deserve it. But there is a level of intimacy that is needed to transmit. Covid I can get from a door handle in my own house. I just don't see how people will make this a personal failure of the infected person.

This is so sad that someone would be that stupid.
I work with 3 Asian descent people and would have never thought of this. They are good people and do their jobs.

HIV can also be transmitted by blood transfusion. Remember Ryan White? I needed a blood transfusion at the height of HIV. After recovering from surgery, I then had to have to HIV tests 3 months apart because the blood supply was not being tested. I would have faced stigma. There has been a case here where a man was charged with attempted murder for knowingly having sex with a woman when he knew he was HIV positive. Should that woman face stigma? The man plead to a lesser charge but did go to jail. Nobody deserved to get HIV, nobody.

Most people get it through sex.

That was exactly my point. Your assumptions are wrong.
Babies also get HIV transmitted from their mother. Many times, the mother was unknowingly infected by a husband who cheated on her. This is true especially in Africa.
My doctor specialized in HIV/AIDS before his retirement. He was the one who insisted I have two HIV tests 20 years ago as the blood supply was not safe.

What is the stereotypical stigma behind getting CV19? You went out of the house? You didn't wash your hand enough? You are obese? What personal action are we judging the victims for - even if it is wrong?
