I spent most of yesterday morning in bed, reading and playing on my Kindle. My 11 year old came in and watched some TV too. DH brought me food. It was wonderful.

Gave myself permission to beg for a ticket for my college when they play volleyball in Iowa City on Friday night.
It worked.

This will sound bizarre but working for my dad has really helped. While I am tired and sore I feel a lot better emotionally than I have in awhile. The resturant was such a huge part of my life, especially before I got married and had kids. While nobody likes giving up their Saturday evenings I find myself looking forward to see old customers. Yesterday one of my old co-workers stopped by and it was like we never stopped working together. DH was quite surprised witnessing a side of my personality that he doesn't encounter on a daily basis. DH didn't realize we knew each other and almost stepped in till Dad assured him we were just talking shit. It's been good to let out sides of me that aren't wrapped up in being a wife and a mother. I feel more whole between working for dad and going to Colorado. Then I set up a play date between Abby and my BFF's daughter of the same age for later this month (it's really a disguise for us to have a play date ). We've known each other since we were 13 years old, she knows me better than DH does. So that has been nice to tap into as well.

I tested out the new coffeepot I bought myself yesterday. it's a snazzy little 4-in-1 thing that can brew straight into a travel mug if I want to. $15 at Walmart, and roommate can keep his overkill Keurig packed away. all set.
after reading the newspaper while savoring that cup of coffee, I took the pups out for a 3mi walk on the canal. sun, salt air, and a slight breeze were exactly what I needed today. 😎

I went to bed early last night. I think I was asleep by 915 at the very latest. But probably out even before the kids were. I did the hugs and bedtime stuff with them early and when they asked/complained about it, I said "I'm tired and going to bed. So we're doing this now." and they accepted it just fine after that.

Black & Decker. when I have had coffee pots over the years, it's always been that brand. they are pretty solid.

I walked the dog, changed Dh, and then told the world good-bye as I enjoyed 2 beers on the deck listening to music on my Amazon Tap. It is time I treasure, and I appreciate that DH understands how much I value it. We live sort of in the country, and I can play it fairly loudly. I think the neighbors can hear it (sound carries across open space), but they don't care. We are talking about an hour max, and I am always through by 6 p.m. I'm hardly interrupting their sleep.

Gloomy. I went to be angry about my late SIL. I did take a sleep med. I woke up early still angry. I read Jesus Calling daily devotion which helped. This will be a long recovery for the entire family.
I am walking away from negative people who have given me a hard time over the years. I know I am very thin skinned right now. Even some of my family . I'll be polite, present but knowing your snips/slights are coming. I have a low sense of humor right now. I will continue to put off the colonoscopy. Fasting right now would be torture; and the doctor was not listening to me. My mental health is fragile. I'll text love to my GrS. His emotional support is thin.
I'll go to the movie Goldfinch this afternoon. I read the book a couple of years ago.
On Friday I'll go play golf. I hope the weather is good.

Hugs Artemis. I'm sorry you're going through this.
*-*-* I'm finding reruns of Great British Baking Show soothing. My local PBS channel runs seasons 4-7 so I've seen all of those episodes, reapeatedly. So I run the whatever recorded when I'm getting ready to sleep. I fell asleep last night in the middle of the showstopper bread bake.

I am WFH today. I'm already out on the patio with the golden, LD keeps going back inside to warm up. it's a bit brisk out here today, the sun hasn't made it over the peak of the roof yet. 61 degrees. I have also figured out a huge piece of my exit plan from this house - leeching roommate is going to be getting a notice to quit when I get back from the bonus cruise in November. I need someone for the long weekend in AZ and then the week of the cruise, but then I'm home for a long stretch and I'm good. I was on the receiving end of some first class chutzpah and emotional abuse this past weekend and the previous couple of weeks and I have finally had enough. the straw that broke the camel's back was when the 23yo kid that somehow spends 5 nights a week upstairs (but it's okay, her car isn't taking up space in the driveway. ) was running her mouth in earshot of my out of town friend this weekend, basically parroting some of the garbage the roommate says. you can both now just GTFO of my house, fuck you very much.

I fall asleep on the couch several nights every week. I think I'm just going to stay there a few nights to see what happens!

You're welcome.
Dh and I alternate who's on the couch and who's in our room. I get our room on weekends and the couch on weeknights. On vacations, we use sound machines and he has earplugs since I snore. It's system.

I slept great getting up at 8:00 a.m. with Pickleball at 9:00 a.m. I was easily confused which is not a good sign. H. asked what was for dinner, chicken noodles. He suggested Thai food. They were out of shrimp donuts. I had satay and it was real good. His dinner will go for 2 meals.

I lifted weights. It's been a week but at least I got there. I used to be regular as clock work in getting to the gym. Maybe I can get that schedule back.

yesterday, I got some vitamin D in the best way possible - sitting outside and getting some sun while working. that always makes me feel better. after cranking out some work and chores, I let myself go to bed early and started today ridiculously early. I'll be out of here (the office) around noon or so, logging back in when I get home. doing my best to roll with the work punches as they come.

I have to get 2 crowns this morning. I don't think this is taking care of myself but trying to prevent a worse problem. Definitely not coping well.

WFH today. I came out to visit my favorite bartender over lunch (I am drinking seltzer) to catch up on things for both of us the past few weeks. I haven't seen her since I went to AZ. I think we both needed this. *note: she is a friend of mine outside of being my favorite bartender. ETA: I hadn't yet told her that I'd decided to tell roommate after Nov cruise that I'll be listing the house after the Jan one, etc. and she wasn't at all surprised. when we talked about why M was reacting the way she has been, the bartender's response was "I don't get it. anyone that's been paying attention would see this coming...." that was nice to hear. that I'm not as invisible as I've been feeling in my own house, in my own life, lately.

With the exception of taking the dogs on one 15 minute walk, I spent the entire weekend in the house and in jammies.

I ate a ginger molasses cookie that someone brought in. Because it was there and I could. It was excellent.

I watched the movie Pitch Black with DH on Friday night. The kids were gone so we didn't have to pause to stop when kids wandered out. My kids are not good with bugs, the dark, and scary movies.
ETA - it's been a while since I saw it from the beginning.

I met with a personal trainer for an intro session last night. I think I'm going to sign up for Nov and Dec and see if I can squeeze in Jan when I start coaching DD11's bball team. Hoping it helps me lose some weight, deal with stress, and stave off winter depression. That's worth $327/month for 9 sessions, right? Eventually I can drop down to small group sessions for $227/month. Sessions are 30 minutes and include nutrition coaching which I need, and it's only 10 minutes from my house.

Tbe staving off depression alone is worth ten times that, azucena. What a good idea.
