Woke up at 5:55 so I could get my run in before the kids got up (it's Easter break for school and daycare is closed, so they are both with me at home today). 4 miles on the treadmill, though I almost could have went outside - it is so light at 6 a.m.! I've been running consistently for 7.5 years - on trails, roads, treadmills, etc. - anywhere from 20-50 miles/week depending on the type of race for which I'm training. Knees are holding up so far.

I actually got a really good night's sleep last night. Not necessarily on purpose, I went to be a little later than I should have, but I only woke up once during the night, instead of every couple hours.

I had a wonderful time at my neice's wedding on Sat. She was gorgeous, the groom was too. I laughed, I danced, I talked with relatives. It was a very happy and relaxing event for me.
The Great TV Auction is currently running on our local PBS station. I won a pair of sandals. They're red and black and I think they're cute. I hope they're comfy!
DH and I talked about Mother's Day and Father's Day gifts. I told him I wanted a spa day. He made a slight effort to not have to set it up but stopped when I told him gift cards to whatever spa he wanted to chose. He did ask if I wanted solo or with DD. But that too will depend on what spa it is. Some are kid friendly, some aren't. He wants a DNA test that will do something with his matriarchal DNA. It's on sale for $150 or so. So he ordered that over the weekend for his Father's Day gift.

I decided to start a run streak and try to run at least one mile a day for...however long I can. I've had a stomach bug since Easter and now I have a cold, and I just really needed something fun to do - plus I'm having trouble hitting my mileage/pace numbers since I've been sick. So Friday, 4 miles. Saturday, 1 mile. Sunday, 4.75 miles. Monday, 2 miles plus the kids will want to do their .5 mile tonight (I started them running to the mailbox and back )

I did the usual trash out, vac, laundry, pick things up. And I read all day. The book called Surviving the Fall by Mike Kraus. I'm on page 250 out of 800.
Tomorrow I MUST work on books or sew and iron.
Hubs is bringing windows home from the house, going to set them up in the garage and I'm going to strip them and glaze the outside, then put primer on and after that a coat of paint. I think there are 6 small ones in the kitchen and back porch, 2 big ones from the bedrooms, maybe 1 more half done from there.
They called and said my shots are going to be $180 a month for repathe, generic of it. Supposedly called the pharmacy to say I will pay for it and they are to call me. Never heard from them.

I thought I had a doctor's appointment today so I had arranged to take vacation time for the appointment. This morning I called the doctor's office to double-check, and found the appointment had been cancelled and not rescheduled. (Totally my fault, I vaguely remember the call when I was out of town that the doctor would not be available for our scheduled appointment but didn't have my calendar in front of me to reschedule then and there.)
Since I had the time off arranged for already, I took it off, got home before the sun was low in the Western sky, and enjoyed myself in my house during the daytime on a non-weekend day or holiday. This is totally not me. "I" would have not bothered to cancel the vacation time request and worked through it anyway, losing three hours of vacation time for nothing.
Maybe this is the new "me." It may not be, but I would like to think I inched closer to the new "me" today. The "me" that can take time off and not feel guilty.

last night, I decided that dozing on the couch was just going to perpetuate the bad sleep cycle I'm in this week, and I started my nighttime routine at 7pm. I pulled my curtains to darken the room, didn't turn on hockey (was there even a game last night?) on the sleep timer, and was asleep well before 8pm. I only woke up once, but it took a little while to fall back to sleep. I actually woke up fully refreshed at 330, even with that 7h or so being interrupted once.
I won't be able to repeat that tonight with the Bruins playing, but I'm sure going to do that more often!

I met a friend for a delicious lunch at the beach, went for a full body massage afterward, and then ran a few errands to ease the crunch of daily life during the upcoming work week: filled up the gas tank, stopped at Trader Joe's and CVS, and swung by the garden center to bring a little beauty home with me.

Not a lot today, laundry, dishes. Made ham salad and sat around, book work this evening, that's done. So I'm reading on my 800 page book I'm on 628, won't get it done tonight.
Durn blood thinner, I sliced a v in my left forefinger and just keeps bleeding off and on. I have cleaned blood off floors and carpet. Maybe after 2 days improving. I found a net and a fingercot and put that on it. Hard to type but keeps me from bumping it. Likely should have had a stitch or two.
But all is well. A laid back relaxing day.

Slept 11.5 hours. I fell asleep in front of the TV last night.
I am working on clearing out the pantry food so I made pancakes.
I like doing Gilad workouts so I did that. I found a pair of culottes I used to wear years ago and stuffed myself into them. The idea is to remind myself and my waist line to return to that size. The fabric is so nice, loose in the legs, great for hot weather. I also kept my linen look culottes. I wish the wrinkle free linen look fabric would come back.
Steamed my face. I tried to french braid my hair. It's too soft. I am gathering items to make one of those book page wreaths.

It's day 10 of my run streak! So I did 10 miles for day 10. It rained the whole time, and I wasn't as fast as I should have been, but it felt good!
Now I'm going to take a nap!

Forced myself to eat an ice cream cone. That's all I ate today. I felt hypoglycemic.

I ate some mac and cheese and spiral ham for dinner. Not what I should have eaten, but it was really good for a change. Back to healthy eating tomorrow.

I put on another thread how I sat on the deck and listened to music. I would rather have music than television. The first thing I bought after the divorce was a CD player.
Anyway, it made me happy.☺

I reset my alarm when it went off at 330, to 545. logged in to work at 6 and started my workday from home. that extra 2h of sleep gave me a much clearer head this morning to be able to start putting life back in order to best work for ME. 😊

Not just today but I added an extra day to what was my usual 3 day weekend and came to SC to visit family. I almost cancelled because of costs but I'm very happy I did come. Sunday was perfect. I was just smiling being on the boat yesterday on the water.
I've been in a funk over feeling I don't really have any local friends and that I'm always going but there's never time for things I enjoy. Jamaica was fun but this recharged me in a completely different way.

I spent an hour relaxing in my jacuzzi tub last night after working for several hours in the garden. Slept like a baby!

I laid on the couch once I got home. My right knee buckled while I was at my Mom's house. And every few steps, it'd buckle again. I got me and the kids home, got onto the couch and stayed there. The kids foraged for food. I eventually got up, took some ibuprofen and went back to the couch with an icepack. DH handled the kids bedtime last night, even though it was my turn (we alternate nights)
I'm much better today but I have no idea what happened. I was leaning on Mom's counter and my knee just gave way. It'd hurt every few steps but not constantly.

I took today and tomorrow off. I've been having a ton of work thrown at me lately and it's exhausting both mentally and physically (though I will say that thanks to lifting full six litre bottles every day for the past two weeks my arms look fantastic). I need to recharge before my head explodes, I have a tantrum and/or I make a mistake that I can't fix. That's happened before when I get overworked and I recognize the signs. I get no prize for hustling myself to that point.

I told DH that I wanted to toss some steaks on the grill for my mother's day meal. Along with some baked potates. If he wants salad, he can deal with it. We're combing Mother's Day with K's bday party we have to bake a cake tonight.

Wednesday, after the conference ended at noon, I spent three hours walking along the Vancouver waterfront with colleagues. Today, I have a massage scheduled.
Wisconsin Beth - sounds like your kneecap slipped out of place. It's been happening to me on a somewhat predictable basis since I was in my 20s. I know how to massage mine back into place, but for me, it does mean that I will need knee replacement surgery (probably sometime in the next 10 years). Hopefully yours in a one time thing thanks to a pulled ligament or something along those lines. But if it doesn't get better soon or keeps happening, I'd go see an orthopedist.

i laid down for about an hour when I finally got home from work. I might have dozed off for 30min or so, but I had a massive headache my whole drive. ugh. felt better when I woke up, but had a couple pouty dogs since we didn't go anywhere to play.
now, I'm in bed before 8pm with the curtains drawn. it's pretty gross out, so it's not that bright anyway, but this just helps more. winding down now.

I took the kids to school this morning. I'm using VAC time to cover it. But I did it because I wanted to. C had asked me if I'd do dropoff so that was on my mind. Plus today K is going camping with the 4th and 5th grades so I wanted to give her more goodbye hugs than normal.

I told DH that we are not ever getting hotel rooms that don't include 2 real beds when we travel with the kids. He talked me into a room with a king bed and a sleeper sofa. We were supposed to switch around but he didn't fit on the sleeper sofa so I got stuck with it for 2 nights. My back still hurts.

I booked next year's big cruise today. interior cheapy cabin with a pair of low maintenance girlfriends. AZ is booking tomorrow (we book on seniority, he's "only" been sailing 7 or 8y lol...) and will be booking nearby.
I'm winding down and heading to bed soon. tomorrow is back to a 330am alarm. just need to do this for another week and a half until I can start taking the train at more normal human hours. my.golden retriever is pouting in the bay window after a pretty fun-filled day. that makes me really sad.
