The Kavanagh confirmation is the final proof that the GOP party is dead. There are no longer any moderate republicans, there are no 'republicans' at all any more - no more fiscally responsible, limited government GOPers.
Instead, we have the Trumpette party, who gloats in having a whiny, petulant partisan SCOTUS candidate who cries during his Senate hearing about the Dem funded Deep State making him a victim.
Kavanagh has demeaned the SCOTUS, and has pulled that dignified assembly into gutter partisan politics, and no matter how long he serves on the court, he will always be the tainted judge.
Republicans are not dead. They finally had enough of the democrats and drew a line in the dirt that was being thrown. I think the fact that they now knew Trump would not back down and retreat by withdrawing the nomination gave them the cahonas to actually act like a political party welling to fight. Either that, or they knew they had nothing to lose Regardless, withholding the accusation until after the questioning was done, was the last freaking straw for Republicans as well as most Indepenednt voters in the country. Dems cried "WAR" and Republicans said, "bring it on, and give us your best shot". How unfortunate for your fake narrative that Ford's letter wasn't leaked earlier, putting her in the spot to decide to go public after reporters were allegedly at her doorstep.
Spare me the fake outrage story about the accusation. I doubt it would have made any difference had it come earlier. Judge was never going to come forward, as the GOP senators would have never asked him to. The only difference is the whine is slightly different. Whining the accusation is late, when really I think there would be general whining that it existed at all. That you all never ever act on info that isn't fully vetted in your lives.
One thing I am certain of is its only some conservatives who actually believe the Democratic Party would even use sexual assault as a political tool. It doesn't work on Trump followers and many of the current GOP. They don't care even if it is true. I bet Kavanaugh could have been convicted of rape at seventeen and still been approved by the GOP senators. In fact, I can't think of much that would disqualify him in their minds, short of murdering another white guy.

If trump nominated a serial killer to the SC, McConnell would move heaven and earth to get him confirmed And the trumpets would wave their flags and go “Yay” 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Kavanaugh never tried a case in his life. No experience.
He has had experience with blackouts and hangovers, however.

See, your problem is you see government as a blood sport, where one party fights to gain control, and crushes any dissidents under their jack boots while crowing about their victory.
That's not how the founding fathers envisioned our democracy. In fact, that's the reason they spent so much time creating so many checks and balances between the three parts of our government, and between the federal and state levels - to avoid a tyranny.
I can remember a time when both parties worked together across the aisle to try to get things done. When the republicans could be relied on to put the brakes on overspending. Now we have the Trump party, spending like a drunken sailor, with most of the windfall going into the pockets of the 1%. We have the Trump party president leading a rally of his faithful in a chant of 'lock her up' against a sitting US senator (apparently, the Trump party only needs proof of criminality when it's a Trump party member being accused on wrong doing). We have the Trump party president lying to his rapt followers about the economy, about the media, about our allies and our enemies. None of this is anything a GOP president would do.
So, say that we don't end up with a 'red wave' - which you seem to think we'll have at midterms (look at the following if you want to know why I think a red wave is unlikely). Unlike you, I won't see the 'blue ripple' (which I think is more likely) as some war victory. I'll see it as a repudiation of the Trump party, and hopefully a move away from the chaos and tyranny, back towards the plain old, creaky, sometimes aggravating but sometimes wonderful GOP party of the past. A sign that the GOP party is cutting out the rotten appendix that is Donald Trump before he explodes and takes the entire GOP party down forever.
