Here's reality again, Dr. Ford believes Kavanaugh attempted to rape her back then. *I* don't believe he has good character as evidenced by how he behaved in the hearing. The Trump party line and many conservatives line is that this was all done for show. I disagree. Ford did it because she thought it was important to share.

I don't know why you all see it as a smear, after all, very few conservatives believe women's accusations against powerful men until they lose in court. And not even then sometimes. Honestly, sometimes I think some conservative posters are willing to give sainthood to these men under the incorrect assumption that almost all accusations are for some bizarre moment in the sun/money pkg many of you seem to think exists and yet, really where is the evidence of that?

The Republicans intentionally hid almost all the documentation of his career, so I'm wondering really if its that well-respected or just something most conservatives would be happy with. I think given his performance, he has more in common with his HS and college days than many would like to acknowledge. His good rep may be more from others projecting their beliefs onto him, like W, than reality. IDK. As a non conservative, its hard for me to reconcile how he acted towards Bill Clinton in the legal process, and yet how willing he was to do the same by lying under oath. So obviously he didn't believe what he wrote. You all gave him the biggest participation trophy ever, an appointment to the SC.

You seem to have your facts confused (yet again).  Dr Ford contacted Senator Feinstein.  Not the other way around.  Dr Ford felt it was her civic duty to come forward even though she preferred to stay anonymous.  She was outed by the news media.

Here's my position on what's come up for Kavanaugh in regards to possible bad behavior with women in the past.

Exposing himself to a female student - tacky, but not big enough to reject him as a candidate

Ford's accusation - scary, and significant enough to reject him as a candidate for me.

The lines for rape, etc. - need corroborating evidence to even consider seriously. Would be ignored by me in deciding candidacy.

His performance during testimony made me see him as more likely to have done what Ford accused him of, instead of less likely. My belief is he remembers little when he got so drunk, so that's why he feels he's innocent. Since she knew him, the odds of her being mistaken are low. I don't feel she's falsely accusing him just to derail the nomination. I think that's what the majority of conservative posters believe, that are posting on this issue. But my biggest concern really is Kavanaugh is happy to lie under oath to protect himself now. The same thing he thought was so important when Bill Clinton did it.

This is an allegation with again, no proof. It takes one person to leak any story, whether its decided on by multiple people or its just someone with loose lips talking when they shouldn't. It easily could have been whoever opened the mail blabbed to someone else who blabbed to other people, and then it became news.

It's actually a pathetic attempt to make Kavanagh the poor victim while blaming the actual victim, Ford, for being the 'accuser.'

Trump has done this a lot, but he's never been so successful at painting a male harasser as a poor victim before. It deserves a special place in the whiner's hall of fame for managing to make the drunken, grabby male harasser into this poor, pitiful, whiner crying about how sad he and his family are.

This dem doesn't want him impeached.    He's there.  I'll grudgingly live with it.   I think he's a drunk ass, and his performance at the hearing showed he does not have the judicial temperament to serve as a judge.  However, he's just one of many out there.

Impeachment - of Kavanagh and/or Trump - is the current scare tactic Trump and the Trumpettes are pushing to try to get their voters motivated to vote in the midterms.

 

The previous scare tactic (brown people raping your wives and daughters) worked so well in the 2016 election, you know they had to come up with a good dog whistle for this one, too.

Yes, but one of those sides is correct.

Hint:  It isn't today's conservatives and Trump supporters who are correct.  Those who listen to Trump are the real problem.  An entire ideology built on hatred and lies because that is all he has to offer and they are far too willing to fall for it.  We used to have a viable and honorable Republican party in this country.  I wish we still did.  And I wish the left was not overreacting by going back the other way now.  Polarization helps nobody, and extreme polarization hurts us all.  Blame the far-right.  They brought us here.
