I am angry about one thing. All the fucking idiots who are continually posting about "dems think this, dems are going to do this." Knock it off. To be fair, this board is full of "repubs think this, repubs are going to do this"....even funnier is that at least one of the people that liked this exact post is one of the loudest people saying this about republicans. Perhaps both sides should take a step back and stop being assholes. I've never said that, and I don't care to ever say it. I'm sick of both sides. We're capable of better discourse,

Do you have any proof that they were paid? There's ZERO proof. Or is it only the Democrats who have to provide proof? No, No, No,,,, the zero proof was in the Ford accusation!! You need to get your ducks in a row. So you have proof that these demonstraters were paid? Well, by all means, let's see it! Post the proof. "Fox News says so" isn't proof. You need to get your geese in a row.

I think the president and congress need to lead by example when it comes to behaving in a dignified manner, and attempting to work in a bipartisan manner.
Unfortunately, Trump showed that you can get elected by purposefully antagonizing a large segment of the voting public, as long as you are also motivating those voters who are willing to vote for you to turn out, and both parties have latched onto this antagonistic model, abandoning civility completely.
We no longer have people who represent us in Washington. We have politicians who curry favor with a carefully calculated segment of their base, and ignore the rest of us. I'd love to go back to the old days when a politician didn't dare say anything negative about any part of his voting base, but I don't know how to get there.

Your POTUS called the other side "evil" today. If you want it to stop, it should start at the top. Clearly, your hero isn't capable of anything better.

Unlike you I am at work today so I haven't seen any news coverage of Trump today so I have no idea who or what he called evil. The little bit of time I normally scroll through the news has been spent on here...wasted time for sure.

I'm confused...Romney lost exactly. crap like that led to his defeat. Trump says much worse and wins. And there are some people who still think the man in incapable of telling a lie and will excuse whatever he says, no matter how disrespectful or rude.

I am less concerned about niceties than I am about making my country into what I think it should be. I didn't vote for Trump because I like him as a person. I voted for him because I wanted a certain course for this country and he was much more likely to do what I wanted than Hillary was.

bolded done by me. Dr Ford goes on record that she does not want Justice Kavanaugh impeached..... but the Progressives, Democrat Socialists, Liberals, Democrats are sending out their 'dog whistle' to rally the base threatening impeachment, which will further exploit Dr Ford Changing the subject.... since your statement accusing Feinstein's office of leaking has been disproven.. Here's a newsflash for you. I'm on the mailing list of every progressive office/organization/lawmaker (at least it seems that way) and I've gotten NO rallying cries for impeachment. The only people I hear screaming about impeachment is the RW. Care to explain THAT? (Or just change the subject again?) Where can I find these "rallying calls" for impeachment? Slate.Com had an article on it on Friday.

This. In my state, I was fed up with "the other side" threatening my 2nd amendment rights, increasing taxes, and more currently, wanting to rid of a major industry.

Well you will now have hundreds of businesses returning to America, according to Phil. There will be more mass school shootings, and massive deficits as is typical of conservative regimes. Congrats!

I know no one likes raising taxes, but we are so far in debt at this point there is no other choice. We put 2 unfunded wars on the credit card, and its not fair to kick that payment down to our grandchildren.
Lastly, major industry I'm assuming is something unsustainable, like coal. You do realize industries change all the time. The car put the horse and carriage out of business, the world changes, and we must change with it. We can't prop up every dying industry just because people fear change.
I feel like if these were the 3 important things you voted on, you were fearful of nothing, or got lied to....just MHO.

Luckily the first one didn't make the ballot, and the state rep who was behind it was eventually ousted. The second one we fought locally, and it was shot down with a margin of 2 to 1. The third one, well, we'll see. If this industry "changes" as you put it, because of the enviros it will cause thousands of people to lose their jobs, and our county will go bankrupt. That being said, I would personally like solar and wind to catch up with coal and natural gas. Thank you for your opinion, though, hurley1980 . It's nice to have conversation rather than continuous (collective) I hate your side posts.

Impeachment - of Kavanagh and/or Trump - is the current scare tactic Trump and the Trumpettes are pushing to try to get their voters motivated to vote in the midterms. The previous scare tactic (brown people raping your wives and daughters) worked so well in the 2016 election, you know they had to come up with a good dog whistle for this one, too.
(Where is that Wall, by the way?)
This just popped up regarding impeachment a la Booker. And please don't flame me about where the news story is from. GG already tried to go down that road.

... This just popped up regarding impeachment a la Booker. ... If the headline written by someone at Yahoo News stating "Cory Booker says Kavanaugh impeachment shouldn't be off the table" comes from: “If there is conclusory evidence that shows unequivocally that he lied to a Senate committee, that is a crime and he should be held accountable for those criminal acts,” Booker said. then I have no problem with it being on the table. Do you?

Do you? I posted to reference the comment earlier saying it's the Right who keep whining about impeachment. I find it interesting Booker didn't want Kavanaugh and said so back in July. Now, since he didn't get his way, he's reverting to different tactics. And I absolutely have a "problem" with it being on the table for reasons which have been posted on this board ad nauseam the past few weeks. However, if by some miracle, aka an eighth FBI investigation (or any other) of Judge Kavanaugh turns up evidence, I may be typing a different tune in the future.
And yes, I'd feel the same way if the wrongful impeachment of a Dem were being proposed.
As ken a.k.a OMK mentioned over the weekend, the vote is over. It's time to move on.

"Don't talk back."
Not certain where you're going with this? Does impeachment of a SC Justice mean removal from office? Or is it just like Clinton's impeachment: a black mark on your name and time in office, but otherwise meaningless?

That being said, I would personally like solar and wind to catch up with coal and natural gas. Instead of $12 billion in farming subsidies due to his reckless tariffs tantrum, could’ve been half of that into retraining woodles of coal miners in new jobs or simply supporting them! Would’ve been cheaper! At least until new job opportunities arise in those specific areas. I understand that “major job numbers increases are touted! Aren’t any of those in the coal regions? i know that the coal industry is concentrated in just a few spots and would hurt the locals if the mining was done and out but nobody is talking about eradicating those jobs. We are just talking about investing in alternatives! and we are not going to go banckrupt because of the environmental movement but because of more and more tax cuts for the super wealthy. The House just passed another bill to cut $3.8 trillion over a decade or so and all for high earners and corporations. Nothing for Joe Schmoe. In the last year and a half the national debt rose by at least $2 trillion but all conservatives are mum about it. If a democrat were to do it would’ve been the equivalent of Apocalypse!

Similar process as for a president
House - impeach ( majority vote )
Senate - conviction or not ( 2/3 senate vote to convict )
( High Bar )
I think a threat to impeach , has led to a person resigning and be done with it
(yakety yak -meant approaching midterms the politicians seem like they are are into chattering ,idle and/or foolish talk ---"silly season" time)

So basically, Kavanaugh could be impeached but it's not likely the Senate would remove him is my guess. Especially after all the fireworks to get him on the SC to begin with.

Around here with a lot of diverse people where I work , the conversation went into wishful thinking mode . The most consistent optimistic view was maybe wondering just what the story is on the alcohol use. Not that anyone or quite a number of the people here ever consider taking the conversation to the gutter, but it is a medical complex so naturally there was a concern that too much alcohol could fry the liver and no telling what could happen then ),
