You might not notice them. Technology has improved somewhat since the first vests came out. Most are worn underneath their uniform shirts now. They aren't as bulky as the old ones and you probably wouldn't even notice them. At least that's how it is around here. The tactical teams - you may notice vests on them because they are usually on the outside of their clothing but most law enforcement officers wear them under their uniform shirts.
That is probably it. I retract everything I said. Except that the guys in the courthouse aren't wearing vests. They admit they are not wearing body armor. They might have it close at hand and can throw it on as they are running to a situation, but they don't wear it during normal duties in the courthouse my husband works in.

That's weird. Little upstate NY county here, all the security wear vests. They're NYS officers, and it's mandated by the state.

In India, Mongolia, Afghanistan, Nepal, and Northern China all, peace officers are required to wear claw-, teeth-, and acid-proof vests. By now even the lot of you should be able to figure out why.

I can't find which thread it was on & I'm not going hunting for it. But the father of the student that claimed his question was "altered" by CNN has admitted to "leaving off words" that altered the emails & he shopped those around. In other words, CNN didn't change his question, didn't stage the questions, and didn't do what they were accused of on Fox News or by a couple of posters here. The father altered the email exchange to make it appear as if the questions were staged. Claims he didn't do it on purpose, but I think that can be questioned now considering how he & his son tried to run with their version of the story which was....wait for it....FAKE NEWS! www.tampabay.com/florida-politics/buzz/2018/02/27/shooting-survivors-father-admits-email-changes-in-cnn-spat/

It is on the "fourteen year old responds....) thread. Sounds like, 'I didn't mean to cut out the words that prove I was lying! Really!' I for one believe him. I mean, how could you not?

Nope the has been a assault weapons ban before which ran out in 2004. (in response to a School massacre) During that the the number of kids dying in School shootings dropped significantly some would like this to be looked at again. The "right to bear arms" isn't infinite anyway....... You cant have a helicopter gunship or a cruise missile. Its about finding what is right for society and enacting it under the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act What price do you put on the life of those kids? ...or the next lot of dead kids when it inevitably happens again. Doing "nothing" would be negligent. It was during Clinton's gun ban that Columbine took place. www.truthrevolt.org/news/flashback-cbs-reported-clintons-94-assault-weapons-ban-didnt-prevent-columbine

Did the Columbine shooters legally buy any of their guns themselves? It does not matter if they were legally bought or not. they still killed a bunch of people! Hell they made bombs also, I doubt if they were legal. It is the people that kill others, those guns don't shoot people by themselves.

It matters if you are equating Columbine with all of the mass shootings that have occurred since the ban ended. And the one weapon that was subject to the ban we don't really know (as far as I am aware) how many of the 13 deaths can be attributed.

At lunch today, there were 5 police officers at the table next to us. One was wearing a visible vest, 3 were in uniform, but did not appear to be wearing a vest, and the 5th guy was in khakis and a polo shirt with the police logo. The three in the uniforms might have been wearing something under their shirts, but they looked much less stiff than the guy who was wearing the vest on top of his clothes.

Hmmmm? At some point, some vehicles were blocking others. Yes, that sort of thing happens in these types of situations.

Manhunt prevented rescue helicopter from helping injured
...
"We can't put the bird down yet due to an active hazard," a commander replied.
... I think not creating a situation in which a pilot could be shot leading to a crash or giving access of a helicopter to someone attempting to escape a scene is a good idea.

This Parkland teacher left his gun in a public bathroom. It was loaded, BSO says. Not the most normal sight: a gun left in the bathroom stall. But that's exactly what went down on Sunday in a men's room at the Deerfield Beach Pier. The circumstances of how the Glock 9mm got there are unusual. According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, the weapon was left by Sean Simpson. If his name sounds familiar, he's the teacher at Marjory Stoneman Douglas who said he'd be willing to arm himself while on duty. According to the sheriff's office report, Simpson told deputies he'd left his gun by accident. By the time the chemistry teacher realized his mistake, the Glock was already in the hands of a drunk homeless man who had picked it up and fired. The bullet hit a wall. Simpson was able to grab the gun away from the vagrant, Joseph Spataro, who was charged with firing a weapon while intoxicated and trespassing. As for the MSD teacher, he was arrested and charged with failing to safely store a firearm, a second-degree misdemeanor. Simpson posted a $250 cash bond and was released. I have one question, in the Parkland shooting where exactly was David Hogg? Does any one know?

I see David Hogg now has a book deal. Let me guess. "High on the Hogg: How to Spin Tragedy into Pseudocelebrity in the 21st Century" With a foreword by Cliven Bundy.
