"A Florida woman is accused of skinny-dipping in a stranger’s pool and refused multiple requests to leave, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.
Heather A. Kennedy, 42, is facing charges of trespass in structure or conveyance and resisting an officer without violence.
The homeowner told deputies he returned home and noticed a naked stranger in his pool after spotting clothing scattered across the lanai...." Enough with the Florida Man stories. I had to throw in a Florida Woman story for a change. I mean, who just picks a random house, gets nekkid and goes for a swim? Only in the FLA. Summary of the movie The Swimmer with Burt Lancaster: Good flick.

A Florida woman is suing Velveeta for $5 million, claiming that her instant macaroni didn't cook fast enough
A Florida woman has filed a class action lawsuit against Kraft Heinz's cheesy instant macaroni product Velveeta, arguing that her macaroni and cheese took too much time and too many steps to prepare. According to the court documents, Amanda Ramirez mounted a class action lawsuit against Velveeta's parent company Kraft Heinz Foods Company, asking for up to $5 million. Central to Ramirez's claims in the lawsuit is that Velveeta did not actually take 3-and-a-half minutes to prepare – and that only the microwaving step took that long. "The statement of 'ready in 31⁄2 minutes' is false and misleading because the Product takes longer than 3-and-a-half minutes to prepare for consumption," Ramirez said in the suit. "To provide consumers with a Product that is actually 'ready in 3 1⁄2 minutes,' the Product would need to be cooked in the microwave for less than 3-and-a-half minutes, so that all the preparation steps could be completed in the 3-and-a-half minutes timeframe." Some lawyer must think there is a pay day there. I hope there is not. When I was in my employer's ground operations division, two of my co-workers were terminated for refusing to take a drug test. They hired an attorney and were suing the company for $50 million. Their attorney did not charge them and agreed to a cut of the settlement money. Once the facts were known, the attorney started charging them. My employer considered the lawsuit a nuisance lawsuit and offered them $10 thousand to go away. The two ex-employees accepted the money and their lawyer took it all away as his fee for services. One of the two employees eventually went to prison for some other unrelated crime.

I'm surprised there is no recent news in the Flor-i-duh thread, because there is ALWAYS something worthy of reporting. I had a really good laugh this morning. The community I used to live in is having a well-known food festival this weekend, and they put the porta potties RIGHT NEXT to the food tents. I can't even... (Gross! Can you even imagine the smell after this weekend?)

Haha Was there a limited property space, where the porta potties could be put? I'd hate to be the person cooking, or serving food next them. My ex-soninlaw owned a porta potty business. I never asked about any stories. I didn't want to know.

Exactly. I know it must have been overwhelming, but why not many garbage bags full of it? It was dried pasta, he could have just put so many bags out each week.
About a month ago, since I wasn't sleeping I realized most of my rice and pasta were really old and tossed a bunch in the garbage, Nowhere near what he had, but more than 5 pkgs each.

Nude woman jumps into Biscayne Bay with baby — then fights with cops who haul them onto boat
A naked woman who jumped into Biscayne Bay with her 3-year-old nephew Thursday morning, causing a commotion that attracted horrified onlookers and law enforcement, is now in much hotter water. Police say the possibly dangerous dip into the bay was the woman’s escape attempt from a nearby pursing officer. The crime? Destroying park lights.
OK, fine. You destroy park property and try to kill a kid after that? How unhinged are you, exactly?

I wonder if that has anything to do with the fact cucumbers I have been buying have been going bad quicker more frequently. That's scary. I just tossed a hothouse one, but being in a hothouse does not guarantee a water source. Thanks for posting that, I think I need to start following food recall notices more. Yikes.

I love cucumbers too. We're trying to grow them in our garden again this Summer, but the wonky weather isn't helping the plants to grow. They're still small for this time of the year.

Very damp here the last 5 plus years. Almost all trees here have moss growing on them. I've had very bad luck with celery and cucumbers this year. It feels like no matter where I buy it, it does not help. I started buying expensive packaged celery sticks because it's going bad b4 I use it. I looked the celery issue up once, and apparently there is some sort of celery rot that takes hold and just destroys the celery from the inside to outside.

‘There are gators everywhere!’ Boaters take wrong turn into hundreds of alligators NEAR BAKER COUNTY, Fla. – “Good God almighty!” That is what a pair of boaters screamed when they took a turn right into hundreds of alligators. Marty Welch and a companion were boating in the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, when they suddenly came upon the congregation of gators. On video, which was posted by the wildlife refuge, Welch is heard saying there were alligators everywhere. He estimated that there were more than a hundred gators in the water, and even more on the banks of the creek. Welch’s companion urged him to turn the boat around, but Welch wasn’t deterred and piloted the skiff straight towards the beasts. The Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge sits at the headwaters of the Suwannee and St. Mary’s rivers and is located in both North Florida and South Georgia. Note that this happened in the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. A place that has wildlife refuge in the title. WTF were you thinking could be here? OK, this sort of alligator gang is not normal or common. You are the boater and a guest in their territory. It's their home and you're just living in it. It's not a wrong turn, really. And you were an idiot for just piloting forward. Your little bitty skiff and hundreds of gators? You got lucky to get out of there. To a hungry horde of gators, you look like conveyor belt sushi.

It looks cool, but I'd turn around unless I had a guide who knew the area well. Some people like playing their stupidity cards everywhere they go.

On Wednesday, Aug. 28, Gov. Ron DeSantis distanced himself from a controversial plan to build golf courses at Jonathan Dickinson State Park, which has drawn an outburst of anger and protest from the Palm Beaches to the Treasure Coast.
In his first public comments since outrage exploded over state plans to add golf courses, lodges and pickleball courts to nine state parks, DeSantis deflected the issue, briefly saying it was an attempt to build a "narrative" from the political left.
"A lot of that stuff was just half-baked and it was leaked to a left-wing group to try to create a narrative," said DeSantis from a press conference in Polk County, later referring to it as "obviously a phony narrative" that the state parks were about to become "a big parking lot."
I call bullshit on you, you Tallahassee twerp. You and your political cronies will stop at nothing to pave over the state, fill it with fancy houses and expensive sporting past times. The state parks have one purpose and that is to be there for everyone, not only for those who can afford to go. Jonathan Dickinson is MY park. I bike, run and compete there. And stop screaming about how it's a leftist narrative. Plenty of outcry came from both sides, not just the tree-huggers you hate. This plan has been around since 2011, and you just brought it back to see if you could push it past us, thinking we would notice or care. Oh, we noticed all right. This is prime land and we know why you want it - it faces the Intracoastal and the ocean, so of course your rich friends want it. But the roads cannot handle it. The cost of bringing basic services to all those acres is astronomical.
And to the golfers who love the idea of courses or the pickle ball players who want courts on state park land: get stuffed. Find a public course or court, join a private club or move. What you want is not our problem. You already spend money on your sport, so spend more. Don't expect the the rest of us to kowtow to you. I run and bike and swim, and I don't expect private housing developments or clubs to open their roads or pools to me. I use what's available. You do the same.
Leave our public parks alone.

And more news on the above: in spite of denials, both Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods were involved in course design for the at-the-moment-defeated plan. And of course, the public was gaslighted. Oh, they were doing the designs and were donating their services for the sake of the "charity" called the Tuskegee Dunes Foundation, so that should be such a good thing and the public should love it. But the Dunes has no affiliation with the real Tuskegee Airman Foundation. The Dunes outfit is incorporated in Delaware, which allows as little as 5% of collected funds to be used for actual charity, and 95% can go towards "costs and overhead".
Again, calling bullshit on this. Neither of them got rich doing that. I don't doubt for a second that both of them would have been more than overpaid for their services, even if they did give up their design fees. Tiger Woods was not well-liked here following the divorce, drug issues, blowup with his girlfriend, and the SUV accident, but he was admired. He's a lousy husband but apparently a very good dad. And there is no question as to his legacy as a golfer. People show up in droves if he is even rumored to be playing, or watching his son Charlie play. But this won't help him. He will be seen as a money-hungry island dweller just looking to pad an already substantial fortune. And at his age with his life accolades, Nicklaus should just plain know better.
