Funny thing, apparently a Fitbit only works if you remember to put it on! I do not wear a watch, so this has been a challenge to remember. I haven't done great on the working out part, but I have been doing better on the eating better, adding more fruits and vegetables, and cutting back on the wine intake. Cutting back on wine isn't because it is unhealthy (I mean, red is known for good healthy!), but because I have been getting more migraines. I wasn't sure what was triggering them, so I just have been cutting out a lot of things. Just don't take it off! I keep mine on unless I am showering, and then I charge it in the bathroom, I use a plug that I normally need so I remember to grab it from the charger. Sent from my SM-N920T using proboards

It was super nice yesterday and I was home a bit early. I got a good walk in. I think being outside in fresh air was good for my mental health as well. I got some extra steps in to make up for my other days.

End of week 2, no carbs and sweets. (My vice is 3 dark chocolate hershey kisses when desperate!) Still hanging about 5 lbs. down, still no exercise. DH has lost 7 doing about the same thing.

End of my first week.
Made it to the gym three times Didn't quite meet my 175 flights of stairs goal, I was wearing inappropriate stair-climbing shoes one day Weight 108.0
I'm all ready to start my no/low carb week tomorrow. The hardest thing will be going without my daily can of Mt. Dew. I'm already sad just thinking about it.

Weight still decreasing but slowly. Didn't exercise at all, except for deskbike. Man I love my deskbike. Actually cooking today so should be set for healthier meals for the week. Huge pans of roasted broccoli and spaghetti squash casserole type thing with ground turkey and tomato sauce.

Dew--I never crave it or anything, but there's a can in the fridge that I see at 7-8 p.m., and I want it really bad but I know I'd be awake until 6 am if I drank it. I think it's the caffeine. So hard when you need a boost.

I don't crave (or particularly like the taste of) any other soda, but Mt. Dew? I love it!

Breakfast is hard. I was never a huge egg person and now I'm allergic. I've been trying to ditch the flavored Chobani for overnight oatmeal but it's not going so well.
I ate about half both days. I wasn't starving at lunch time though. And it could also be I haven't been that into eating this week at all. It's been a shitty week and I'm just nibbling.

Well, yesterday and today I've done a pretty good job on the workout front. I can't say the same for food. I need to get better about adding veggies into my diet on weekends.
Good news is that I am off tomorrow so another chance to get a good workout in and we have plans for a balanced dinner, i.e. One that includes veggies.
It it would be so much easier if my DH and I liked the same veggies. Or even felt the same way about eating them. He keeps saying dumb things like, if you just liked mushrooms we could eat veggies at every meal. Umm why can't we have carrots and broccoli and corn and cauliflower and squash at every meal? And PS, putting mushrooms and olives on pepperoni and sausage pizza does not count as getting a serving of veggies, DH!!!!

So I can't even have Greek yogurt anymore. I usually have oatmeal by I honestly don't really like it, and still need protein to go with it since it is so carb heavy. I have been doing hard-boiled eggs the last 2 weeks because it is so easy, but my sinuses are killing me and I am still so bloated. I just have to eat regular foods for breakfast, and not "breakfast foods" it just blows because I heart breakfast. Have you tried a plain Greek yogurt like Fage, with some fruits and toasted oats? That used to be a staple for me. Sent from my Nexus 10

I started a Greek yogurt & banana with my white tea at breakfast, my issue is that I'm not an early morning eater, and have never been one. Tea and toast was my mainstay since grade school.

I could probably tolerate the plain yogurt better that way. And I have a bag of frozen blueberries to use up. Less prep than the overnight oats. I'm okay with oatmeal some days but I like easy for work days.

Just saying hi. I tried to stay with this thread last year, but I obviously failed. I'm my highest weight ever not counting pregnancies. I started taking birth control pills last February to regulate me cycle and help with my facial acne. Between that, launching our third child, and DH having a mildly life-altering accident in late August, I put on ten pounds last year. Most of my clothes are now tight--including my bras. (Sorry, Ratchets, but yes I do think you should post here.) I certainly don't want to buy all new clothes.
A few new tricks I'm hoping will help me be successful this year:- wearing a (generic) fitbit
- not eating after 7pm
- working out in the morning before going to work
- drinking 75 ounces of water each day
My current weight is around 145. I haven't weighed since Wednesday morning. I'm 5'4".

I'm fat. Let's say I could be a linebacker for the Patriots. Anyone who met me last year, I've gained. I work overnight and sleep during the day. I also drink too much and have a tendency to feel guilty about trying to get any type of exercise when DH is stuck sitting on his butt because he is losing mobility. I know I need to lose weight and strengthen my core muscles so I can be able to lug him around when he falls. I just signed up on SparkPeople, hoping to jump start something. I'm tired of being fat and tired. I need to work on that and I am trying to work on the food issues as well as the drinking. Yes, I know it's a lot of empty calories. I had thought about making a goal of getting in shape for the MS Society Muck Fest but not a chance in hell will I be ready by April. I may sign up to volunteer, just to do something, but full-on participation will not be until next year. Right now, I just want to feel better about myself. It's been a long time coming. Now off to charge the computer for the night so I can look up exercise videos tomorrow. ETA: I feel a little better now. I actually weighed myself and I weigh 15 pounds less than I anticipated. I feel better already!

Does anyone know if adding a splash of juice to a glass of water kills the calorie count? I loathe drinking plain water and cannot use any of those zero calorie drink things due to a sensitivity to the artificial sweetener. I also need to dial back a bit on my carbonated seltzer swilling as the belching is getting a bit out of hand.😳 But I hate plain water!!!!!

Not sure about juice in water, maybe there's a nominal amount of calories added. I've taken to adding strips of citrus, berries or cucumber to mask the flavor of the water. I hate plain water as well!

I normally do lemons and limes in my water but I just brushed my teeth and citrus and toothpaste makes me vomit. I don't know why but I can't seem to get into cucumbers in water although they're what, 80℅ water? Don't ask.

I wonder if other things would work to flavor your water? Have you tried putting in a couple tic tacs or a lifesaver (if they even make those anymore)? It wouldn't add many calories, but I'm not sure if it would flavor the water enough. Worth a try maybe?

I don't think a splash of juice could totally wreck it. Has to be better than not getting water or drinking juice alone.

Also, it's true that little changes do good, but bigger changes will always do more. So if you're swapping out water with a splash of juice instead of coke, that's gonna do a fair amount of good. But not drinking or exercising daily will do more. One of the key things is to pick changes you can live with that won't drive you nuts. I've found that i have a very hard time resisting snacks and candy at work when I'm stressed and bored. So I don't. But if I eat a lot at work, I will have a very small dinner (like a cliff bar and plain veggies) to compensate. For me that's easier then not eating baked goods that are in front of me. Don't drive yourself crazy with the little things! Focus on the changes that will have more of an impact and you can let the little things slide right on by!

welcome, empress and chloe I didn't do too badly this weekend, and my weekend is still ongoing since the new parent company gave us MLK day as a holiday. I think we're doing a stir fry tonight for dinner, so that will be healthy. if not, I have grilled chicken to toss into some salad greens. I just got back from a 2.5 mile walk with the pups, they are both passed out in the bay window now. weight this morning was 209 on the nose. I'll take it!
