DS came over to wash his and his girlfriends cars and I walked out and said for him to get me one of these! Perfect timing.

Weekly check in
Was short on steps last week by a little over 3300. I had two days under 10000. Need to get going today or this week will start out poorly.
Did okay on weight. Down a pound.
This weeks goals;
72500 steps. Track water intake. Try to eliminate late night snacks.
Have a great week everyone.

Does anyone know if adding a splash of juice to a glass of water kills the calorie count? I loathe drinking plain water and cannot use any of those zero calorie drink things due to a sensitivity to the artificial sweetener. I also need to dial back a bit on my carbonated seltzer swilling as the belching is getting a bit out of hand.😳 But I hate plain water!!!!! A splash of juice would be minimal calories. If I put lemon or lime in my water, I don't even count it. You can throw in some frozen berries, or cucumber or citrus wedges. What about a flavored green tea? Probably half of my water intake is in the form of pomogranate green tea. Sent from my Nexus 10

Rainy day here in Chicago. These temp swings are killing me. I am curled up with the dog and a blanket reading a book. I have some things I want to get done around the house today and I plan to do yoga. Need to prep food for the week but haven't yet figured out what I will eat.

@empressspunkles - one last thing. I'm not going to hammer you for drinking, but I think one thing that has made more of a difference than anything in my weight loss last year (lost 58lbs so far) has been not drinking. I stopped because I was getting migraines and then when B got sick I didn't feel like drinking any more because I felt like I was always on call. It's not just not getting the calories from the alcohol, it's also that the next day I didn't feel crappy and make bad slight-hangover food choices. If you drink a lot, that is probably the biggest change you can make for your health. I'm at the point now where I can have a couple of drinks out with friends or whatever, but don't have a drink or more every night anymore. It's been a positive change, although if you'd told me before this happened that in the middle of the most stressful situation I've ever been in I would quit drinking, I would have called you a lying liar McLyingface.

I love lemon zinger but right now am working on a box of Chinese black tea. That's going to take a while. Yay me. The booze is a bit of a different story. I drink too much, I am well aware of that fact and I would like to limit it to the nights I don't work. (It's a start for me.) Right now my big plan is to mark my calendar for every night I don't have a glass of wine before going to bed. I didn't used to get hangovers but lately I have been. I also want to clear up my head to move forward in my life. I'll be 44 soon and I am so not impressed with my life.

My over an hour of snow blowing and shoveling snow didn't result in many steps per my fitness tracker...damn you Garmin! So I did finish running a couple of miles on the treadmill.
Now I want chocolate!

I easily lost 30 pounds while still eating it daily. When I regained weight, it wasn't due to chocolate, that is for sure. Sent from my SM-N920T using proboards

I will haunt you from the great beyond if you dare take away my nightly dessert!! I limit myself to one cookie, one SMALL piece of cake/pie/brownies/whatever it is we have on hand, etc. I try not to eat dessert/sweets at work, though that isn't always possible. And there are some nights where a Hershey's kiss is all I have. I figure as long as I'm no overdoing it, it's worth the little bit of sugar to keep me happy. My DH would probably agree with that as well

It isn't difficult to work a snack in to your calorie count for the day, no point in being miserable!

Hmmm........ I am here to report nothing but weight maintenance. Ankle still cranky, and then Thursday I get a call about my great aunt (who my mom, aunt & family friend had been taking care of at home for 6 months & has been declining) was not doing well. She was down to about 4/5 breaths in a minute. She passed away very early Friday morning, so it's been a weekend of lots of family, other people's food and standing on said ankle more than was strictly good for it. The only good news is that I didn't gain a million pounds, but I have absolutely no motivation right now because I'm still a bit brain dead and exhausted.

Maintenance might be my accomplishment for a couple more weeks but it's been my only accomplishment for the past year and I'm going to move past that if it kills me. Nothing bugs me too much now but it will as I age and I'd rather be rid of it sooner than later.

Hi all, I want to join! I have 40lbs of baby weight I really want to lose because I feel (mentally and physically) like crap and I've had enough. Problem is I'm constantly busy, I'm lazy and I boredom-eat a lot, and at the end of a night lately I'm just too tired to either cook or bother to find something healthy to eat, so I either don't eat or I munch on popcorn or goldfish or cookies. so I need to get back on track in a huge way. I got a fitbit for Christmas and I'm enjoying seeing my step counts daily, it helps me remember to get up and take a little walk around if I'm not out during the day. I won't come close to 10k most days but I'm leaving that as my daily goal for now, it's something to try to work up to (depending on how work is daily, sometimes I'm in the office a lot and sometimes I'm out most of the day). A coworker just started Weight Watchers for 3 months and I think I may try it out and join her, for the sole reason that having a points limit per day and knowing what foods are what points I feel would be an easy way for me to try controlling what I'm eating. The less I have to think about the food end of it the better - I can try to plan my food shopping accordingly and go from there. Anyone have any experiences (good or bad) with WW? I'd like to start doing some workout routines and yoga at home when I can, probably evenings. Had a few apps recommended to me so I'll play around and find something I like, and I know there's lots on youtube. I mean, I could write myself a list of exercises and reps and stick to it, but I"ll look for some guidance and ideas. I wish I had the time/money/awakeness for boot camp - I am going to try the Baby boot camp in my city some Saturday when I have the time but I probably won't be able to do it regularly. Haven't weighed myself in about a month, so I should do it tonight... last I checked I was about 189. I was 150 when I got pregnant which was still 10lbs up from where I'd like to be, but seriously anything I can lose now is going to make me feel better, so off to the races I go.

Cael! I think stressing about losing weight makes shredding the pounds more difficult. Are you sure that your thyroid is working correctly? My weight problems developed after DS was born and I gained weight every single week until the doctor ordered more blood work that showed I had Hashimoto's Disease. After he put me on medication, I slowly lost the weight.

After he put me on medication, I slowly lost the weight. I actually haven't had a physical in two years now (didn't go last year because I was pregnant) so I have to set that up - I think they do blood testing that includes thyroid function, they have in the past for me. I think the last time I had the thyroid test it was fall 2014 maybe? I developed a new patch of vitiligo and they tested it then. I have a friend who developed thyroid issues after having her daughter too, so I should look into that!

You can participate with WW online. I tried that some years ago when I was on it at a former job and the site was a bit of a pain in the ass. I would hope it has gotten better especially since they keep revamping the plans and they have Oprah shilling for them. I did well enough on it but my leader was too perky and she whistled when she talked. Hurt the hearing aid listening to her. cael: if you want, we can arrange some time to walk together somewhere. You know where I am and I know there are trails and stuff where you are. Or we could just go to the mall. I believe they have decent mall-walkers program. Beverly would be good to walk in the summer. Now, no. Just no. So, the Empress got up about 1:30 and after a cup of coffee, decided to try a workout video. Yeah, I need to find something simple. Crunch Cardio Dance fitness thing tried to kill me. Wound up doing a cardio boot camp video on SparkPeople which also tried to kill me. Plus sides: 1 sparkly sticker on the calendar for no wine when I came home. Debating whether to give myself one for every 8 oz. of water I drink. My usual cup holds 2 cups ad my favorite wine glass holds 1-3/4 cups (not including the splash of juice). I feel like I should be floating. I've already hit 6 cups of water and haven't even eaten yet.

Leslie Sansone is simple, she's a walk at home video chick. She has some stuff on You Tube, but if it looks old, skip it. The old ones suck. (you can also get her DVD's at Walmart and junk)

I remember her. Woman's Day and Family Circle use her as a go-to guru for simple plans. I will probably start walking, just not outside this week as it's supposed to crap all forms of precipitation on us for 2 days. I'll stomp around on DH's head upstairs. Sorry about your grandmother, CL. Have some chocolate and aerated red wine.

I seriously just watched this guy shove a snickers into his face on the way into the gym. And I didn't say a word. Self control accomplished! And it only took 38 years.
