Is that yoga with Adriene? I did 2 of those back to back last year. Thinking about starting this year's, but may be going along a few days later. (Last year a was a few months late, so I figure its okay to lag behind.) My tummy is not happy tonight. Is this an online yoga program? If so, do you have a link? revolution.yogawithadriene.com/

Last year, there were 2 year's worth on YouTube.

Well, I am going to try and make it to the gym tomorrow so we will see how many pounds I am. Besides that I am eating raw green beans as my get home from work snack.

I finally weighed. I figured it would be easier to track my 2017 progress. I'm at 177, goal will be to come in around 150. I think it's pretty realistic. I also don't want to be skinny. Curvy is just fine by me. Zumba was crowded, but not terrible. We'll see what tonight looks like.

OK. So let's talk shoes. I want to look at some shoes that will work for walking as well as going to Zumba if I should wear them there. I looked at running shoes, but I'm not a runner. I was thinking about trying to run and see if I ended up a wheezing mess on the side of the road. Problem is, my feet are a bit flat and I find that the arch support on running shoes tend to bother my feet. Would training shoes be better? If I find that I can run, will they work as running shoes? I don't expect that I'll find out that I'm now a runner and will run for miles, but it would be nice not to have to buy another pair of shoes if that were to be the case. I'm also worried about lack of shock absorption with training shoes. I don't want aching joints. Suggestions?

I would spend the money at a running store the first time. Then you'll know what works for your feet and can buy online or in other stores for cheaper.

I wouldn't do running shoes for zumba. Running shoes are designed to move straight forward. Zumba, you need to go every which way.

I have dance shoes for Zumba. I figured running shoes would be bad. I guess my question is if training shoes can be used for Zumba as well as running and/or other exercises. That way if I was going to so something in addition to Zumba that day, could I just wear the training shoes instead of carrying another pair of shoes with me. This is what I have for Zumba:

ETA: I don't feel like these shoes are conducive to other exercise, hence the question.

so I hopped on the scale this am - 210.4. I can live with that as a starting point. I am going to look for my measuring tape tomorrow morning, and get some numbers there, too. arms, band size, waist, thighs. this morning, pups and I went for a long walk, probably an hour or so. that is not very cardio-heavy as it's a walk, but it does involve me doing some isometrics and bicep curls to a resistance of about 150lbs with both leashes in the same hand.

I'm feeling kind of ambivalent about joining in, I tend to start well and then just peter out. Not sure I want to do that publicly and publicly outing myself isn't prone to motivate me either. Lol I guess I'm in for now.

Love those! Sorry I didn't understand your question. I think training shoes would be fine. You just don't want anything too sticky for when you want to slide your foot.

Yeah. I was also worried about the higher arches that running shoes have and my arches. What do you think of these? I think they're totally cute and could work for everything. My sister got me boxing gloves from this store because I was going to add boxing in as another exercise class. I then realized that I am not near as motivated to do boxing as I should be and was going to turn the boxing gloves into shoes and just pay any difference.

Cute, and I think they could work. You might have to get the soles a little dirty at first so they slide. I just used my regular tennis shoes or whatever I had at the time when I took a Zumba class.

Well, at least outing yourself publicly is really anonymously here.

You guys know more about me than half the people I actually know. I am not a gym goer kind of person so I'm trying to do some working out at home. My start off goal is 15 minutes a day for at least 4 days a week. I've done 2 days already this week.

I'd never set foot inside a gym before I joined the one I go to now. That was 6 months ago. Just find something you like and ease into it. Before long you'll be a total gym rat.

Even if I was willing to consider, there's no cash to give them anyway. So, I figure out the free stuff or I don't do it, you know?

I lagged at the end of the year. Between DD's illness, recovery and my mental processing of the whole event I didn't have a lot of energy to go around. I'm at 181 as of this morning (up a couple lbs from our big trip to Hawaii over holidays.) Good it's only a couple lbs, we were pretty active and that canceled out a lot of the eating.
My goal this year is to increase activity. Starting slow - 1x/week workout. We will see if I can get there.

That's why i like the apps, you pick which excercises to do and how many reps etc.

I don't like the happy shiny encouraging people, they make me want to throw things at the tv.

I have been cutting out carbs. Since New Years Day, no breads, no sweets, just protein, veggies and fruit. My weakness is baked goods of any kind, and in my office of 35 people, there is always something in the lunch room: donuts, pastries, someone's birthday cake, cookies, you name it. Very difficult to stay away from all of that, but after 3 days, I have. Have also been drinking tons of water. DH has been on board as well. We weighed in on Sunday and will only weigh once a week. Eating lots of 'skinny' popcorn, which is delicious.
When I got married 36 years ago I weighed 120 lbs, now after 3 kiddos and 36 years......I weighed 166 on Sunday, my highest ever (non-pregnant weight).

I've been doing my planks and crunches everyday. I've been alternating arm/leg exercises, but probably not doing as many as I should. But it's more than I did pre 1/1/17.

Checked the fitbit after zumba. 4208 steps, 1.75 miles, and 1447 calories burned. Woot!

You know, I got a cheapie Garmin vivofit for Christmas, and I wonder about it. It doesn't seem to work like the fitbits at all, as I can move my arms all over the place and nothing registers. That part is a good thing, until I do an exercise video. It registers some steps--in spurts. Eh, anyway, I wanted it for the watch part mostly, but it does make it interesting.
