Welcome to the 2017 edition of Let's Get Fit! I was last weighed in November at 54.6 kgs which is 120.37 lbs. I'll get another weigh in on January 10th, 2017. That will be my starting point. For me personally 2017 is my year to get really into the plank exercise, cause I seen how much that little bit I done in 2016 helped me.
Good Luck Everyone!

I am hoping to get serious about my eating and physical fitness this year. I always start out good and then life takes over and fitness is put to the side. I want to lose all the flab I have acquired over the past 20 years. I weigh 147 pounds and the number doesn't bother me. What bothers me is the flab hanging over my pants.

I'm in! I'm usually pretty good with eating healthy, but the holidays killed me. My goal is to up my exercise. I walk about 30 mins 6 days a week, but haven't been steady with any other type of exercise. I'm 57, and really need to tone up.

I need to ask, is it ok for men to post on the thread too or would that be a "forum faux pas?" Would like to join the thread but I don't want to step on any toes if it's meant to be more for women only. My ultimate goal is to run a half marathon this year but I'm pretty far away from that. I'm sure the weight loss will happen naturally which I also want to do, but don't have a set number. I was at 206 for the only half marathon I've done that I felt good about. I felt pretty healthy at that weight range too, so that would work. Jan 1 weight - 265 It's not my thread, but I think anyone is welcome who is wanting to get fitter. Good luck with your half marathon! I've toyed with the idea of working towards a complete marathon, but that seems pretty unrealistic at the moment.

Well I want to lose 20 lbs, so I will check in here for tips. As a 56 yr. old, it gets harder and harder to lose it.

Jaguar How long do you hold your plank? I also saw good results last year, so I'll do that again too. I hold for one minute.

I start at two to three minutes and increase that by a minute each week or less. Basically it's music that I'm listening to, I hold the plank for a song.

Because I haven't done the plank exercise since summertime, I'm starting back at 30 seconds and building it up by weekly by 30 seconds. I think that's doable for a start. I can get back to holding the plank for songs down the road.

Last year was not good as far as weight. Instead of losing weight I gained.
My year goal is to lose 20 pounds. Get 3.5 million steps.
First thing I need to do is stop the gain.
This weeks step goal is 70000.
Starting weight 177.2
Well time to get in some steps before work.

I am in! I need to lose about 15 pounds. I got a FitBit for Christmas, so that should help me keep track of some exercise.

Hey all. I am here. My goal is to do a Mud Run this summer. I don't know my current weight and I don't have a scale. But I will weigh myself once I get to the gym they have one. Today's goal is to pull out clothes to wear tomorrow to the gym. Over all my goal is to get healthier, more stamina, and to be able to get stronger. We will see what happens with the weight. If anyone knows any short cuts that are cheap I am all in.

Okay I done another session of plank exercise and this was 40 seconds and much easier to do. I'm definitely back in.

I'm in. I kinda petered out on the thread last year, but I feel like it was a very successful year for my health. These last couple of weeks saw me gain nearly 3 lbs. Starting point will be 153.6. I'll fill in the rest of the stats later. I'm not quite ready to do the full-on diet change/calorie tracking that caused my weight loss, but I've been ramping the workouts back up a bit lately. I have some other more pressing goals to work on this year, so will only try to lose 15 to start with. I will be ecstatic to accomplish that much, I think.

I went to the gym this morning....along with EVERY.SINGLE.OTHER.PERSON in my city. In the 90 minutes I was there, I saw probably 30 people sign up (and I didn't spend all 90 minutes in a spot to see the front desk). It was amazing. I even ended up skipping the free weights b/c so many people were in that area of the gym.
My goal for this year is to average 80,000 steps a week and maintain my weight. And not stress eat due to my new job.

I am back in it! The past few months have been horrible. I was up about 5 lbs from last winter. But since October I got sick while in Europe, was sick for 3 weeks and are too much soup and bread, then Trump won and I stress ate dairy and bread like crazy, then I got bronchitis (probably because of all the bread and dairy) at Thanksgiving, another 3 weeks of being sick, no able to workout and eating too much bread. So by Xmas, I was up 12 pounds from October. So, I have cut out gluten, dairy and eggs again and my allergies are feeling under control again and hopefully the pounds will start to go away! I am doing the epicurious cook90 challenge and a 31 day yoga challenge. Trying to get my steps in, which is so difficult in the winter, but I am determined! My office is moving to Sears tower in March, and they just put in an enormous 30,000 sq. ft gym for Tennants, so when we move, I will join w\ some co-workers.

Is that yoga with Adriene? I did 2 of those back to back last year. Thinking about starting this year's, but may be going along a few days later. (Last year a was a few months late, so I figure its okay to lag behind.) My tummy is not happy tonight.

Epicurious cook90? please elaborate! I'm in for this year. last year was just blah, all around, because I let it get to me. I'm looking forward to being a bitch for a change and walking away from situations I didn't create. stressing about everyone else not only hasn't gotten me ahead of the game, but has actually set me backwards. so I'm done! this year, I'm changing my work hours to a 2nd shift schedule. tomorrow, I'm working a day shift, but will be switching on Wednesday. I already know that will cut down on my nightly wine and snacks, since I will still be at the office and not on my couch. I also already know that having daylight hours free before heading in means that the pups and I will be taking walks in the mornings most days. I'm aiming for any day that isn't raining. what both of those variables are going to do to my metabolism on their own needs to be teased out. at this point, I'm not planning on any other organized form of exercise until I get used to my new hours and all that. I also had taken the year off from hockey, and may pick up some games here and there as the months go on. oh, and with the unnecessary stress in my life the past couple weeks, and being ridiculously sick, I've managed to lose 5lbs without actually trying. and that's saying a lot for the extra alcohol calories that came with the stupidly stressful evenings. yeah, I definitely just admitted that. so there's a lot going on here. will take some numbers in the next day or so. I'm about to shut the laptop down for the night.

Supposed to do 80 burpees tonight. Nope, nope, nope! Way too many for me at this point. I managed 50 and subbed 30 squats for the remaining 30.

I done another 40 seconds of plank and now I'm holding in my gut so I'm using stomach muscles now. This is a new thing for me, sucking in and holding the gut while I do planks.

Yup! I listened to a podcast quite a while ago when he did it the first time and was intrigued, so I am giving it a go this month. I do usually cook at home and bring my lunch the majority of the time. So I don't think it will be too hard, but also I am working in new recipes. Sent from my SM-N920T using proboards

Tonight is my first Zumba class in 2017. It'll be interesting to see how crowded it is with the resolution people.
