I'm not sure about the Garmin but on FitBit you can adjust the sensitivity and tell it which arm you wear it on, dominant or non dominant. My co-worker's wife swore her tracker was defective. Turns out she walks a little weird with her arms tucked in at her sides.

Of course I forgot the fitbit at home today. I took it off when I got home from the gym because there was sweat underneath it. I never wear a watch, so I didn't even think about it this morning. I was too busy worrying about shoveling snow to get to work.

I was lazy last night but I'll get in another 15 tonight. I've also got my water intake back up to around my usual, I'd been slacking over the holidays.

I did absolutely no exercise this past week, but lost 5 lbs by cutting out all bread and sweets. We will see how this progresses.

holding steady at 210.x, but feeling less puffy. that's gotta be the nonexistent evening wine. woot! too bad it's a blizzard warning where I am today, and I'm staying in until it's all over. I picked up a box of wine while I was out buying fixins for soup, that should last us all the weekend.

Hi all,
I don't post often but lurk most days. I joined this thread last year and did really well for about four months. Then I broke my foot, the gym was too hot, I was too busy, blah blah, excuses excuses, and I petered out.
So I'm starting again. My weight is fine, but I'm out of shape. I want to gain muscle. On another thread I saw a poster talking about no-carb dieting, and I've decided to try it. Carbs are my downfall, especially in the evenings, and I think they're partially to blame for my feeling puffy and blah and sluggish. It'll take some planning, so I'll start that next week. My goal right now is just to try it for a week and see how I feel.
Starting point: Height: 5'3.5" Weight 108.8 this morning
Goals: Gym three days a week (four would be better, but let's not go overboard here!) 35 flight of stairs per day at work Limit the crap carbs to ?? even after I go off my no-carb week (I need a set number here, but I'm not sure on what that should be yet)
I'm hoping if I force myself to post here regularly, it'll motivate me to actually follow through until it becomes habit.

I've been off/out of work for the last 3 weeks (in between jobs). So I've been lucky, in that I could go to the gym each and every day. And yet, that didn't exactly happen. Anyway, DH and I convinced each other to skip today since it's my last day off before I start my new job. And DH is currently at the grocery store getting the fixings for all of my guilty pleasure foods (pizza and dessert and wine). Hopefully, I'll be so busy this week at work, I won't snack too much. I'm not sure I'll get to the gym much (usually I'm a "go before work" gym goer) and I know that typically I'm tired/stressed/not up to the gym my first week on a job. So here's to hoping I can at least find ways to keep my total steps for the week over 70,000!

Has anyone tried Shaun T's Hip Hop Abs? It looks fun. I may try it.

I did a big, fat nothing yesterday. Sat on my butt and played with my new iPad all day. Trying to make up for it today. Just finished running 4 miles and will try to make it through yesterday and today's exercise routine. Minus the burpees. Those continue to be the bane of my physical existence. I'll substitute squats or jumping jacks instead.

I will say I've gone through some of his other routines and while they're all tough, he's one of the very few instructors of that type that I've come across that I don't want to beat the snot out of. He's much less annoying to me than most of the others.

I ate and drank all of the things this weekend. damn snow, keeping me in the house. I actually felt markedly off earlier today from all the sugar I'd consumed (which really wasn't all that much, but I don't eat or drink much sugar in general). I rang in this morning at 209, but fully expect that number to go up as this weekend settles itself out. that's fine. I won't be repeating this weekend any time soon, just based on how I've felt today.

Weekly Check in
Hit step goal. Weight not in the correct direction but only up by .2. Considering all the stress this week brought not bad. This is looking like another stressful week at work.
This weeks goal:
72500 Steps Track water intake with hope of increasing water intake. Avoid stress eating.
Have a great week everyone.

I've done well at eliminating dairy and gluten. but have been eating eggs still... and i stepped on the scale and gained! ARGH! i did yoga twice last week and weights once. I think I only did 10k+ steps once.
I need to reign in my portions. still doing stress eating. too much chocolate down the hatch. Working to get back in the routine of getting my steps in and working on my core.
Goals- 10K plus steps- 5x weights- 2x yoga or core work- 2x

Still haven't managed to actually work out, but increasing my desk-biking back up to where it was slowly. That will have to do for now. 60 min goal today.

I really don't feel like going to Zumba tonight. Especially with all the resolution people. Aunt Flo came and I'd rather just stay home and drown my sorrows in vodka and chocolate.

So....... I did nothing Thursday or Friday and on Saturday I twisted my ankle in my aunt's yard so I'm keeping it elevated and iced. So much for getting some exercise in this weekend.

If you really want to keep at it, you could probably still do a pilates mat workout. Much of it is done lying on your ass on the floor.

I've found very few that didn't tick off my back. I do keep trying and still can't figure out how on earth I can possibly be making it mad no matter how I situate myself. Maybe I'll at least do some arm/dumbell stuff because it's still mad at me. Or find some chair/desk things that might work. I'll have to search for something.

Now that I'm old-ish 😉, I find that I have to sit on a small pillow for my back's sake. The emphasis on strengthening your core in Pilates can help with your back, but of course, you don't want to hurt it in the process.

Sitting is good for a while but getting up and down off the floor with the ankle might be tricky. Laying is what really irritates my back.

The travel/period bloat is gone and I'm back to where I was pre-hawaii, so looks like I didn't actually gain on vacation. Hurray!
Now I just need to get back moving in the right direction. And, you know, moving in general.

My only accomplishments this week are eating dinner at home, getting my step count back up and increasing the water intake. I would love to go for the vodka and chocolate route the last couple days because life just blows.

I'm down whenever you are. Friends don't let friends drink vodka and eat chocolate alone.

Steps done today as well as yoga. Was short on steps yesterday due to a wretched headache and rough chiro appointment. But have gone over 10k enough to make up the difference.

Funny thing, apparently a Fitbit only works if you remember to put it on! I do not wear a watch, so this has been a challenge to remember. I haven't done great on the working out part, but I have been doing better on the eating better, adding more fruits and vegetables, and cutting back on the wine intake. Cutting back on wine isn't because it is unhealthy (I mean, red is known for good healthy!), but because I have been getting more migraines. I wasn't sure what was triggering them, so I just have been cutting out a lot of things.
