I think my mom always told me I was pretty but like others, I didn't believe her. And while I was unpacking my stuff I found some pictures from elementary and middle school that were....unfortunate. Glasses, braces, acne, and 90s clothing.... just no.

My mom always told me the same thing and I look back at pictures and laugh....but my mom truly believed it just like I do about my kids. Don't care what anyone else thinks. To me they are beautiful, both inside and out.

Yes, your son is beautiful. Like model good looking.
I think my kids are cute, but realize they will not win beauty contests.
Your kids are cute and always look so happy. That's what I really notice about your kids. And idk how the heck my kiddo got so cute - neither of us are even remotely close to being model material, lol! My sister always says that mixed kids are the cutest.

My son is gorgeous... Well certain pictures of him aren't super flattering, but he is way cuter than average. Especially was as a baby. And I've had other people tell me that as well, so it's not just Mommy Goggles! Yeah, lots of people on my facebook feed comment on those same unfortunate-looking children and say "OMG he/she is so handsome/beautiful!" So, maybe, maybe not. (I'm not saying your kid isn't cute, but the social pressure to affirm that belief in parents is high, and the downside is low. Except allowing parents to remain deluded.)

I actually don't lie. If I think a kid is beautiful or stunning I will say so on the picture. If I don't, I just say things like "great picture" or "aww, so cute"

No no, I get what you're saying. There are kids on my feed who are just beautiful, and others who are just not quite as beautiful as others seem to think they are. I mostly just "like" baby and kid pictures anyway. Even the least attractive baby is still cute. I have yet to see an ugly baby.

No, hickle. I would not respond one way or the other. It takes more than a picture for me to determine someone's attractiveness. The most outwardly handsome man in the world can be ugly when his insides don't match his outsides. I couldn't tell from a picture. I'm guessing I just wouldn't respond to a request like that, but I'm sure I would never tell someone they were ugly. Several posters here have said other children are unattractive. It is just a fact of life that people are judged on looks. What is wrong with knowing the truth. If a person is ugly they can change.

There is one person on my FB feeds who has posted pics of her teen daughter multiple times and noting how beautiful she is. All I can think is, "um, no, she's got your squinty eyes and her dad's big nose."
Aww, but to her mom she is beautiful! I'm sure she is. As far as I can tell, her mom also thinks this kid poops rainbows, lol.
They kid is not ugly, but I'm not sure it's appropriate to put pics of your 18 year old on FB and say "Isn't she beautiful?" when the kid is pretty average looking.

Yes...well...certain posters need to grow up a bit and realize that children are all beautiful....until the adults get ahold of them and make them think they are not. I see pics of my friends' children and they are all beautiful...beautiful warm smiles or an exceptionally sunny outlook or a personality that just drags you in. "Ugly" is inside, hickle. Unfortunately, that can't be fixed.

Hmm...I guess I'm not appropriate and for all I know you are directing this at me. Because I'm sure I have shared pictures and said something along the lines of "my beautiful girl". Didn't know it was a crime to call your kids beautiful...

Looks matter in getting unemployment, one night stands, tips at work etc. Maybe it shouldnt, but it does.

Gwen went thru a stage where she had horrid baby acne. I forgot how bad it was until I found a picture of her at that age recently. I am surprised people didn't think she had some sort of disease. Nothing you can do about it but let it clear up on it's own, which it eventually did.

How do looks matter when it comes to getting unemployment? I filed online and however much I got was calculated with an algorithm based on how many years I'd been employed in the state of Nebraska vs how many times I've taken unemployment in recent history.

I mean, how would you look after being forced out of a tight space?! I had to unfollow someone because she would post multiple pictures of her daughter, who has the misfortune of looking like her father. But I'm not rude enough to say anything to someone. I keep that shit to myself or post about it anonymously here. :-)

Oh yeah, DS had the baby acne too and was going a little baldish.... Yeah, he was still my little cute wiggly worm but that was definitely not the height of his cuteness, lol!

But to her mom she is
I had a co-worker with a daughter you would have thought was a super model the way she talked about her (not just her looks, she was just super proud of her daughter in general). When I finally saw a picture of the girl I was taken aback. She might have been pretty if she didn't have such unflattering hair, really bad taste in clothes and refused to wear make-up (she honestly came across more manly/jock than anything else to me). But to her mom, she was beautiful!. Granted, if it were me I probably would have been like "let's have a fun day getting a makeover"....lol But I honestly loved that her mom saw beauty in her when a casual observer wouldn't call her beautiful.

His 3 year old is honestly a beautiful little girl but holy shit, he posts no less than 5-10 pictures of her a day! OMG! It is sweet that she is his little princess but the guy clearly needs a life. He asked me out not long after I got divorced and I said no...either he is the type to be obsessed (hence the constant adoration of his daughter) or else he would be too busy focusing on the daughter to even notice a woman..either way, no thanks!
