We saw the "Wolf of Wall Street" today. Stars Leonardo DiCaprio
Host of small parts and cameos for other stars. My wife was shocked, felt it overly vulgar, obscene. It was what I pretty much expected. Sex drugs booze, brokerage shenigans. I think DiCaprio might get an Oscar for the performance, as it was a strong one Long movie -3 hours, but kept a fast pace.
Reminded me of his movie Catch me if you can, only on uppers.

Do not bother with 47 Ronin... Total suck fest. The dialogue was painful. Any good effects can be viewed in the preview...

from all that I hear, Keanu is a really nice guy - but he cannot act his way out of a box. I really don't know WHY he is so popular.
DH & I were going to see a movie when we were both off work during December. There wasn't a single thing playing that we felt was worth paying to see. We only go to the theater for something with really good special effects; anything else can wait for Netflix or cable.

Looking forward to this one. Saw it on stage (road company) and loved it. Oddly enough, though, my teen and twenty-something daughters are the ones that bought the CD for their cars.

47 Ronin - 2013 Keanu Reeves Watched at home and scored as 'liked it' on my Netflix account. However for movie theater watching - I am glad I watched at home. my opinion to see a movie in theaters - the movie has to keep my attention. which the best way to do that is show me the action! LOL 47 Ronin does have action fight and chase scenes! Then throw in the forbidden love story that is not suppose to happen. Then throw in the shape changer from wolf to human. Then throw in the corruption, with back stabbing, and framing fight for top ultimate power! and I learned about another culture. Hmmm.....think I'll change my score from 'liked it' 3 stars to 'really liked it' 4 stars (top score is 5 stars - loved it)

NEED FOR SPEED - 2014 Aaron Paul well for one I can't just can't believe how well the movie was close to the game series. I think that is incredible. there are so many scenes that would happen in the game and they did it in the movie. For example the very first race. New York city at some probably 1 in the morning. the race goes down absolutely NO traffic or police - LOL - cutting through alleyways, short cuts, and all racing from slightly modified cars. It's at the end of the game when you get the highly modified car. also just like the game we get the 'helper' to win races. also the story I really got into. all the games I have played I just wanted to win, beat the game. the bad guy we have to beat at the end of the game I'm just ok I have to beat this guy and I'm done! But the movie bad guy Deno! yea couldn't stand his bad ass! LOL - really didn't like him! saw this movie twice in theaters - 2 complaints: I'm not really into skinny chicks - so when they have this skinny chick as main character I noticed that, but in the game(s) LOL there are NOOOOO skinny chicks! LOL second - it really is actually an hour long movie! there is absolutely no reason to put THAT much story into it! once the movie comes in (I pre ordered on blu ray) I will fast forward on a LOT of story!

Sinister - 2012 Ethan Hawke
I've been all through this thread, every post 4 to 5 times! Can not find the member that recommended this movie. I'm guessing the suggestion is in the movie section but posted elsewhere?
Creepy with suspense! Great combination for a horror. as ghost horrors go, yea it's slow, so things get to jump out to get your attention back! LOL I must say since I was surprised at the ending or I was surprised regarding how this movie Sinister ended....it's a surprise ending! I didn't expect that to happen. Not a slasher, gore movie - so you're good on that part. I like gore. Also maybe because this movie was recommended and I never heard of it. I was 1 surprised to see Ethan Hawke! then there are two other actors I recognized! recommended horror - yes.

The Purge - 2013 Ethan Hawke
Ehh I marked rating of didn't like it on my Netflix account! it was the kids! they ruined to movie for me. but then again if it wasn't for the kids being impossible there wouldn't be a movie! They were the entire FN problem come to think about it! and Daddy gets killed and it's the kids fault and all the daughter can do or say is I'm Sorry dad! geez what the hell!! LOL and that's not a spoiler that dad gets killed. The movie is about for only 12 hours out of the year. People can let their rage and hatred out and commit violent crimes. which makes a pretty awkward situation if you TRY and kill your neighbor(s) and don't succeed! LOL
now I'm waiting for the remake The Purge: Anarchy

Lone Survivor - 2013 Mark Wahlberg this movie was ok to see or I was not disappointed. I so love to hear gun shots through a good quality sound system. War movies or military drama movies are usually sad. Then to add such movies that are based on true events, makes the movie sad. Then worse to make the movie sadder is they show the real life guys! However there is a lot of death and enough action to match to keep my attention. Unfortunately I think wrong decisions were made and if they would have just done their job, there would have been a lot more lives saved. And they could have done their jobs without killing and taking hostages, since that was such a problem! Can these military movies have a happy ending? not sure? guess that would depend on the viewer. Funny I can only think of one military move that has a good ending - Strips 1981 with Bill Murray

The Other Woman - 2014 Cameron Diaz
after discovering her boyfriend is married, unlikely friendships are developed with his wife and second chick on the side. The 3 women seek to get payback for his cheating ways. I was good watching this movie all the way to the end which kinda was a bad ending. so it lost a point for bad ending. The wife is a mess! she was on my nerves a lot as that crazy lost her shit, don't want to encounter with chick. the wife is just so stupid, what would she expect that her husband wouldn't cheat? I do like this movie and could have watched in theaters, the interest is there.

Bad Words - 2013 Jason Bateman
Finally a different type of movie I enjoyed very much! About a guy in his 40's entering and winning the spelling bee competitions, through a loophole within the rules. it's so funny at times how far he is willing to take this competition. Towards the end of the movie it's revealed why he takes this spelling competition so seriously. During the movie he uses adult mind games on his children competitors, which is just so wrong to do! but it was funny! but when the tables are turned and a kid mind game him, he didn't like that very much and seeks revenge. Also the way he uses 'Bad Words' talking to these kids, is funny it's self; because you just don't or not supposed to talk to kids that way. Example of this is in the movie Bad Santa.

Godzilla - 2014 Aaron Taylor here is was for all these years laughing! just laughing that my parents had to go to the movies and pay money to see Godzilla! during a time when I was a kid watching these cheap ass made Godzilla movies on free TV on Saturday afternoon!! This is why I said movie makers need to come up with new ideas like the movie Bad Words. Then I realized I saw the previous Godzilla with Matthew Broadwick! (which was horrible by the way). However this Godzilla 2014 movie with a main leading man I never saw or heard of before was ok to watch. Hellz no I didn't see in theater, all on Netflix, which is still paying to watch a Godzilla movie. There is a LOT is explaining during the beginning. and there is a LOT of explaining during the middle! Action at the end of this one. Military! got on my nerves. They always know they are right and never wrong! the things they were saying was just laughable! while being said with a straight face! Hey military these monsters eat nukes! These monsters feed off nukes and get stronger! so why the fuck would they think using the biggest nuke the USA has will kill the monsters? I was sitting watching like WHAT? seriously! the military was thinking ok Nukes didn't work the first time. so we're gonna use BIGGER nukes! that makes the first ones look like fire crackers! Stupid! HAA HAA!!! The other annoying part was how the military and police were screaming we have to get these kids off the bridge! we have to get these citizens off the bridge! Well if you move these police cars and police barricades out the way!! traffic will flow!

Sex Tape - 2014 Cameron Diaz
I think male critics and just men alone was expecting to see Cameron Diaz having sex; sex like in these celebrity leaked sex tapes. NOOOO not gonna happen guys, please spare me! LOL yes the movie is rated R - however it is still a comedy with profanity. Enough side boob action that I did like. but NO sex scene, or anything close to a real sex scene. seeing ass doesn't do anything for me however her ass is shown. well so is his Jason Segel - but like in the movie quote no body cares about the guy in a sex tape. LOL the movie kinda insults my generation knowledge of technology. I did find it funny that this 13 / 14 year old kid was attempting to blackmail them for 25 thousand! laughing now cause what does a 13/ 14 year old kid want with $25k!!? you'll have to see it for the answer! but this I feel insult makes it a bit difficult to continue to laugh at their attempts to get their sex tape back. I will join the rest or I will join the majority of people that have seen this movie with didn't like it or wouldn't recommend seeing.

Mission Impossible - Rouge Nation - 2015 Tom Cruise
Hellz Yea, Hellz YEA and can I get a Hellz Yea LOL It is so wonderful, comforting, exciting, and spectacular to see a movie franchise get better and better than the previous. Mission Impossible - Rouge Nation is better than Mission Ghost Protocol! WOW The chase scene starting with the BMW, then smoothly adds motorcycles to the chase! Absolutely wonderful. I am unable to think of other movies that have motorcycle chase scenes with so much action, and intensity. I want a sports motorcycle so bad now! LOL The story line, plot with a twist! Great! Tom Cruise of course nailed his character again and again, with intensity, and is in believable shape with a youthful look. So if ya didn't know or can't tell or confused...Netflix rating 5 star Loved It!!

Maleficent - 2014 Angelina Jolie
I can see how some watchers may have tears during some scenes. Boy meets girl and they fall in love at a young age. Boy then leaves girl behind and finds new love! While girl only loves him. Then he not only finds a new love and marries her. They have a child together. He then wants to make career advance for himself, but in order to do that. He has to cause harm to her. Who he has not seen or contacted in years! When he shows up. Of course she is overwhelmed with happiness and welcomes him into her heart wholeheartedly. Then this azz-hat not only breaks her heart for his selfishness. but leaves her disfigured. Now heartbroken and disfigured. she still loves him. I think with all the drama and trouble he caused her. She still loved him all throughout the movie to the end? A womans love is just amazing, and how a dumb-azz man can screw it all up. I've watched this movie 3 to 5 times. three times from start to end. Another two times when I saw it was on cable, stopped whatever I was doing. to watch from where it was at to the end. The ending is right, but tragic, sad, but still right. I see it as a love story, drama. total 5 star recommended to watch.

Need For Speed - 2014 Aaron Paul
Simply said - hellz yea! loved it! LOL {yea what a shocker - right?} I mean it could have been bad? maybe? I only recognized two of the main characters. with Michael Keaton being one of the main characters. The movie kept to the script or story line of the Need For Speed video games. Which was very happy and grateful for. Just like the video game we start off with a super nice car, race, win, and then tragedy happens. Then we start from scratch and have to build our next project car, get upgrades, and final with an exotic car! WONDERFUL. The bad guy or some games the bad or rival crew will pull tricks to win races. The movie does the same. the bad guy does a great job playing his part. I purchased the blu-ray for home collection, and still watch a few times a year. I do recommend this movie to watch. but I really enjoyed playing the games and I really liked the movie, so if you are one that does even know about the games, and not into cars at all. I may be a bit biased? LOL

Alien: Covenant - 2017 Michael Fassbender I am so very unable to describe the negative zero of disappointment I feel towards this horrible movie! I am current on all the Alien and Predator franchise movie series! it is to my surprise I have such a deep dislike towards this movie? shocking. all the Alien movies have been great to good to excellent to great exciting and thrilling, edge of your seat! then add the cross overs of Alien and Predator movies. but this crap Alien: Covenant! the reason I find this movie so bad is because the crew didn't follow protocol, polices, and their training! all that shit went right out the window! as if there were no training at all. I mean, it was absolutely F-ing stupid. had they followed their training, and procedures. especially their training. this would have been an entirely different movie! for example: the remaining captain left in charge. he was going to risk blowing up the entire ship, with him on the star ship, just to see if he can help one person! his wife! ok! I get how romantic that should be! but seriously! LOL then it is more and more dumbass decisions and choices after another. obvious mistakes. and to make matters worse. it becomes clear {well clear to me} who the traitor is! HAAAHaaa! WHAT! of course it was him!

Also some Disney movie about Spirit of the Horse or something like of that, that our library system appears not to have. Kohl's of course had a bunch of toys from it, which is what reminded me to check again. Still nothing.

Some of the movies I recently watched that I would recommend are: Forever Female (old, about old Hollywood, female stars, and the play producing eco-system) Everybody's Fine (with Robert DeNiro, excellent, about family & strains when kids are older on their own...) Things to Come (excellent movie mostly supported by French cinema. Shows the life of a female philosophy professor and how it changes as her husband leaves to be with the woman he's cheating on her with, her protégé has a woman in his life, but does start a publishing house in a farmhouse in the country. Especially recommend for P&M readers. Plus you get some nice French countryside which I think includes the French Alps.)

I liked colossal. It was a little more depressing that I thought, more drama than comedy, but I really liked where it went, and it was certainly novel. I saw it at our artsy theater shortly after it came out.
I liked the new Star Wars. I know I’m in the minority.
I also laughed way more than someone over 40 should have during the new Jumunji... but Jack Black was born to play a self obsessed, entitled 16 year old girl!
