I finished the book The Hunger Games last Friday and it was fantastic. As Shooby said it is not about killing kids (which is what I originally thought due to the media) but about so many other issues. The games is just used as a form of "control" over people. I plan to see the movie this weekend.

Watched Battleship last night. A really enjoyable movie with enough action to keep your eyes on the screen. And there was action without it being a gore or bloodfest. So

The History Channel finished airing the mini-series of The Hatfields and the McCoys. Viewers we over 17 million. I recall Kevin Costner saying on a talk show (or on some show) how important this story from history is. Everything was fantastic from the casting, lighting, sets, costumes, true to story line and the end-of-the-story from those who survived 120 y.a. to the truce drawn by the current family members. This rivals Dances With Wolves.
I thank Kevin Costner and all involved for showing this extraordinary series on cable TV.

We saw Snow White and the Huntsman last night, and it was surprisingly really good. I hate Kristen Stewart (Twilight is so horrible) but she wasn't too bad. Really interesting

Saw Dark Shadows over the weekend. It was a funny twist on the old series. Johnny Depp did a great job as Barnabus Collins.

Saw - The Babysitter on Netflix it was funny - has funny parts to it - not too sorry I missed it in theaters - but it would have been just as good. Reminded me of the movie Adventures in Babysitting.

I loved Hunger Games. And, it isn't a movie about "killing kids" as the media tries to portray it. It is a very moving story about Good versus Evil. About being in a terrible and the most difficult of circumstances and having the odds against you and being triumphant while maintaining your dignity and who you are. It is a very good movie. One of the best i have seen in a long time. And, Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss gave an incredible performance. She maintained the tension of the movie throughout and you did feel as if she was fighting for her life and felt the gravity and weight of the circumstances on her. Well done. A movie critic (of all people) spoiled it for me. He/she claimed Katniss was "resourceful", which has unfortunately become a red flag for me that a character is basically a puppet who reacts to a barrage of circumstances in the most logical, predictable manner possible without falling apart (a la Frodo or Harry Potter) while the charity of his/her friends, colleagues, and various benefactors saves his/her bacon time and again. Evidently, this quality of not falling apart under stress is now what qualifies as "resourcefulness", because the same adjective was/is often used to describe Mr. Potter. I spent the entire movie hoping beyond hope that Katniss would actually do something partway resourceful, and was sorely disappointed. (I did enjoy the first half of the movie, though, up until the games started. The movie has a fascinating premise, albeit nonsensical in some places.)

"Cabin in the Woods" is definitely 'different' if you're looking for bizarre movie premises. It's a black (incredibly black) comedy.
I'd give it 6/10 for actual entertainment value.

Looper - 2012 Bruce Willis
heck yea! Beer! Good movie! bonus the ending was great and did not expect it.
liked all of it and was so surprised to see the actress from Covert Affairs in the movie Looper and she was topless - like what? I forget that actor will do their normal show and movie at the same time. But nude scenes? oh my!

Source Code - 2011 Jake Gyllenhaal Hmmm.... not sure actually? I do like the movie. Time travel and changing the future is involved. At least time travel I can understand in Looper. This time travel is explained and I do understand it - but the movie is ok I guess. Plus the DVD copy I watched is dirty so it did not play straight through - thankfully the PS3 worked through the dirt so I can see the scenes the DVD player froze and skipped and would not or could not play. Frustrating - yes would I watch this movie again - nah would also say the movie is ok to see no regrets - it does entertain as it should. still thinking about this movie! LOL see he is not supposed to be able to change time in the present? but then again that was the purpose of sending him back in time. but that was suppose to be a simulation going back in time. but while there he was doing stuff. so he made changes in the past? but then he should not have been able to make a change the way the movie ended? can you tell time travel or just this movie confuses me?

The Experiment (Adrien Brody & Forest Whitaker) based on a novel about the Stanford prison experiment (a psychological study). A group of paid volunteers are taken to an isolated building. Some are assigned to be guards; the others are assigned to be prisoners. this movie is VERY close to what really happened. DH remarked that it wasn't a very well controlled study. I told him that the real study was ended way ahead of schedule because of how quickly things escalated. And that it should have been stopped sooner, but the psychologists observing got caught up in the...drama, for lack of a better word. fascinating

My Best Friends Girl - 2008 Kate Hudson
SO FUNNY! Dane Cook and Jason Biggs are staring also. But Dane Cook does a great job being a bad guy. it's a bit exaggerated of being a bad boy, and how the bad boy gets the girl. which is why comedians get the laughs because they make fun of the truth. The bad boys always get the girl and the good guys don't. I saw myself as the good guy so much I was laughing so much! I was going to purchase the DVD/ Blu-Ray DVD right after watching the movie. BUT as always we have to have a serious part. so now I may or may not purchase the movie. But I will give My Best Friends Girl a high score! ;D
