I usually vote Green. Up until the very last minute, I wasn't sure which direction to go in. All I knew was that we have to oust that sonofabitch. The polls had them SO close, running neck and neck. I just said "This one is for you, Jack." and voted NDP. I have no issues with the young Justin.
it wasn't going to be that close, according to the polls. edit: see post 83 At one point, not too long ago, it was neck to neck to neck. Then Harper threw the dead cat on the table, and I was worried. I'm not disappointed.
(I don't trust polls all that much. Nobody predicted the Orange Crush in Quebec. Surprise!)

YES!!!!!! to all of the above. the Conservatives and Liberals were in a dead heat from 9/10 through 10/7. since then, Liberals opened a 6% lead. you really should learn to trust the polls, or at least trust me. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/grin.png)

As in every other election since 1972, my riding has gone to the Conservative Reformers. The only real mystery during federal elections is how many people will even bother to vote.
With approx 50% of the polls counted, we are at 23.69% voter turnout.

I don't know if DH could have stood that much joy. At the least, his jubilation would have scared the dogs and made them think he was crazy.

Well, if you're going to legalize pot, you're going to need a lot of cookies. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/wink.png) I get the impression Justin is pretty but an intellectual lightweight. Nothing like dad. I hope you don't have the same bad experience with a C student that we had, with Bush Jr.

Nothing like dad. I hope you don't have the same bad experience with a C student that we had, with Bush Jr. I'll give him a chance. His lack of accomplishment and rising through the ranks due to pseudo-celebrity status are two strikes against him, but he may prove to be a sensible leader. Who knows. I just hope beyond hope the Liberals don't sign Canada on to some carbon credits pact, or go apewild with spending on social programs. Those are the only two major potential threats to the Canadian economy I can see in the next four years. In a sense I'm glad the Conservatives got the boot. It seems the longer a party is in power, the more corrupt and entitled the incumbents become. The Conservatives were getting too comfortable. Many of their policies, especially foreign policies, really were the least palatable of all the parties'. A changing of the guard helps to flush the toilet, so to speak. I don't relish seeing young Mr. Trudeau among other world leaders 20-30 years older than him at G8 summits. I can't help but think they'll treat him like the child celebrity Canada elected to buy everyone pot and cookies, which isn't unfair since that's the platform he actually ran on. Hopefully he has the sense not to listen to other nations' advice on what Canada ought to do. We shall see. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/undecided.png)

Today Canada's Prime Minister-elect moved up about 97 positions on the Hottest Heads of State list, beating out King Felipe VI of Spain and Barack Obama of the US.

Is this true about the Canadian election? What frightens me, though, is not the situation today but the possibility that people will keep going through the same half-hearted motions of picking, debating, squabbling, lining up behind their chosen representatives even as things get far, far worse and the choices more and more authoritarian. link

Sorry Virgil, I shouldn't be laughing. Next year we might end up with a carnival barker as our president, and he'll make JT look like a fine, sober, dignified diplomat while we become the international joke. I heard that Trump said he would change his hairstyle if he got elected president. Not sure if he was serious (hard to tell when, exactly, he's serious) but I'm having a hard time picturing what he would look like without that salmon squirrel tail on his head.

Trump built big a business, is worth billions!

My niece is a pediatric neurosurgeon. It doesn't mean she'd be good at leading a country. Actually, I think she'd be terrible at it, but she's a damn fine doctor.

Now now, don't get all pissy just because our guy has all his own hair and is going to give his best years to the country instead of just what he has left. BTW there are many of us that consider experience organizing community is better training for a life of public service than time spent on pursuing personal wealth.

In any case, your "accomplished neurosurgeon" is a liar and a hypocrite. He wants to close down PP because he's so against using fetal tissue in research. Haha! He had no qualms with using fetal tissue in his own research. Did he really think nobody would find out? Or is it OK for him, but not for anybody else?
