These are cropping up all over in Alberta, Harper's own province. The stickers are selling like hotcakes and vendors can't keep them in stock.

Except that pic wasn't taken in Alberta. There's no restaurant by that name anywhere in the province. The only one I could find listed is in Ottawa.

I saw a blurb on CTV News. The Stop Harper signs are everywhere, especially in Alberta. I posted a picture of what one looks like.

So, it was photoshopped? No. The one I posted happened to be in Ontario. I'm pretty sure Harper is toast.

People with nothing better to do than deface stop signs. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/undecided.png) I'm sure it's super-effective at changing people's minds.

I voted. Elections Canada allows expats to vote if they have a government issued ID and two other documents, one a photo ID and another from a list of four dozen or so allowable documents, and they show up in person. I took my university transcript, my university alumni photo ID/card, and my passport to an Elections Canada office in my chosen riding, and I voted.
So awesome. Hard for me to understand why more people who don't have as far to drive to their polling station don't vote.

6 days to go. NDP has tanked, but Liberals have skyrocketed, and lead the race. it is pretty certain they will not have a governing majority, however.

five of the last eight surveys have Liberals at or above 38%
for those of you unfamiliar with these elections, Conservatives won a clear majority with 40% in the last election. Liberals are closing fast on that number.

My House of Commons seats prediction as of 17h45m Ottawa time Tuesday 13 October: Bloc Quebecois: 5 Conservatives: 118 Green Party: 2 Liberal Party: 127 New Democrat 86 Revising mine too. Video footage from Brampton, ON CPC are paying people to do dirty tricks like remove other parties' signs, an Elections Canada no no. Considering three CPC Ontario MPs (Seeback, Allison, Pamic) were outed as Ashley Madison users, former DoFA Minister John Baird is known to have sexually assaulted minors but the newspapers are sitting on the story, Postmedia, 58% owned by a Yank, has oil industry ties, and wrapped weekend editions of its Sun papers with the message that not voting Tory will cost the readers, the PM has media stars Cathy Jones of "22 Minutes" and Nardwuar the Human Serviette frogmarched away from press conferences, there must be people who vote CPC who won't own up to it when polled, like in the UK election; plus, my riding is predicted to go CPC because of vote-splitting and new demographics (it's a new riding). BQ:6 CPC: 127 GP: 2 LPC: 128 NDP: 74 Others: 1 LPC support is pretty flaky, CPC have committed voters, and Canada is almost a large enough country to hold all that cognitive dissonance.

I saw those newspapers, but they speak the truth as far as the Liberals are concerned. They surged in the polls after Mr. Trudeau promised to run deficits. Pure idiocy, but "Debt is Prosperity" in these Orwellian days. I'm extraordinarily disappointed at my countrymen for abandoning the NDP because of their commitment to a balanced budget. I'm equally disappointed in their support for young Mr. Trudeau given the disastrous legacy of his father and his militant progressivism. Mr. Mulcair should be the candidate for Canada's left. As for Ms. Jones, her schtick got old ages ago. She's a pest. I have no problem with politicians treating her like one. I've never heard of Nardwuar... whatever. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/undecided.png)

Me and my girlfriend are going to vote early this afternoon. Bring snacks to share with fellow voters, Jaguar, just in case there are long lines. You may be able to sway a hypoglycemic to your party or candidate when the waits are 30 minutes or longer.

The polling station is across the street from my house. I'll be there with bells on.
Oh, and expats can't vote if they've been out of the country for five years or more. Otherwise, you're good to go.

I have lived outside Canada for 18 years, so I am an expat. I voted. 5-year restriction now enforced
Most of the Canadians Mulay-Shah has spoken with in the Emirates will not be voting by special overseas ballot, perhaps understandably so.
While many are wrapped up in their own lives in the UAE, other longtime expats won't be able to vote in this election, owing to federal voting restrictions dating back to 1993 that denied ex-pats the vote if they have lived outside Canada for more than five years.

My understanding, as somebody who checked the Elections Canada website, phoned the Elections Canada polling place in her riding for confirmation, brought requisite identifying documents to the poll, is that expats can vote if they show up in person. The legal way for expats to vote, which is how I did it "Long-term expats determined to cast a ballot for the Oct. 19 election have found a way to do so -- against the wishes of the Conservative government and despite a court ruling upholding their disenfranchisement. However, the method costs money, travel, and time, prompting some to argue the rules have effectively made their right to vote subject to financial ability. "Voting should not be something you must purchase," said Natalie Chabot Roy, 38, who was raised in northern Ontario but lives in Bonney Lake, Wash. Earlier this year, the government successfully appealed a court ruling that would have allowed Canadians abroad for more than five years to keep on voting by way of a mailed "special ballot."Nevertheless, at least one enterprising expat has already cast his ballot for the Oct. 19 election under another section of the Canada Elections Act that amounts to a barely accessible backdoor around the ban, and others are considering following suit. That section allows expats who show up in the riding in which they lived before leaving Canada to vote -- if they show proof of the former residency along with accepted identification." So expats in South Korea, UAE, New Zealand, Netherlands, Hawaii, Japan, may have some problem getting to the polls. They won't receive ballots by mail. I didn't receive a ballot by mail. But I took a three hour drive with my ID to participate in advance polls, and that's perfectly legal.
