I saw this one was on a lot of favorites lists so I felt like a thread was needed.
So I really love this show BUT this current year has not been as good as the past ones. It's like they all start making a million an episode and lost interest and started phoning it in. Or they fired all the good writers cause they needed to save the money they were now paying the actors. There have only been a couple of truly funny shows this year. The Prom one was the best. I felt a chill when Sheldon told Amy he loved her!
Sheldon is my favorite on this show. I can relate to him on so many levels.
I used to like Penny a lot but this season she is always in a bitchy bad mood. Oh and don't get me started on that haircut! Not a lot of women can pull off hair that short and she is definitely NOT one of them.

For me the issue is they are maturing into their relationship roles. It's not nearly as funny as when they were so awkward in the previous shows. When Penny was the experienced one and the rest had no clue.
Also, the game nights are no longer fresh and Raj's romance with his dog has worn thin.
I'll keep watching to see where everything goes and tune into the reruns when nothing else is on.

Love the show. Hey I'm a geek Electrical Engineer. I check their white board for the formulas. Penny is hot, but I don't like the short hair. Amy actually has a PhD. I love her and Sheldon.

Actually I don't think Cinnamon has been in any episode this season and he is now in that relationship with the Dermatologist. I don't really care for her. I think they should have hooked him up with the Vet from a couple of season's ago.

I have always in past seasons enjoyed Sheldon and Penny's scenes together. My absolute favorite scene of the entire series is the one from the Christmas episode in season 2 when Penny gives Sheldon the napkin that was used by Leonard Nimoy. "I possess the DNA of Leonard Nimoy!" "Do you realize what this means? All I need is a healthy ovum and I can clone my own Leonard Nimoy!" Classic!

It might not be the same kinds of jokes but I love the fact that they let the characters evolve and grow up. Too many comedies keep their characters artificially stagnant so they don't mess with the formula.

I have no problem with the characters growing and evolving which they have been doing for the last 3 seasons. But this season is just a bit flat. IMHO

I never watched Big Bang until the repeats started on TBS a few years ago. I kinda went on the crash course, watching 3-6 episodes a night and within a couple of days I became hooked for life. It's one of the few current shows that I actually go out of my way to see.
I also agree that this years episodes don't seem to have quite the same spark as in past years, but after being on so long, it's almost to be expected at some point. Not that it's not still a great show, but I think the characters are in something of a transition stage, what with all the changes in the last couple of years. Just a guess, but I bet the producers already have the end of the series mapped out, probably within the next 5 years.
The next issue on the horizon would be Mrs. Wolowitz. Do they get another actress to do the voice, or have the character "die" on the show? I think with the death route, it would lead to some interesting moments for both Howard and Stuart.

I think the final episode will be Penny and Leonard's wedding. That will tie in with the first episode where they met. Kind of a better "How I Met Your Mother"

Same here. I didn't watch the first few years then played catchup. Does anyone pause and read the vanity card message at the end? How about the guest appearances by Steven Hawking, Bob Newhart and others?

What vanity card messages? And Hawking has been great about all the jokes about him in the series! I keep waiting for Leonard Nimoy to show up.

I don't pause to read vanity messages but I did go on line a while back and found vanity messages posted from a lot of his shows. Haven't read any recently and guess they are still available with google search.

At the very end of credits and such a "vanity message" pops up but you have to be able to pause to read them - it is fleeting www.chucklorre.com/index-bbt.php Hope this works for you. You can get them for all his other shows too except one that I think were taken down - like I said - long ago since I have checked them out.

At the end of most episodes the writer, Chuck Lorre, writes a funny message. It only appears for a second so it looks like a flash in real-time. You have to pause the show to read it.

I have lots of favorite episodes. But, I think my absolute favorite is the one where the guys get high in the desert and Sheldon has to drive Penney to the hospital.

How about the guest appearances by Steven Hawking, Bob Newhart and others? I had no clue about the vanity messages. Like most people I don't watch the credits. I may have to check it out on the DVD's. I have loved most the guest stars. I like Sheldon and Leonard's Moms the most. I think they are cancelling The McCarthy's (really boring show) so maybe we will see more of Laurie Metcalf again. How can you not love Bob Newhart. Oh and James Earl Jones was hilarious!
laterbloomer Leonard Nimoy's voice has been in an episode when Spock's doll was talking to Sheldon. But I agree it's kind of surprising that he hasn't guest starred in person. And William Shatner too, he is pretty funny.

(And just for the record, Chuck Lorre also puts out a vanity card at the end of every Two And A Half Men. In case anyone is interested. That's where the vanity card got its start).

You should see the comments posted on BBT's FB page. I would say that 90% of them are negative feedback on her haircut. BTW from what I read she cut it for a part she was in last summer. She offered the producers of BBT that she would wear hair extensions until it grew back but they said no the would work it in. Big mistake, they should have taken her up on the offer.

I wonder why she didn't just wear a wig for the other part. No way would I cut my hair that short for something like that!

I must be in the minority. I like her haircut! But I tend to like pixie cuts in general.
(My husband agrees with most of you that it looks terrible.)
