The NFL Playoffs of 2015

Carolina vs Arizona. I expected the Panthers to win with their defense, and Cardinal's lack of any real offense.

Pittsburgh just sucks.

Ravens quarterback, Flacco, is just the luckiest qb in the league, but brings his A game in the playoffs. Gotta give him credit.

Indianapolis- won against Cincy but did show me anything that tells me they are going any further than one and out.

Dallas and Detroit.

Man, I did not expect Dallas to look that bad at home yesterday. Bad defense and no offense the first half.

As far as whether there was pass interference on Dallas in the fourth quarter, I did not think so.

When Detroit offensive end grabbed defensive player's face mask, just for a second, it offset any defensive interference that may have occurred, as well as Stafford nailing the pass in the defensive player's back.

At least we had one decent exciting game this weekend.

Well, I will have to disagree on a few points.

Also, the Lions got robbed! Hitchens ran right through Pettigrew before the football arrived to guarantee that it was a pass broken up.

Hitchens never looked back to see if the ball was coming. Pass interference!!!

They also missed Dez Bryant rushing onto the field with his helmet off to protest the original call.

Shouldn't that have drawn a flag, too? Unsportsmanlike conduct!!!

Then you'll agree that the NFL system of randomly grouping assorted refs together to be a new team of officials for the playoffs is pretty high up there on the stupidity list, right?  Take the best 4-6 performing official teams and use them instead of teams that have never worked together before.

And for God's sake, have a neutral party grade out the refs instead of doing it inhouse.

I missed most of the games this weekend.  I heard DH yelping about that particular call at the time.  But I didn't see it in real time and to be honest, I'm not even sure I say replays of it.  Heard and read about it, yep.

I found it interesting that they fined Suh less for his offense than they fined somebody for NOT talking to the press. Guess press conferences are more important than a qb's legs

Nope, it was pass interference. Say, are you from Dallas by any chance? On Jerry's payroll?  Missing the Dez Bryant call was obvious. Calling the right penalty and then taking it back again? The refs screwed the Lions, plain and simple. It directly affected the outcome of a playoff game, no excuse for that!

I'm not debating the merits of Flacco with you, because you are one of the ones who doesn't value what he has to offer. I love how the ones who knock him like to mention his Super Bowl run as if it doesn't count, lol. The defense didn't win it all that year, Flacco put the team on his shoulders and did the heavy lifting. Go ahead and slobber over those fantasy QBs who put up dazzling regular season numbers. I will stick with my guy who knows how to win, and most importantly, knows how to win in the postseason.

In my original thread premise, I said you got to give him credit.

I was referring to his after season playing.

Sorry I was not clear on that.

When it counts, he delivers, but so many times it  looked like he was scrambling and got lucky.

Seattle's Russell Wilson drives me crazy with the scrambling.

I love a scrambling qb. Guess I watched Fran Tarkenton (sp) too much back in the day. It makes the game exciting.

As for the pass interference call didn't an NFL head honcho say it should have been called. I will have to go back and find where I "think" I read that.

Oh well, hopefully the next games will be good ones since I don't have a dog in the hunt and can sit back and just enjoy watching someone win and someone lose!!

Yes, I forget his name, but he appears at all the important games for analysis, and he called it pass interference.

On the replay, you can also see the face mask grab, which was not called either. He grabbed the defensive player's mask, puling him along for a fraction of a second, but when one does that, it also changes the defensive player's route.

One other thing.

When the play offs start, the refs start ignoring picky fouls.

    I noticed a lot of touching/holding onto receivers with their hands that was called immediately in the regular season on all the play off games this weekend.

Quarterbacks are still pretty much protected from being attacked but they let the receivers and defenders play.

I agree that there was a lot of touchy feely going on with both players. But hey, I'm a Raiders fan and we see conspiracies everywhere. It's in our DNA

Lol! In the past he has done well there, but it really depends on our offensive line. The press made the biggest deal about Bell being hurt from the Steelers and basically ignored the fact that we have backups at key positions on the O-line, and a total of 18 players on injured reserve! So, if our line gives him any kind of time, he will do great. If not (I'm afraid of Big Boy Wilfork), we are in big fat trouble. On the other side of the ball, we have to get to Tom right away. If he has time, he is so good and he is going to kill us. I'm hopefully optimistic and agree it will be close.

In all honesty, how many cold weather games below freezing has GB played this year?

Maybe two?

Used to be any games after December 15th were pretty much guaranteed cold weather games in the division, but not anymore.

I expect them to beat Dallas, but even Romo has been lucky lately.

It was 7 degrees here when I got up this morning. The Ravens have all kinds of experience in the cold. Remember the playoff game against Denver a few years ago? They cut off our heaters during the game and it just made them play better. Twenty six degrees is for sissies.

My beef with the whole "elite quarterback" thing is that the stupid announcers decide that anyone who had 1-2 good games in a row is an elite quarterback.  No, I want eliteness based on 1-2 YEARS, not a couple of games in 1 season.  But then again, I hate most of the TV announcers.  I may actually try next season to get the radio guys synced up for the Packer games instead of just bitching about the lousiness of the TV ones. 

I have some mangled thoughts on quarterbacks, which I may or may not post on.  I've got to get myself organized before I can post!

The Sporting News one is particularly interesting since the quarterbacks were ranked in several areas.  Accuracy, Pocket presence, Arm strength, Mobility, Decision making, Clutchness, Toughness, and Intangibles.  What is interesting to me as a Seahawks fan is how highly Russell Wilson is ranked over those who have been around a lot longer.  That kid is amazing at times, and doesn't get nearly as much respect from most fans as he should. 

Regardless, though, the only thing I recall saying about the subject of "elite" quarterbacks is that Rodgers IS and Flacco ISN'T.
