Baked a dutch pancake for breakfast. Baked a batch of bread pudding in small mason jars for lunches next week. Baked a loaf of french bread. Baked a batch of cookies.
Must step away from the mixer and go for a walk.

I finished another quilt top. Went to Lowes and bought a couple of items. Took a cheesey potato & sausage casserole to our community pot luck dinner tonight.
Time to jump into bed and watch TV for awhile.

Laundry. Cleaned the kitchen. Scooped kitty boxes. Did some light cleaning. Set up the aquarium I bought on Amazon. Went to the (only) pet store in town to buy some fish. They no longer carry fish. Almost walked out with a super friendly, super soft baby bunny instead. Will have to drive into the big city or wait until the new pet store opens up here in a couple of months if I want fish. Or, the aquarium is really pretty as is, I don't necessarily need to stick a fish in there that requires feeding and cleaning up after!

Ruthlessly purged old photos. Got rid of doubles of some and a shit ton of my EX's. if he'd wanted to keep family photos he should have taken them but considering how little he thinks of family, it's no surprise. What a good feeling. I kept a few because they were so good of my kids that I couldn't pitch them out but I will consider cutting his face out!! The Sharpie is your friend. Just cover his face with a black circle.
Or use some of those stick-on dots you get in the office supply/stationery department.

Had a phone interview with a lawyer (see my YMOT thread if interested) Phone conversation with the home office gal about a potential new $25,000 client Had a phone conversation with a long distant friend New city councilman client called, conducted a phone interview Changed voice mail, sign on door, closed office, dashed off to a coffee appt Went to WW for lip gloss and toothpaste Back in office, caught up here and on FB Facebook messaged two friends, ate lunch in there somewhere Went through 15 email, cleared off my desk a tiny bit Processed a new bind request Coordinated a small get together for next Tues Friend came in and we chatted for quite some time Tried finding a missing file More FB playing Printed out policy renewal documents Still trying to find the damn missing file Bought homemade cookies from an adorbs 6 year old and her mom. $5 for a dozen. What a racket! But yes, she received a tip. Giggled about a cute cowboy with a friend And about that damn missing file..?!

We took DHs little car to the body shop yesterday. The thing called a dam under the front end (the piece that gets hit if you pull too far forward and hit the curb) to be fixed. Got the estimate and will take it in next Monday. Ate lunch at our favorite chicken place.
I finally broke the news to DH that I am no longer willing to look at our granite counters in the kitchen, they are going to be replaced. We had a very non YM discussion with our builder as it was the fault of his installer that they were so damaged. Builder absolutely refuses to do anything about them, so we will replace them, and if anyone asks why, I'm not going to be nice about my answers.
I'm hoping that the removal of what is there will not damage the cabinets or backsplash, I have been assured it can be done without damage.
The granite installers that have done work for us before will be here today to measure and do the template, then we will know if we need 1 slab or 2 and will go pick it out.
Just fyi, this is my kitchen:
The real problem is the piece of granite in between the stack of double cabinets. That piece has to be removed and I can only hope the cabinets aren't damaged.

GG - Love, love, love your kitchen !
Is the flaw in the granite counter above the two cabinets where your coffee-maker is sitting? I'd be going nuts too.
=I had a very subtle diagonal patterned earth tone tile back-splash picked out to go behind my range and along the wall in the kitchen above the counters and sinks. (It was a new home and we'd picked the materials while the house was still under construction.)
I didn't notice until after final inspection and move-in that ONE tile above the stove was facing in the wrong direction. (The tiles were about 4"x4"). The pattern in the tile was so subtle, it wasn't even noticeable to anyone else just walking into the room or glancing around that it was turned the wrong way - but I knew it was there - and it drove me nuts for 15 yrs. Every time I was cooking, that stupid flipped tile was right there in front of my face taunting me to take a hammer to it.

It's not flaws in the granite, it was the installation job. Installer #1 didn't know what he was doing. The seams were terrible, so then he decided to attempt to grind them down.....after that he left for Honduras or somewhere, barely spoke English (or didn't want to let on he did). Enter builders 2nd installer, who just knew grinding everything down really was the answer. All either of them caused was taking the polished finish off, so it looks foggy where the seams are. One seam is just to the right of the stove, the other is quite close to the coffeemaker. There was also a fissure in the granite and installer #1 tried to grind that out also.....
We had the company come out that did our granite at the last house, they did what they could, but only helped for a little while. They warned us the fog was likely to come back, and it did. The builder at the very beginning washed his hands of any responsibility, we then offered to pay half of the cost to replace and he still said no.
So this entire thing is on us. We had the trim carpenter here yesterday, he will remove the top half of the cabinets on the left with the small drawers and the painter will touch up any damage. That will get the granite out from between the 2 cabinets. The rest should just pop off. The whole process is estimated to take 4 days and the lead time for this is about 2 weeks.
Frankly, neither of us understand the builders stand on this. He was so willing to correct anything that I didn't like, and went out of his way to make sure we were happy...until this. However, I've already warned DH when someone asks why there are granite people here, trim carpenter & painter after only 10 months after the house was finished, I will not hesitate to tell them that the builder did not stand behind the work of his subcontractors.

I rode my horse a few nights this week. She's going well. Managed to blanche, cut off the cob, and freeze about 3 bags full of corn. Cut up leftovers from church chicken BBQ for meals.
Checked the apple trees....won't be ready for a few weeks. Tomatoes still aren't red yet. Hope to be able to make our puree for canning from the Marzano plum tomatoes that I planted.
Put up some items on e-bay to sell. Redeemed MyCokeRewards for a $20 GC for Marshall's.
Balanced and updated all investment/bank accounts.

Pat, have you ever thought you're trying to do too much? Nothing will get done if keep carrying the workload to the extreme.

Pat, have you ever thought you're trying to do too much? Nothing will get done if keep carrying the workload to the extreme. Seriously! I thought it was just me, but wow, I get tired just reading about everything Pat does! I mean, I do admire you, Pat, but take it a little easier on yourself if you can. You're so productive you make me feel like the lazy sloth I am.

We've been retired since 1995, yes, 1995. The one thing I've learned is that there is always tomorrow and the world will not cease to exist if I don't do much.

We went to Sams Club and had their hotdog combo for lunch @ $1.50 ea including drink. Then off to Barnes & Noble for DH while I went to Dillards and then Belks. Came home, played on this most of the afternoon. Sent and responded to a couple of emails, had leftover meat loaf and canned sweet corn for dinner.
Another day well spent.....

Pat, the poultry is already coming from China (at least a lot of it is). The problem is that it is grown here then shipped to China for processing. Even so, the label still says a product of the USA. For me, that is a real concern.
For now, my pantry and freezer are in good shape. We both seem to be satisfied with eating less, and splitting portions. Many years ago I canned tomatoes and made my own jams and jelly. I really enjoyed the satisfaction of doing so, but today, I just can't bring myself to go buy all the stuff and start doing it again. I even made my own bread for while, but eventually Dh didn't like it, so I stopped and never tried it again.
I applaud you for doing so, but please, just don't burn that candle at both ends until there is nothing left of Pat.

It's the new Zombie game again. Moonbeam started it this AM. Right now it's in beta testing. Nothing to worry about, I'm the zombie who took a bite out of you. You can do the same to someone else tha has not been infected if it says bite at the bottom of their name square.

Maybe you need some of those high topped "muck boots" and tuck your pants into those. A lot more protection for your feet and ankles

We went out for a ride this morning and stopped for lunch at Backyard Burger. Came home and I got another quilt top ready to be sandwiched together and then quilted. I now have 4 quilts ready to be stitched up and finished. I started another quilt top, this one for a small child so my total to get done will be 5. I like to do these in assembly line fashion, and 5 is the most I will have line up to finish at one time.
Had a Healthy Choice frozen dinner.

2 AM: Woke up to the sound of thunder and lightening RIGHT OVER THE HOUSE. Sometimes I need to be reminded we live at a mile high, apparently. Overslept. Preened. Transferred from the weekend purse to the work purse, Threw together salads for the next two day's lunches, and foraged around for something for breakfast. Decided on bacon to go. Turned on my cell phone, wrote a snarky text back to a Lions Club member with whom I used to be in the same club. Poured coffee into my thermos and ice water into the bottle. Commuted while eating bacon. Opened office, put away lunch and water in the mini fridge, checked caller ID, turned on computer, faxed back a faxed solicitation with REMOVE on it, started going through 30 email (I was out Friday) and responded to two so far, was floored about who the home office chose to be our next General Manager, checked FB, responded to 3 FB messages, posted a picture of DH's garden harvest last night, checked in here, completed a chamber application for a neighboring chamber rival and printed out an envelope for such, checked 4 bank accounts, compiled receipts from this vacation weekend to input into Excel, ate some orange sticks, drank more coffee.... And it's not even lunchtime yet.
