I've done very little decorating or baking this year but have had fun Christmas shopping. Everything is wrapped, and today I got the slider buns and bagged ice to take over to DD2's house tomorrow. He and his wife are hosting Christmas this year. Looking forward to it.

Took down all the Christmas decorations in the house except for the wreaths. I always leave the wreaths up (inside and out) until the 6th of January.
Putting the finishing touches on my 2020 financial spreadsheets.

Slowly accumulating the 2019 tax documents. The brokerage account info isn't usually available until mid-February which drives me crazy since I really would like to get the income tax pain and agony done and over with as early as possible.

Swam early this morning. Got home, changed the sheets, started the laundry, did some online shopping and then went food shopping. Spent the rest of the afternoon ironing, folding laundry and general putzing around.....

Have done little other than take a walk and call DGD2 and DS. Tonight a domino party with the other old folks I know; I'm making a corn and black bean salad for that.

I had put in paperwork for the Round-Up Concentrate class-action suit almost 2 years ago (Feb 2018). A settlement check for this suit showed up in the mail yesterday. I was sooo tempted to spend this unexpected windfall on something I WANTED, but didn't NEED. I deposited the check into the savings account this morning to get the money out of easy reach.

Way off topic but has anyone seen a posting from Donna Freedman of the Surviving and Thriving website? Her last posting was on 30 December 2019. It's unlike her to be on radio silence for so long. I don't subscribe to any social media sites so perhaps she is communicating there?

She posted on FB one day this week that the sun came out.
I also see her responding to her daughter's posts on FB.

It's a grey wet Pacific Northwest day. The weather is too miserable to be out schlepping through brick and mortar stores and I'm trying to be good and stay out of the internet stores.
We have the wood stove heating the house instead of turning on the ductless units. I hope to eke out the remaining banked kilowatts in our solar reserve account through to the end of March to keep from paying an electric bill. The new solar generation year starts 1 April.

It's cold and dreary out here today too. They were talking freezing rain, don't know if they still are. But its miserable out there.

Just filed our federal tax return. We're getting a refund for the first time in seven years! It's not a large amount but anything beats paying more in taxes.

It's gorgeous out today - 61 degrees and sunny. DH and I took advantage of the beautiful day and planted 40+ daffodil bulbs. It's supposed to rain off and on for the next week - good for our plantings but messy when it comes to doing yard work on your hands and knees.

I spent 6 hours at the VA today, then took my car in to be washed. First sunny and warm days we've had in weeks. Back to the VA again tomorrow at 6AM.....early to bed and early to rise.

A blinking day (sun in and out of the clouds). I bought more daffodil bulbs (~50) to fill in the empty patches in my flower beds. If I feel ambitious I may get outside and plant them today; if not, tomorrow is another day.....

I heard that Arkansas now has it's first virus patient. kInd of in central Arkansas, he had traveled somewhere but the location wasn't divulged. Went to one of the nice grocery stores and spent a little more money on food more suited for dinners. Forgot to get some frozen strawberries so just came back from Walmart. Then I filled the gas tank @ $1.89 gal.
I am now in for the night.

I cleaned the front room thoroughly-washed windows and blinds, vacuumed under furniture and moved what I could and wiped down everything in there. Also wiped down the front door. Sorted through everything in there-mostly music books.

Ran a loop of errands. Filled up the truck saving .70/gal with Safeway Rewards, went to the bank, picked up a package at the P.O., stopped quickly at the grocery store for bananas and came home. I doubt we'll be going out for much after this with all the closures that are in place due to the virus outbreak. The main street in our small town is beginning to resemble a ghost town.

It's really pretty out today, 52 but hubs said it was cool out.
I'm researching buying a new serger. My old one bought in the 80's does a great job on things like denim or more structured fabrics. But I cannot get it to sew knits. But in thinking about it, it is 40 years old, things have changed. I had to get a MemoryCraft some years ago to sew newer knits and it does ok, but I want professional finished seams on things and it doesn't have that stitch plus cut function.
Not sure what I will have to pay guessing $500 to $1200, but I will buy the cheaper one.
Got my new lingerie chest, and received DD's bed and decided to go the XL twin. The furniture store guy thinks he may be able to repair her adjustable bed base so we got a flexible mattress. It will come within the next 2 weeks. Think I will forgo the recliner right now, can't find what I like, and get the serger instead.

Clear blue skies, sunny with a high of 61 degrees. Mmm, spring at last. I line dried two loads of wash; first for this year. I stood outside in the late afternoon sunshine and folded the laundry while enjoying the mild weather and birdsong. Simple pleasures!

Weeding, weeding and sigh, more weeding. We have 1200 feet of flower beds so spring finds us on our hands and knees tidying up; that is when the weather cooperates. With most businesses closed we have been spending time watching old TV series we have on DVD, reading, cooking from scratch and for me reading blog posts and occasionally commenting. Every so often I do a bit of sorting and organizing but despite being cooped up at home I haven't done near as much as I had planned.
