I want to thank Sugi for finding those articles. I had looked days ago but hadn't found any updates. I am deeply disappointed by what the waitress did and admit I thought discrimation was still so prevelant that someone wouldn't do this as a joke or to get money. I was wrong and feel a lot like how I feel when women falsley accuse someone of rape. It really hurts everyone else when crap like this happens. I think the restaurant couldn't find evidence strong enough to fire her and hold up in a court of law which is why they decided to use the word inconclusive. I am disappointed in them for not issuing a press release on this much quicker than they did. My guess is they hate admitting they were taken in on the scam as well, but IDK.

Well said, Opti. While I'm still not completely sure what exactly happened, the writing on the wall is pretty clear. You are absolutely right. Stuff like this makes it all that much harder for those who are truely hurt. All of a sudden, because one person lied, all accounts are suspect.

In another thread Tennessee specifically asked me to point out where someone blamed Christianity in this thread, as if it didn't happen. Per his request, I pointed it out. Nothing more, nothing less. That's fine, MT. Let's just drop it now, eh? You have, after all, responded to Tennesseer. There's really no need to continue and you'd already stated why you'd posted what you posted. If it continues, all of it will be removed. There's nothing to gain, is there? I do admit I'm questioning why you brought your answer into this thread rather than answering in the thread in which Tennesseer asked. Because I was posting from my phone and there was no way for me to copy/paste to prove to Tennessee that yes, someone did make it about Christianity. I forgot now how it even came up but he was denying that anyone in this thread claimed it had anything to do with christianity and told me to show him where. I can't copy and paste from my phone nor can I tag someone from my phone...so I replied to him in that thread to come see the quote I just replied to....considering how much he was in this thread I have no idea why he would act like Christianity wasn't brought up.... You said there was no ned to continue but then asked a question....so I am answering but don't accuse me of continuing!

My guess is they hate admitting they were taken in on the scam as well, but IDK.The key is - we don't know. We don't know what happened here, and it's wrong (IMO) to paint someone with guilt when we don't know if they're guilty. It looks like the waitress lied; however, there are other possibilities. I just hope those who donated get their money back. Some have. If she lied, she has hurt others. In fact, no matter who lied, others have been hurt. That, to me, is the key issue.

What I appreciate most is your ability to say "I was wrong". This family was slammed by many in various threads and not many people came back and admitted that they judged. We've all been quick to judge at one time or another and it usually bites us in the ass

It looks like the waitress lied; however, there are other possibilities.like what? she's been overwhelming proven to be a liar, the credit card statement has been produced. what other possibilities are there? would you believe a confession? There is the possibility that the restaurant ownership lied to get publicity. There is the possibility that another staff member did the deed as a joke, or maliciously. While I may doubt both those possibilities, they're still possibilities. The point is, workpublic, we don't have a clue what happened and we probably won't ever know. We know the family didn't write that note. That's all we know. Should the waitress make a confession as to her guilt, I'd take her word for it, I suppose. At this point, I don't see it as particularly important. The accused family has been cleared by the evidence they presented.

The accused family has been cleared by the evidence they presented.yes, yes they have. it just seems to me that you are still having issues accepting that or are begrudging in acceptance. and i'll bet that some of the public does too. i too am for all possibilities, however I also look at probability too.

It affects all people, dj. Just look at this thread and the division here. It doesn't just affect homosexuals and Christians. Everybody is affected when something like this happens. It turns person against person - regardless of how they are classified. I agree. Regardless of how this turns out - it's disgusting.

We have to keep in mind, though, that while this particular situation will, most likely, turn out to be made-up, others situations appear to have really happened this way. That affects everyone also.

I don't have issues with this, at all, workpublic. I'm just not the kind of person to condemn without sufficient evidence and knowledge. Not guesses. Not probability. Evidence and knowledge.
