Hope all is going well with your Friend too. ;-) Things are going very well with him thanks. I don't know if I mentioned that GW2 can be a bit of a slob with her room. Okay, I'm being nice. We have taken to calling her Oscar after the Odd Couple. She cleaned up her room to impress my friend and then had him inspect it.

I always forget this is here. Sorry about her health issue. Since she is young, she will hopefully recover well from whatever they have to do. So glad she knew something was up with her. Sometimes you just brush it off because no obvious symptoms.

We are getting the test results today. Did I mention that GW1 went with her to her MRI then the two of them went out to dinner and a concert? The two of them are good too each other.

Great news that GW2 only has a cyst. Waiting for test results is so frightening.

GW1 is not adapting well to me having a friend. She is acting out to try to be the centre of attention, being disrepectful towards me. So we right now we aren't talking to each other. Anyone looking to buy a teenager?

Try to hang in there Later! Teenagers are.....difficult....when trying to figure out their own feelings and path in life. They think they have it all figured out and then when they realize they don't - it's the adults closest to them that reap the fallout. There is hope though! The two I was willing to trade with you are having a good year.....at the moment.

I suspect my kids (now 35 & 38)would have 'issues' if I started seeing someone even though DH is gone 10 years now.
Like everything else w/teens/young adults this too shall pass but not likely soon enough to NOT drive you crazy. I suspect she is worried about you getting wrapped up in this new relationship to the detriment of your relationship w/her. NOTHING you can say to fix but just remind her (regularly) that soon (3 years, 5 years?) she will be an adult on her own and you should have others in your life.

Later, if this issue is still on-going, I would suggest taking GW1 to a therapist. It sounds like it has been going on for too long now. You have signed on to be her foster mom, but I didn't see where you signed up to live like a nun. As Karaboo pointed out, she will soon "fly the nest", what are you supposed to do, wait till she comes back for dinner?
And Marv, my sister tragically lost her DH when he was 55 and she was 50, over 15 years ago. My sis found a new friend, her late DH's best childhood friend, they connected over his loss. Her DDs are nearly exactly the age yours are, 36 and 38. Do they love this guy? No, not much. But they accept him and are kind and respectful to him.
If they weren't, I'd be on it, because my sister is a fabulous mom, and grandmom, but she is not, and (IMO) shoudln't be defined by those roles, any more than Later should be defined by her role as Foster Mom.
Foster Mom (or widow) does not mean putting that aspect of your life on hold, indefinitely, or forever.

debt But they accept him and are kind and respectful to him.
I would certain expect/insist on that too. Definatly agree w/your sentiments and would have NO issues etting that be known. In fact, someone who has had a good marriage is MUCH more likely, IMHO, to seek out a new partner.

I'm glad my kids are okay with DF but if they weren't, it'd be tough cookies and they know it. Down deep, I think they don't like it and maybe not even him, but they are smart enough to keep their mouths shut. DD opened hers and it got shut for her, quickly. I won't tolerate any meanness toward him, he has been through many years of hell doing the right thing for other people and not himself, ever. That shits over now.

It was only a few weeks @debthaven2 and it wasn't an every day thing. A lot of it was me having to maintain my alpha status in the house, the girls are the age that they need to test that. When she caught on that treating me disrespectfully was affecting how much I spoil her she decided to back down and apparently it was all just a huuuuuge miscommunication
Took GW2 to her doctor this morning expecting to hear the treatment for her cyst. Apparently it is only 2 cm and not the cause of her pain so they won't be doing anything except monitoring it. She is going to see a specialist to try and find the cause of the pain. The doctor we had today is normally an emergency room doc covering for the regular GP. He was telling me how the hardest thing can be finding the cause of aches and pains. He said in the ER the problem is usually pretty obvious and he just needs to fix it. In his words "what these guys do can take a lot longer". So more tests in her future.

GW1 now has her G2 (full drivers license). She is legally allowed to take the car out on her own now So it is pretty much a constant litany of stuff she needs to use the car to go do
