Does Canada try to keep the kids together later? Or at least in contact? As much as possible. GW1 and her brother lived together but kept having to move because of his behaviour. So the foster mother before me made a strong argument that it wasn't fair to make GW1 keep moving. They moved him into a therapeutic home with people he really, really likes. They see each other every week at their visit with their mother, they go to the same school, he comes here for relief now and his foster parents have included GW1 in things like trips to Wonderland (an amusement park up here).

I'm happy to hear that GW1 and her brother do have some family time and that you have opened your home and heart to another child.

I so wish the US would model Canada's goal with this. I agree. Where I live, two cousins disappeared a year ago during the summer. Bodies were found by hunters a year ago. One of the parents had drug issues. The father is back in jail for drug charges and today the mother was arrested for dealing to a cop. Apparently there was a brother to the child that died in the house when she was arrested. What happens to him? His sister is dead. His father is in jail and him mother will most likely be in jail. Lots of people think this set of parents' drug problems led to the deaths of the young girls. It's so very, very sad thinking about what is going to happen to that boy. The other set of parents has said there is no making up with her sister, so they must think something is amiss.

I have a toy poodle named Charlie. She is the friendliest, best natured dog ever. She has had children all over her, dressing her up, chasing her etc and never once even growled at them. She jumps up on everyone to kiss and cuddle and no matter how many times you push her away she will come back all happy trying to play with you again another time. She is a great dog. Now the funny thing about Charlie is I can tell how the girls are doing and how they are settling in based on how they act with Charlie. They displace whatever they are feeling about moving in and me onto the dog. When GW1 first moved in Charlie was a dumb dog. And ugly besides. After about a year Charlie wasn't so bad. Now Charlie is cute, fun and a good dog. GW2 used to say Charlie was funny looking and stupid. The other day she told me Charlie is actually kinda cute and she likes it when Charlie sleeps with her. It's a fun process to watch.

GW2's aunt passed away Saturday night from a heart attach. 2 or 3 family members texted to tell her Sunday morning. Seriously, that generation will text absolutely anything! Do you ever feel like we are going back to the time of the telegram? Just way faster. Anyway she has gone to the funeral. It is in a community about 2 hours from here. She took the Grey Hound and she will be staying at her uncle's. They did a lot to get in touch with her to go and they are going to have her carry her aunt's cross so she is feeling pretty special. Not a feeling she has often with her family. Visitation is tomorrow and Thursday and the actual funeral is Friday. Here's hoping she can handle 3 days with them.

Would not it have been kinder to have called her rather than send text messages.
Hope she does well with her family.

She found being with her family expensive. They charged her to be picked up at the bus station and to drive her back to town. It would have been cheaper for her to take the bus back. Oh well, unfortunately that's what poor people do. GW1 and I are planning our spring trip. I was planning on Costa Rica but I have a cousin in South Korea and he invited us there. GW2 is afraid of planes and won't go. Anyway, are going for 6 days in Busan and 4 days in Tokyo. We are beyond excited. Of her own volition GW1 is putting $500 towards the expenses and covering her own spending money. With her chipping in we just might be able to do another trip in the summer.

That's a shame that GW2 won't go on the trip with you.

It really is but we can't talk her into it. In 2015 I think we will do a road trip to the Southern States. Hopefully she will go with us.

Have you tried involving a doctor? Perhaps a doctor could suggest some sort of "tranquilizer" - I'm not sure if tranquilizer is quite the right word. I remember when my mom's best friend died the doctor gave mom something to get her through the funeral. Mom said it was like she was totally aware of everything that was going on, but she didn't care. (She would have been a hysterical mess if she hadn't been medicated).

I went to Busan 3 years ago to visit a friend there and had so much fun! It's not really a "touristy" destination for many, but is popular in Korea for the beaches. We had a great time and there will be lots to do to occupy you! We stopped in Japan for a few days on the way home, and it was also really fun. It sounds like it will be a wonderful trip!

We had a great Christmas. The girls got me all kinds of things I had said I wanted or needed to get in the last month, a paper towel holder, dish clothes, tupperware, pj's....not stuff I asked for Christmas necessarily. Stuff I said I needed to get. It shows they know me and pay attention. They got a kick out of getting the same things in different colours like we do for sisters in my family. The got Roots sweat suits, pj's, chocolates, nail polish, concert tickets and one got a blanket and the other got a curling wand they wanted. I've kind of started dating someone. He has been a friend for a while and they know him and get along well with him. But it switched to dating over the holidays. First they teased me mercilessly about it. Then GW1 found a reason to have a total meltdown. She did the same thing when LGW moved in and shortly after GW2 moved in. I don't think she even realizes how threatened it makes her feel. It was a fun few hours while she worked her way through that. It involved discussing the possibility of me having a sex life. Just shoot me now It's been an interesting holiday

Good luck Later. I have wondered how my adult kids (38/35) would react if I started seeing someone/dating. My DH has been gone for over 10 years.

You recognized the pattern with GW1 and that is part of the battle. I know my parents only had sex twice as I have one sibling and then there's me. Other than that, they never had sex. Of that I am sure.

LOL that's what I finally told her TOM! I said she needs to do like every other kid on the planet and just go into total denial that I would ever do anything like that. The way I'm going to when she gets married and finally does the nasty.

Later Do you REALLY believe she will wait until she gets married? I KNOW I got twinges when I realized my DDs were 'active.'

Later Do you REALLY believe she will wait until she gets married? I KNOW I got twinges when I realized my DDs were 'active.' I think she will wait until she has a very serious boyfriend at least. Life experiences have given both girls a very strong aversion to being labelled sluts or getting pregnant young. (I refuse to think too long about what can be done and not get pregnant. I'm hoping the threat of being labelled a slut keeps some of that at bay for a while) GW1 is studying for exams right now, two weeks before hand! That is huge! GW2 is getting more medical tests. She is getting an MRI tomorrow. I'm not sure if she has some kind of chronic condition or if she has anxiety that causes these issues or what. I can't even tell she's sick except she tells me she has pain and trouble breathing. Apparently when the doctor listened to her breathing he was concerned enough to get an MRI within the week. That's a big deal here so we will see what is going on.

I'm so sorry about GW2's medical problems, later. She's too darned young to have to be dealing with that, darn it! I sure hope it turns out to be nothing serious or, at least, something that can be easily rectified. Please keep us informed.

We are accepting prayers folks. LGW we are actually seeing about having LGW come for a weekend. GW1 asked me and we invited her, now we just have to find a weekend she isn't busy and get all the agreements. I'll be able to tell you more then.
