dinner tonight is a mixed veggie steamer bag over pasta. carrots, zucchini, roma tomatoes and yellow peppers in a light olive oil-based sauce. I've never had that one before, sounds tasty I will make enough pasta to stretch this to two meals, as I can easily eat a single steamer bag of veggies AS a meal. $2 - steamer veggies $.50 - pasta $2.50 for 2 meals. I'm with ya, monkeyunderpants. the most expensive part of my dinner is usually the booze too. I like a glass of wine while cooking dinner, and another or two over the course of the night depending if I'm parked on the couch watching something or not. tonight, I poured a cosmo while I'm waiting for the pasta to cook.

Tonights dinner is pasta...probably about $5 total, but I have everything on hand.
Thank goodness, because we did Fathers day dinner last night and it was almost $250. Eating out budget for the month is completely blown....

tonight's dinner (before 5pm?) was a turkey burger, topped with some spinach and artichoke dip I saved from the batch I made for yesterday's party. $1.25 - turkey burger patty (impulse buy, not on sale. I won't buy this brand again, I wasn't overly impressed) $0.25 - burger roll ?? - veg dip topping (I saved about 1/2c of a batch that generally costs ~$10, I might have spread 1T across the bun. I'm not stopping to do the math. ) so, less than $2 for dinner. works for me

I don't think I'm eating dinner tonight. Went to a grad party this afternoon and stuffed myself on all kind's of yummy food, mainly cupcakes . I brought home a plate of leftovers too but probably will save it for tomorrow. If I'm hungry later, I'll just have some cereal. So, $0 works for me!

MMM Father's Day supper! Ribeye steaks @ $4.85 per pound -$10 Steamed asparagus wrapped with prosciutto- $5 for asparagus, $4 for prosciutto Steak Fries (from a package ) -$4 Homemade strawberry pie -$6 (estimate) So $29 for supper tonight. With the craziness that was the commissary today (just for the asparagus, prosciutto, and steak fries), I really hope it was worth it. No joke, I was waiting in line to check out for over half an hour.

sports bar fare at home tonight - black bean pulled chicken nachos. I've never tried nachos at home, but I'm totally doing this again! I haven't the slightest idea of the overall cost, but the immediate cost to me today was: $1.50 - avocado $1.00 - tomato $.50 - lime $1.00 - iceberg lettuce $2.25 - brick of Monterey Jack cheese (no, I didn't use the whole thing) I had the chips on hand, and thawed out a portion of pulled chicken from a big batch I made back in January.

Leftover meatballs and gravy. Thank the good Lord I had JUST enough rice! I was supposed to go grocery shopping today, but spent the entire day waiting on a plumber. Meatballs-$13 (once you add in the meat, egg, milk, bread crumbs, and...HEY! You guys are not getting my super secret meatball recipe!) Rice- 50 cents Frozen Peas- $1.79 $15.29, but it made a LOT of meatballs. I usually make a big batch and freeze half.

Thisis a great thread because it makes me think about how much we really spend on food. Tonight is pork chops and rice. Probably $5 for the pork chops, another $2 for the other ingredients and then $2 for the rice. So $9 for 2. Not bad.

You don't want to know what I ate & spent for dinner Mon night.
DD2 had a baby 6/14. Went to see them all Mon AFTER stopping at our local, GREAT sub place. 3 turkey subs, 2 container's of DD's fav soup froim there and 2 containers of their 'secret' sauce = $27.78.
But the eXperience was priceless (yep, it on my mastercard).

last night was teriyaki beef with broccoli and white rice.
about 1.5 lb of London Broil - I think it was $1.99-$2.50/lb, don't remember about 1.5-2 lb broccoli - not quite $3 sauce: had on hand, used about 1/3 bottle - probably between $2-$3 for the bottle rice (around 5 cups cooked) - don't remember, maybe around $3 for a 5 lb bag
tonight I am going to a work/social thing, so dinner for me will be some sort of takeout/fast food.... hopefully a salad or something. DH will have last night's leftovers and DS will have (hopefully) the rest of his veggie pasta along with some almonds and maybe cheese.

tonight is baked salmon w/green beans and roasted potatoes
$3 - salmon portion $1 - red potatoes (half of which will be leftover for lunch tomorrow) $1 - green beans (half of which will be leftover for lunch tomorrow)
$4 total for dinner, with a little prep work for lunch done. I'll pair the potato/beans with the last piece of S/P sauteed chicken from earlier this week.

Spaghetti tonight but I don't eat bad carbs so I had the sauce on spaghetti squash. It was delicious. About $1.00 for the can of sauce, $5.00 for the hamburger and about $1,50 for half a squash. Add $1 for the spaghettini and parmesan cheeses. So $8.50 to feed 3 with left over sauce for lunch one day.

I cooked a big batch of quinoa on tuesday and I've been eating it every dinner since then (tacos, over salad). Tomorrow is most likely corn on the cob (we have four ears of corn) and something else. Not pizza though, I already did the COTC and pizza spectacular a few weeks ago. It was epic.
